Shping is an innovative, shopper-marketing ecosystem that enables participating brands and organisations the opportunity to reward shoppers who use the Shping App with a new cryptocurrency called Shping Coin.

Along with crowdsourced data (from Shping App users), the data is collected from these sources into a continuously updated, distributed product database; at over 30 million products and growing, it is on the way to becoming the biggest in the world.









The Shping Platform is powered by Ethereum smart contracts and manages product traceability on the back of hyperledger and GS1 EPCIS standards. Shping will be partnering with Everledger to create a private blockchain based on the Hyperledger Fabric to play the role of a register for EPCIS events. The integration with Everledger is a work in progress.

This allows information such as the serialization of products, item movements through the supply chain, and sales and product recall alerts to be exchanged quickly and securely. All brands, distributors and retailers can become a member of this network, start their nodes and use the EPC Codechain. Shping’s blockchain integration agent will provide blockchain information to consumers and third parties via EPCIS SOAP service.

• Businesses who wish to use the Shping Platform to market to shoppers at the point of purchase must have a positive balance of Shping Coins to activate their campaigns.

Interesting project! I already downloaded your Android app. This is good sign that you already have an app and this means you believe in your project and you already invested some money by yourself.
I can imagine people scanning barcodes in the store to check reviews before they decide to buy or not. When I'm buying more expensive things like headphones or TV I check reviews on Amazon or similar website, but imagine there's new brand of chocolate and you don't know if it's good or not, simply scan the barcode and see if other people liked it or not. I will definitely use your app.

I have only one concern, if brands will be able to reward customers with Shping coins for good reviews, I am afraid that reviews will not be sincere, because people will try to get more coins and they will write biased reviews.

This is a fantastic question. Thanks for asking - we have a few reasons for this.

As a cryptocurrency, Shping Coin can be used globally, enabling businesses to reward consumers directly for their engagement with messages instead of the traditional way of paying advertising middlemen. This will add an exciting new dimension to shopper marketing and we’re very excited by the potential.

Therefore, firstly, a revolutionary platform needs a revolutionary model to back it. Shping Coins are linked to our smart contract enabling our technology to validate that brands and other awarding parties have a sufficient amount of Shping Coins when they set up their campaigns to reward shoppers using the Shping App. This keeps the system self regulated.

The other reason is that the platform is global and so it stands to reason that we need a global reward token rather than facilitating local fiat transactions, which is administratively problematic. Imagine all those foreign exchange fees that need to be processed for all the microtransactions happening at once!

We believe positive and negative feedback are equally useful for participating product brands as it will be able to alert brands to the issues consumers are most excited or concerned about, and give them cause to address or promote these aspects Simultaneously, if a product is not living up to its promise, and enough honest people are independently identifying the same issues, then it stands to reason that other shoppers SHOULD be able to see these opinions to help them to make better choices.

We really hope we reach that point, but we are also realistic about the challenges ahead - while most products you see in a supermarket for instance would use industry standards, there are many products that do not. Our partnership with GS1 (the organisation responsible for issuing serialisation standards and product barcodes around the world) will enable access to data to the majority of products.  We will also reward users who find and enter the details of products that are not on the database, ensuring that it's constantly growing. At this stage, we have over 30 million products on our database.

Who will support and update this database?
Shping has a number of partner, client and crowdsourced data sources that feed into its Global Product Database. This comes from GS1 local members (as mentioned), partners (e.g Everledger - for diamonds and high value assets on their ledger) certification authorities (e.g Australian Certified Organic, Asure Quality), data from product recall portals around the globe (e.g OECD), government data (e.g World Customs Organization), data from brands (e.g marketing material) and their supply chain (e.g provenance info, chain of ownership data, shipping and consignment details, raw materials handling), and finally - from the users themselves who can contribute information like reviews, amendments and survey information to help improve the information. Shping has a dedicated team around the world to validate data supplied by crowdsource.

This is a good project, but i have my concern on the system bounty, when i add a new product. I already add lots of product but only 1 was approved.

Great product, although use of blockchain might not be necessary to succeed, but still disruptive!

Shping uses blockchain in two ways.

1.We use Ethereum contracts to administer the crypto-reward element, Shping Coin (SHPING). The primary use of the ledger is to ensure that brands looking to activate campaigns using the App have an adequate balance of Shping Coins to reward shoppers who scan their products, view product information and earn rewards etc.

2. The use of our GS1 EPCIS standard Hyperledger blockchain is another story. We use this to support the serialialisation and traceability information between our system and supplied/brand data. In essence it ensures we can track and trace the provenance of products through the supply chain so that consumers can validate and verify goods at the point of sale, seamlessly.

Shping to accept BitClave identity system for its shopper-marketing App.

I like the idea of your project. Tell me, please, what is the minimum amount needed to start investing in the project?

 The product is in beta, but I have tried it and it works ok but there's not much detail yet. But the potential is massive because brands have to buy the Shping tokens to pay shoppers for scanning their products who then can sell it back to them! If the brands don't buy the tokens now, then they're going to have to buy it from investors.

I like the overall neat design of the site, platform and demo apps. As everyone can contribute to this big database, the information can be checked and proved by many people and not only big companies, which can manipulate some data. I think it is also a good incentive for brands and companies to help them connect with their customers and encourage them with rewards.
