You're a total moron. It's crashed 90% before and recovered. This "crash" (correction) is nothing compared to that. I have held alts that have gone down 80%, and am now up a lot by holding them.

This crash happens every year, always in January.

This year is more intense, because of futures markets. They opened in December because they studied the charts, and noticed the usual crash in January.

Most of the pump starting in November was done by millionaires associated with hedge funds. This was after futures was announced by the end of October.

When futures opened in December, they bet on shorts, and using leverage, sold contracts by 10x the price. They sold contracts without having it, taking loans from the house.

Then they go back to the bitcoin exchanges and short it. They dont do it alone, but in groups, so it is all coordinated, like they did with gold and silver before. The short provokes a panic, the price matches the contract, and then they cash it out, with 10x the price stipulated in it. That is, if he shorted 1000 bitcoins, he got 10000 bitcoins, but with the value in cash.

What he will do with all this cash? He will buy more bitcoins and pump the price again, this time even higher because of the leverage. Rinse and repeat, and a lot of people will suffer from it.

It will become worse when it opens in Nasdaq, probably by April or May. Probably bitcoin will be "tamed" in a couple years, like they did with gold and silver. We just dont know at what price it will stay, as some of these millionaires are bulls and will bet on longs.

Now, someone will say that if you hold your bitcoins in cold storage, we might get safe due to smaller supply. But what dictate the price is what is being traded on the exchanges, so they can do the same thing with a low volume.

But nothing of this is possible if there is no panic.

The return to the mean in Eliott's Wave is between 5k and 8k. It should be 8k, if we count only those institutional pumps, but theres the panicked noobs, and they will drive the price even lower, to around 5k.

Bears will say the mean is between $200 and $800, but most of these bears are shilling for BCash, and wants the flippening to happen. However, every altcoin is going down with bitcoin, due to the panic. Notice that theres no future markets for altcoins, only for bitcoins, so the real driving force on this crash are the noobs selling it at a loss.

And it bounced back on the retest.

That means a recovery is coming!

A Bitcoin will be 50k in 2018, or 2019 - guaranteed minimum.

Because its purpose is not confined to a payment system, but rather it can also be a decentralized store of value (that increases vs. the dollar). What governments that are significant, other than China, have banned it?

The beauty of crypto is that no coin is truly dead.

Right now the "crash" we're seeing is NOTHING. It's a speck.

LOL if that would be the only function then why BTC and not any other coin? The whole reason BTC was worth more than the others was that it was more accepted as payment system. Now that it turns out to fail there, the value is just gone.

We are all destined to go through the same motions - when Bitcoin drops significantly, we call it a crash, and people panic, and believe it will never recover.

I thought the same thing about my WAVES back in Summer 2017, for sure.

wall street traders have incentive to pump the price as high as possible, and dump it all to get their shorts. Another fact.

We have seen this already - I was wondering why Bitcoin even got past $5000 in the first place. All during the Summer last year I was betting on ETH to be the big thing, but Bitcoin boomed instead.

It was because Bitcoin was and still is the face of crypto.

In marketing, the brands and the associations mean everything, not the utility use (which is also constantly evolving)

Less than 0.5% of the world population have bitcoins.

There's more space to go up, than to go down.

Severe crashes like those of yesterday were already expected and will be something common going forward. This having much speculation with the use of btc and bad news will cause much damage. I even believe a price tag along with btc would be something around 7k to 8k.

Anyways, I don't hold any Bitcoin but rather have all my money in some tiny alts down the bottom of the chart, but this is the Bitcoin forum.

Ok let me explain market movement then: people have been dreaming about some alternative to the banking system, they feel cheated upon by their governments, using inflation against them, banks that defaulted causing them to lose all their money etc. And then there was BTC, a coin that promised to be the solution to all that. People went crazy about it without actually knowing about the weaknesses of the coin that made it unsuitable as a payment system. Everybody was in fear of missing out, that combo drove prices up to insane heights.

Now fear is an interesting emotion, it can both drive things up as down. When prices are not going up every day again and people are actually losing money every day, then fear can become a driver the other way around. Combine that with the realization that BTC failed as a payment system and that it can NEVER replace traditional banking, because of all its weaknesses and that can become a very powerful driver downwards.

That's why I'm expecting a full reversal to the june/july 2017 levels of around $2500

Well, I never got in because of an alternative to a banking system.. that would be XRP.

In my opinion, people just got in because of speculation, and speculating on the most well-known coin, which is still Bitcoin (even my friends who are new to investing talk mainly about Bitcoin - I'm telling them to wait a few weeks to see what the market does, of course).

I agree with the FOMO and fear though.

As for $2500, that's pretty massive, since it would mean a ton of people would quit, and that very few would replace them in the market, which is contradictory to the increasing number of adopters.


Anyways, it doesn't matter what people say... we'll see what happens.

I agree with OP at 80%, I am sure we gonna see a rip off time soon. Unfortunately i have no access to bitcoins now, hope BTC is around 10k when i reach home after 18th.

Of a truth I am very surprised about the current dropped as I bought around  $14,867. My thoughts was bit coin is not going to go down more than  $10,000 but I just see now that it has fallen below $9,000. We should have sold at lose but I am thinking to hold further and hope that before December this year we can get back on our feat. Another surport level that I am hoping for was $7,000 surport area and I think bitcoin may not fall to that level before recovery.

Masterluc predicted $9000 at least a day ago, and possibly followed up with another wave of panic-sells to bring it under that, and a recovery to 10k+ USD afterwards.

We'll see. It's easy to panic and give in to emotions beforehand.
