This is good to know as it is Oscar time again and betting on who will win best picture is always a favorite to bet on as I always see it as a good old past time to do.

I did not think that you can bet on who will be the nominee or will receive an Oscar. It will be interesting to make a few bets on the prospective winners.

Dunkirk will take it. Blade Runner doesn't have any chances - the slowest movie I've seen from a long time!

@kiindje. My bet is the Shape of Water which is directed by Guillermo del Toro. It was simple but a very good movie with a classic feel. I hope the odds for it will be good enough. But if not then I will be doing a parlay for best film, best director, best actor and best actress hehehe.

yeah the shape of water is the number 1 candidate for the best pictures as they have the most nominations with 13 of them and the second favorite would be Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri as it already won a Golden Globe and a SAG award so things should be more intresting for them third film is doubtfull despite that Oscars loves WW2 movies it's just that Dunkirk do not feel that good to be an oscar winner the directing was great by Nolan but it felt that there was no screenplay so if was me i would put my money on the other two movies, the post by Spielberg could be another surprise to be honest i still didn't watch it yet but i will in the next few days.

That's a great news. For those who like sports betting this is some sort of like that and we can bet on who will get the awards. It will be great seeing the Oscars this year and at a same time wining the bets and getting some quick easy bucks.

It's the first time I have heard about it but it's good if we have this betting especially if you are a movie fan. Oscars always make the right choice in terms of its nominees and awardees so it will be fair to bet because whoever wins was the best in their field and they really deserve to win. That is what makes betting legit. For gamblers this is something different. They usually bet on sports not drama.Time for another movie marathon after the Oscars.

This is the kind of film most likely to win, however this year you have the wildcard of the Harvey Weinstein effect.    The oscar academy is a bit political so I dont know if the risks of a surprising result are great, perhaps odds are not as good value as they might be normally.      The big thing is that some know how the votes go, they'll know the opinions of some of the voters so this seems slightly unfair as anyone in the industry might have a better take on the current spirit or consensus voting pattern.

Is it weird that I haven't heard of many of the movies that are currently listed? Or the actors for that matter?

Thought I was keeping up quite well with movies, but now it appears I missed quite a bit.

Depends where you are in the world, some movies take a year to get fully released across every cinema, also depends on the size of film as not every production is a blockbuster with the budget to produce alot of copies.   Obviously Oscars arent given out by blockbuster status so much, they are awarding to all sorts of small scale releases like the foreign language and special categories.

  I believe any film in 2017 is eligible ?  So that'd include some done at the last moment - Plumber with his last minute entry stop gap cover in the 'All the Money in the World (2017)' has to be one of the most surprising nominations for years.   I think he'll win it personally, it ties into the effect I mention above plus he deserves an award for his lifetimes work

@STT. Do not underestimate the sportsbooks. Those odds are priced that way for a reason, and they are almost 99% correct with their predictions. Your best way of doubling your bet is to do parlay of the absolute favorite in each category. Something Nitrogensports has disabled.

They also do not have the rest of the nominations like best costume and best sound editing which have the best chance for us to win some bets. Maybe they learned from last year hehehe.

Yesss, I love Oscars betting! But it's a pity that there're some most obvious prize winners for which you'll receive only small reward. On the other hand, something unpredictable may occur, like last year lots of people made their bets on "La-La-Land", even though the reward was the smallest, they were as sure about it, that put a very big money on it. And then boom! "Moonlight"... That was a true disappointment.

Book maker are quite good on creating bets. Parlay will not gonna ensure too a x2 profit since Oscar candidate has all chance of winning. I really don't know what are the basis of book maker for creating this kind of bet option.

i'm not too concern about other categories but i was interested to see the winner of the best visual effects and although seeing the odds for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is very hard to be the winner of this category but i wish this movie will be the winner because i liked this movies

Shape of Water has odds around 3.0 where I bet (3/1 or +200 depends on your favorite odds format).
This is great value in my opinion.
Also Sam Rockwell is a lock for best supporting actor, I am glad he will win it, he is so underrated and has been one of my favorite actor for years.

Actor category i expect DiCaprio to win all the time but unfortunately he missed several time. This year hope we will be under this category and wins the title too.

@drmarcobelli. Yes, I Tonya is a great movie. It showed how the system was against her all along, and that she was really America's best ice skater at that time, but the governing body favored Nancy Kerrigan because she was a sweet heart, while Tonya was white trash.

Tonya was really a victim of an unfair system.

Thanks for starting this thread. Guillermo del Toro is a lock for Best Director, IMHO. Put some $ down on him before the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTAs), but he strengthened his case as the runaway favorite when he took the award over Nolan (who is a British director).

Odds have definitely reflected that from the -200ish -> -1000+ drop since then, but I still think there is value there if you can find it at -1000 or less (Bovada, BetOnline) for a 10%+ ROI.

Coco is another lock, but the odds are ridiculous on that one now (like -4000, -5000 range).

@A Confused Shoe. The odds for Guillermo del Toro is -1205. To win $100 you have to make a bet worth $1205. If you make a bet of $100, you win only $8.30. Taking on odds that high is not worth it.

The best way to bet in the Oscars is to make bets in the minor categories hehehe.

As an example, look at the Best Sound Mixing category. I reckon The Baby Driver +500 has a good chance to win versus the favorite which is the movie Dunkirk -714.

Yeah, the odds really aren't great, but I really consider it almost a 100% lock that he will win it for Best Director so if you can get an opportunity to grow your bankroll by 10% for (in my eyes) a near certain win, it's worth the risk for me, IMO. But I definitely can understand why others may take a pass on it, especially if they don't share my sentiment.

Yeah, I think Baby Driver has some good value over Dunkirk in that category for like 0.5 unit or so.

Jordan Peele can be the dark horse here and I think he might have a good chance of winning the best director awards. Everyone was surprised as a comedian like Jordan can create a master piece like. His new concept on how the Horror Genre can be is good, no jump scares, no sudden ghost appearances he has done a horror movie that can possibly happen. Although it is a long shot with all the big names out there like Guillermo del Toro and Christopher Nolan but I'll be happy to see him win.

Although I respect the Academy Awards and mostly I agree with their decisions I've noticed that the awards are not necessarily go to those who deserved them the most. Sometimes the decisions are political in a sense. And that's why I'm pretty sure that this year Lady Bird will take an Oscar either in the Best Picture category or in Best Director, or even in both. Since the odds for this picture are ML 9.000 (+800) and ML 7.850 (+685) respectively, I think it's prettty safe to make those two bets. Only, please don't bet more than you can afford to lose because like always anything can happen.

I personally like Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri and Get Out much more than Lady Bird, but I think that taking into account the recent "Me Too" movement's popularity, my favorite movies have less chances to be awarded.

It is really possible to make bets on everything! What gamblers humans really are! ;D I am going to vote for "I Tonya", I think everything about this movie has a good chance to become a winner.

Hm, so Bovada/Nitrogen don't work for you and you don't trust BetOnline. Consider 5Dimes (use bitcoin only, they've had issues with CC fraud in the past), Bookmaker, Heritage, Intertops, MyBookie, Sportsbook, BetDSI, and TopBet. Someone mentioned that list to me and I think they all have the Oscars. 5Dimes, Bookmaker, Heritage are probably your best options.

I thought La La Land was a sure lock to win it but then they had Moonlight win it.
That one was the dark horse during last years oscars so you never really know with these sort of odds. :-\

I hope it happens, but I don't think that the "Oscars" will give a Black director and Black lead this award two years in a row - given how they found a way to take the limelight away from Moonlight last year. There is overwhelming support for Jordan Peele and Get Out; But would it happen? Today I saw on twitter from @nowthisnews that "Some Older Oscar voters are refusing to watch Get Out because its not an Oscar Movie"; despite 4 oscar nominations including best picture. That is enough reason for you to watch it and vote for it. I think Logic trumps emotions or sentiments in this one. I think that is just a plain stupid reason.

yeah I also expected from the shape of water to win the best picture and Del Toro as best director he have been nominated for 3 times and it was time for him to get it such a talented director and for the three Billboards outside ebbings was a good runner's up always been in the Oscars as they already won in Bafta awards and Oscars tend to go the opposite side maybe to give a meaning for the award not boring it like one movie wins all the awards but they got at the end the best actress and the best supporting actor and for The darkest hour it was a well deserved win for Gary oldman a really great performance as Churchill couldn't be better.

You guys has a chance to win if you were able to watch the movie. I was not interested in betting since most of the nominies came from the movie I did not watch. Honestly, I was only able to watch the greatest showman but they have not won any award, so upset because it's one of my favorite movies.

Just use utorrent, and download the movies, I watched three billboards, then watch shape of water, even though I prefer three billboards, I knew deep down shape of water would win because it is more poetic and is the kind of movie that usually wins the oscar for best picture. American are sometimes predictable :)
