If you want to understand what is bitcoin you should search videos that explain about it, mostly in youtube. Or here https://bitcoin.org/en/getting-started. Regarding in bitcoin wallets make sure thay you understand how to secure your wallet because once ypu forget something like its password, or some recovery phrases then might be possible that your bitcoin will lost, try to look and read here https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet.
I may suggest use a desktop wallet like electrum not any web wallet. But for exchange good for PH users coins.ph is the most recommended its an exchange not a wallet.

Newbie here as well. Start with finding an exchange that you can use your pesos in. In the US,  coinbase is the  most popular exchange to start with  then transfer BTC, LTC, or ETH to  another exchange. I've seen ebay sales too,  but I wouldn't suggest that.

We have a lot of topic for beginners, reading them will help you a lot. Knowing the basics of blockchain technology will be a good foundation to trust crypto currency. If you are lazy like me and do not like reading, youtube is a great resource as well.

If you are talking about mobile app wallet, since you are a filipino you may use coins.ph, it is very reliable and it is recognized by Banko sentral ng pilipinas. Also mycelium is a great alternative. For altcoin you may use jaxx. Those are the wallet i use but there are a lot of wallet out there.

then, in this forum you have to actively provide solutions, and share knowledge. and also in this forum you can earn income.

Why is it that every noob suggestion in threads like these has "you must rank up by posting constructive and follow the rules" in it, or some variation thereof?

OP, why don't you try reading in the beginners & help section?  Seems like everything you'd ever need to know about how to begin in bitcoin would be there.  And I would suggest do more reading than posting, especially since you're Filipino (unless you happen to be proficient in English).  There are way too many garbage posts on bitcointalk, and they're mostly due to people who can't write and/or have nothing to say.  Good luck.

I am also a newbie and it took me over one month to understand the blockchain technology I understand it to 95% now. But yes youtube is a good first step. watch videos if you are not a native English speaker watch videos in your own language because I know the first steps are really hard. I use Blockchain wallet on my phone and Exodus wallet on my computer.

the more you compete and give benefits in the forum, then your rank will go up, and you can earn income by following the ICO....

I suggest you focus on one target, if all you learn I am afraid you are confused.
just decide whether you want to be a trader or want to become an invetor or a miner. You will get it in this forum.

Take time to read the postings on this forum and gather some information that is useful to you. Regarding on how you can earn bitcoin, first you need to become a jr. member to be able to apply for a signature campaign ad and you need to do your job by posting comments depending on the ranking as to how many post needed within the week. Then secure a bitcoin wallet where your earnings can be stored.

For newbie i think you should rise you rank first or do some signature campaign that have rule to comment or post at least 10 contructive post per week that can help you to get high your rank
While you do that campaign you can learn about crypto world
I think just do that first

My suggestion is you may go to youtube for actual demo on how you will start with bitcointalk forum. There is so much to be learn regarding bitcoin wherein you should consider this as a task for you to achieve what you want to happen in this forum. Need to be a jr.member or be a member to be able to start applying for a signature campaign ad and comply the post requirement needed to be able to start gaining the points which will be soon convertible to cash.

Watch andeas' videos on youtube; it helped me a lot grasping the basic concept of bitcoin. Also read as much about cryptos as you can because technology behind it is evolving very fast--this is a must. If you neglect your homework, you'll be supprised to see that even if you're on the train, you are in the last wagon.

I am also a newbie, still doing bounties to find some cash to trade, If you are new I suggest you to follow my method because otherwise, you will lose your money, After that you will able to start trading using the money which you earned using bounties,  Go through youtube and learn. refer this forum as well,  You will get it lot of knowledge from this forum.

and now you have the right direction with joining bounties and I see you could make a cash by that but you should be able to do another work if you want to search more bitcoin. learning to trade from youtube is a good idea because you can find video lesson about trading but you should focus on the lesson so you got the point. but after you learn any information about bitcoin, you need to practice to earn bitcoin. don't worry if somehow you cannot make a profit because you still learned.

It's a good time to buy bitcoin and altcoins as well  ;) firstly you need to setup multiwallet (like jaxx or coinomi) or single wallet for each cryptocurrency. You can add funds to your wallets om the cryptocurrency exchanges (like Craken).

Good luck!

You're in the right place to learn. Consider yourself lucky mate. I was also a newbie like you "well, im still at the same rank as you" but i have already learnt a lotnof things from this group/site. Everyone is nice dont hesitate to ask.

In my opinion i first try to understand what is bitcoin and how does it work ? After that you'll suddenly have the urge to learn how to earn and every answer on your future question will be answered here.

There is a podcast from Forbes named Unchained by host Laura Shin. She has done several podcasts on Crypto101 and for people new to blockchain technology, you may want to check those out.

You can also check your area of Canada for a Bitcoin group as there are meetups everywhere. They will show you the essentials of how to acquire it if your interested and are willing to speculate...

Yeah of course it makes sense to set up your own bitcoin wallet
Also please do some research
Check out different cryptos, the ideas behind them. You kinda wanna be a believer in what they stand for (Well, that's what I think)
Don't forget to constantly consume new info, you can grab a really good crypto in the very beginning!
I'd advice to start off with telegram channels/reddit/topics on here/online magazines
The good ones are CoinJournal, the Merkle, CoinIdol
I personally also am a fan of youtube and just videos in general, so I really dig cointelegraph channel, it's hilarious but very informative.

As a newbie, wherever we are part in the world as long as we want to learn about Bitcoin we should research further. There's a lot of posts here that can help us to understand about Bitcoin. Aside from that there's a lot of website also that teaches about it. We can also ask on some people who are very active in this industry.
