Title: [2018-01-12] KFC Canada Accepts Bitcoin
Post by: Rick Nolan on January 12, 2018, 08:00:13 AM
KFC Canada, world-known Fast-food chain, presented “The Bitcoin Bucket” on January 11.

For the equivalent of C$20 in bitcoin — currently 0.0011204 in the cryptocurrency — customers can purchase the “Bitcoin Bucket”, which includes 10 chicken tenders, waffle fries, a medium side, medium gravy and two dips.

I eat in KFC from time to time and in the case if bitcoin will be accepted by all chain it is going to be the first place in my town where I for the first time will be able to pay with bitcoin directly! Interesting, but transactions are so slow now and expansive...will it not distrub?

I read the attached article and it looks to me KFC is a little bit over their head with BTC and maybe they should have thought it out a little better.

Last part of the article:
"KFC’s payment processor is Bitpay, which last month was forced to temporarily raise its minimum invoice amount to $100 due to “current bitcoin network conditions”.
So price of the bucket is 20$ and minimum amount you can spend is 100$. Maybe I am wrong and they did it on purpose :)

That being said, I am happy to see they are making an effort to include BTC as payment possibility and hope that it will progress to state where you can just choose BTC as payment method regardless of what your order and amount is.

It's nice that KFC is undertaking such a thing, but realistically, who is going to pay for KFC with bitcoins? I want to buy a $20 bucket, I have to spend $20 in fees for it as well. And who knows when my transaction is going to be confirmed. From a practical point of view, this initiative will not bear fruit, at least not in the short term.

That's a valid point, maybe there is some kind of arrangement where Bitpay will keep transactions with themselves until they reach a minimum of $100 at which point they would send the transactions to KFC, I don't know just thinking out aloud.
