Title: Will we ever see 20k+ again?
Post by: Sukut on January 20, 2018, 02:04:02 AM
(I'm all-in in Bitcoin for the record) I don't want to be a pessimist but I'm kinda going in to that direction.

We all know crypto bled quite bad the past week. Because of bunch of government issues, futures contacts, unconfirmed transactions and what not... We all also know that Bitcoin is neither the fastest nor the safest crpto currency out. The 3rd generation coins are way more in demand and people are in talks of the 4th generation. I'm wondering if BTC will ever see the light of day.

Tether deposited another 400 million USD to BTC, and it's said this is the reason BTC had an upward movement. However, my perspective is a bit blurred and I can't help myself but get more pessimistic about it.

When Bitcoin was around 18k, the only thing that was talked was whether it was the biggest bubble in history or not and (if it is) when it's going to burst. Now that it went up to 20k and went back down to 9k, it looks more of a bubble than not.

I'd like to hear what forum people say.

Every market like stocks commodities Interest rates etc see corrections upto 75 % which doesn't mean that they will not go back up higher and history proves otherwise.  These corrections in fact are healthy. There can be many many factors behind these moves.  Bitcoin being the first crypto with early mover advantage and with improvements like Lightning Network in the works, Bitcoin will keep growing and will see new highs in the near future.

may. After a strong rebound, btc and the crypto market are showing signs of recovery. Maybe btc is $ 20k again, but it will probably take a long time because of the current drop in investment. In addition, the impact of the recent downturn has made people fear the safety of their investments, so it is certain that the market will grow slowly.

For now, I think the price of BTC is unable to return to 20,000 US dollars, because the sharp drop in BTC prices, which has hit the confidence of investors, it will take a long time to recover. But I think in March 2018 may be close to 20,000 US dollars price.

I agree , but i think if this ''crash'' hurt your confidence in bitcoin you didn't know what you were getting in to. But bitcoin has gone from $1000+ tot $150 to go to 20k. So keep that in mind.

$ 20,000 will come now, now and never when you can buy it from $ 11,000 and wait it up to $ 20,000, whether it's up to that level I believe is premature with the potential of Bitcoin!

The increase in price of Btcoins was too much in the year 2017 and thus this correction occurred. It will be $20000 this year itself.

I don't know. I think bitcoin price will be around $12.000-$14.000 in couple next month.

I think bitcoin although the price up and down we never see 20k again as of now because some countries imposed a banned and not legalize that would affect some of the investors but I feel before the end of this year btc will rise up the price more than 20k.

It will reach $20000 in next six months and then $30000 by the ned of the year. Thus by investing your money now, you can triple it an year.

Well, Bitcoin is still more valuable than the 3rd or 4th generations of the coins, even though its speed isn't fast and the fees are huge but still its used in higher volumes due to its huge community. According to me, its still in the light of day, and it might take the others some good time to reach its level of value and community.

Tether deposited another 400 million USD to BTC, and it's said this is the reason BTC had an upward movement. However, my perspective is a bit blurred and I can't help myself but get more pessimistic about it.
I haven't heard about that 400 million USD news, but I am still confident that Bitcoin will have its upward movement again, and that moment will not be limited to the Tether only. Be optimistic about the Bitcoin, and I am very sure that it wont disappoint you.

When Bitcoin was around 18k, the only thing that was talked was whether it was the biggest bubble in history or not and (if it is) when it's going to burst. Now that it went up to 20k and went back down to 9k, it looks more of a bubble than not.

If its a bubble then keep in mind that it wont burst any soon. I know that some people might get discouraged because of its down movements, the way they got discouraged when China started banning it, but if you really look at the matter, you will be amazed that how good is the current time to invest in it. The Bitcoin bubble is way far from its completion, $20k is just the beginning, you might see more such levels in future.

This year we will definitely see the price of bitcoin exceeding 20,000 dollars. However, this will not be a very fast process. Bitcoin is heavily influenced by various bad news factors, negative decisions of governments and controlling bodies. In addition, in order to rise well in price, bitcoin urgently needs to solve his internal problems and shortcomings associated with his transactions. This will take some time.
Bitcoin, of course, sharply rising to $ 20,000 last month, has clearly manifested itself as a financial bubble. That is, he showed the risk of his investment from this point of view. However, it has great potential in this respect and, perhaps, can inflate its price to hundreds of thousands of dollars without any problems. Nobody knows the ultimate capabilities of the crypto currency.

Now bitcoin will take lomg time  to reach 20K line because other competitors' altcoins are now getting grow and more popular for example - Ethereum, Bitcoin cash and neo etc etc.  Price of anything increase when demand and supply rules works in well manner.

Yeah, why not. Bitcoin will rise again, I would like to see that 20k USD number again. All we need to do now is just invest in and price will grow up easily.
A lot of peoples are afraid to lose their money in investment, but you need to take a risk to get something in return.

It seems people have received their crystal balls from Amazon faster than me :(

John McAfee said 1 000 000$ by 2020! You're such lowballers boys!

haha, just kidding, no offense :)

Who knows though? I do think that there is more to come. People freak out like it was the end everytime there is a correction - everytime.

In a volatile market like that it happens often at best. Retracement was to be expected (easier said after the fact though I know).

In any way, who thought such unsupported growth could last 'forever'?

Hang on...the road is bumpy but we'll get there!

Sit thight and try to enjoy the ride.

Good 'luck' :)

The 2000$  mark has become a permanent  level in bitcoin trading history  chart.  The possibility  of reaching that level again is very high. I am anticipating  that it will even pass that 20k dollar mark by the end of first quarter  of 2018

Then, if you are a pesimist one, then why are you holding all your money on Bitcoin? it is like being a wealthy man, you have millions of dollars, and you putting everything on the same commoditie, currency, investment, and so on.. Do not do that, if you do not trust in bitcoin after all, just diversify your entire investment between a few more altcoins.

For bitcoin $20000 mark is not a big task since it met that mark already. Every currency related things will always have a up and down trend but for Bitcoin every one is talking something negative because it is new concept of digital currency. I hope $20000 mark can be crossed in another 6 months maximum and Bitcoin is expected to reach $40000 this year end, this has predicted by experts in cryptocurrency.

Of course. There is a must unless something big is happening. This is only a matter of time.
For 20K, it is only a very small amount when compare to the future price. That's what I am believing.

Wait so who cares about all that crap. So tether is investing in bitcoin with people's money? Lol that's priceless. What a sketchy crypto or company or whatever the hell they're supposed to be. Oh and 400MM in volume wouldn't really do all that much but whatever. They are free to believe whatever they want.

yes of course bitcoin will return to the price of more than $ 20k this year seems bitcoin price is expected to exceed the price of $ 50k so this is the right time to buy as much bitcoin as possible, take advantage of the price of bitcoin Still cheap, do not be afraid bitcoin is a digital currency and the future will be full of all digital technology so it will definitely trigger a bitcoin price increase.

I'll throw my opinion out there. Why not? I'm not a broker, nor some pipe smoking professor. I do smoke a pipe, but that's irrelevant :D My advice is worth at least what you paid for it.

First, yes, Bitcoin will again see 20K. I'd say relatively soon.

I've watched, sometimes participated, in this magnificent experiment almost from the beginning. The blockchain technology is changing the way money works, whether the old school likes it or not. Unlike paper money, this is revolutionary, rather than merely inflationary. It takes money back to the gold standard without gold. Gold used to be the braking factor on what politicians and other scamming bastards could pull off. Now, it's looking like it will be Bitcoin and a few of its successors.

As for the recent correction, if you've been involved as long as I have, you've seen this (literally) a hundred times. Exuberance, followed by a runup that's crazy, making a few people rich and a lot of people cry because they are too damn stupid to pay attention.

Bitcoin is new.

Yes, NEW. It's not quite ten years old. What we, in the generations now living, call 'old' money, is not particularly old. Fiat currencies have been around for a while, in various forms, but they are basically a 20th century phenomenon. There are examples that go back further, of course, but the general acceptance of unbacked paper dates to the middle of the 20th century.

Further, Fiat currency has an unparalleled record. Not ONCE has it failed to fail, and yes I am including the "almighty dollar" in that. The year before Bitcoin, it experienced BY THEIR ADMISSION an 85 percent inflation. Yeah, they called it an increase in the money supply, quantative easing, and all sorts of other bullshit, but inflation is simple. You add to the money supply.

Bitcoin is currently inflationary as well, but since it's modeled on gold mining, it's ultimately deflationary. Contrary to Keynes' very eloquent bullshit, a coin that constantly INCREASES in value vs goods is NOT a crisis nor a cause for concern. It promotes stability, thrift, and savings. Bitcoin ain't there yet, but it can be.

Certain developments that are clearly in the pipe militate towards a wild ride, followed by a degree of stability. One is the lightning network. When Bitcoin can be used for fractional payments at or above the speed of VISA, 'traditional' fiat is doomed. Because by its very nature, no government can control or manipulate the SUPPLY of Bitcoin, they must either accept it or go to war against it. It seems that most governments are being cautious (in itself somewhat miraculous) and looking at ways to incorporate it into the 'traditional' structure without too much disruption. That is a reasonable, but again doomed, approach.

Because this is disruptive. There is NO way to hide the movement of BTC. There is no way to manipulate its supply without destroying everything that makes it valuable, and given the huge network, probably no physical way of doing it anyway.

The rise in fees and congestion of the blockchain are serious issues, for different reasons. The rise in fees is a GOOD thing. Right in the beginning, in Satoshi's white paper, it was the DESIGN of bitcoin that it would continue to be mined long after the block reward was gone or minimal BECAUSE of transaction fees. Now, he didn't forsee (at least that we know) that it would become as centralized as it has. But it still holds. Gold is expensive, and transporting and guarding it is too. This makes Bitcoin a premier method of exchange!

But the network congestion, coming on top of the high fees, militates the other way. There are a number of proposed solutions, some better than others, but this is not as big a thing as it seems, right here, right now. Why? Because Bitcoin is moving more towards the role of a store of value and a coin for large transactions. This is good. However, this does present the myriad choices of alts. This too has been the same throughout history. One Ring To Rule Them All rolls off the tongue nicely, and has no utility.

In my opinion, as things stand, Bitcoin is likely to take on the storage role, and BCH the everyday transactional role. And I see Lightning Network as the bridge between the consumer, who isn't so paranoid about 'trustless' transactions to begin with, and the movement of bitcoin. VISA does not move that much money in a given moment, in reality. It RECORDS that much movement. Settlement is daily, weekly, sometimes even monthly. Lightning can, and will, settle more transactions, faster, than visa. That it is not AS trustless as bitcoin is NOT a major issue. What IS a major issue is that it will make it possible for Joe Public to stop off at Starbucks and buy an overpriced cup of coffee with his Lightning wallet FASTER than he could do it with his Visa card. The consumer public is all about convenience.

This will lead to wider adoption without a great deal of hype, and this will be a continual upward pressure on Bitcoin while simultaneously taking some of the pressure OFF of the blockchain. Plus, it should work with other coins :D

My short term prediction is that BTC will continue to bounce back and forth in slightly narrowing swings with the upper bound at about 12.5K and the lower at 10K for a few weeks, with the swings getting narrower for a while, and then it will break upwards. I'm guessing right around the end  of February that the floor will raise significantly, while the upper bound remains similar. I base this on Tax Returns. The American market, particularly, finds itself flush with temporary and illusory cash right around then.

My longer term prediction is looser in terms of time, because of several factors. One, we do not know what China is going to do regarding Cryptos. We can infer from the backlash that South Korea is going to tread carefully to avoid civil unrest. I think that crisis has passed. Japan, having adopted it as a legal instrument of trade, will put some upward pressure on it.

The two wildcards from where I sit are BCH, which has already addressed the scaling issue, and Lightning. If Lightning gets a good public debut by the end of March, I would bet those who bought at the ATH and held will be laughing a lot, and those buying and hodling now will be hysterical. The day that bitcoin, even via a sidechain, achieves 40K transactions a minute, is the death knell for traditional fiat. Nations at that time will have NO CHOICE but to acknowledge Bitcoin, and probably approve it as legal tender.

Given its global scale, and the fact that there will never be more than 21 million bitcoins mined, it HAS to rise in value. The moment it goes mainstream is the end of it being inflationary. The World's Population (http://www.worldometers.info/world-population/) stands at 7.5 billion and rising. Medical technology at it's extreme edges is ready to extend our lives. Do the math. Bitcoin at 20K was a bubble, but only because it was premature. This isn't tulips, and it's not .coms. (though that one turned out to also be more a matter of being premature than being wrong). It's something new. A means of owning wealth that does NOT CARE from whence you came. Anyone can get it, and it will grow in value so long as its utility exists. Nuclear war could render it valueless, maybe, but not much else at this point.

Buy and HODL while you still can get a good chunk!

Absolutely, bitcoin will hit new highs, but not until weak hands are shaken. A market cannot move parabolically upwards perpetually. A healthy market requires corrections, and that's what we are seeing now.

Let's just wait and be optimistic because the correction is already done during those bloody days, IMO. As we all know, Bitcoin is always unexpected and it can rise extremely well and even break the 20,000$ mark in the next month or so.

Yes, we’d see again the price bitcoin will rise 20k we just have to wait and waited for it happened, today, the price bitcoin began to rise, according to the news I price bitcoin will rise to a 20k time the new year China or the highway China, so we just have to wait at that time, I’m sure on the highway China price bitcoin will beyond 20k.

While I agree with most of your replies (that talk about the technology), it bothers me how the futures contracts have impact on the market.

It is no coincidence that BTC dipped to 9000 on the last day of the contracts. Next month they can just inflate it for their own profit, who knows. I'm a firm believer that the governments do the same thing. And this fluctuations only bother the bigger investors, which, then again, influences the market.

In general i also agree with the discussion. but what makes me doubt the price action is tether. Tether has no real backing and to me it seems the company can make tether as the governments print money.

perhaps cause it always happened which is when it dump then it will pump back and surge but now i think its impossible to touch down again that valued, cause as we noticed its been a month that the price still fluctuated maybe this is a long arrangement of bitcoin price.and i have doubts maybe the price will jump again into the high value before mid of 2018

For now, I think the price of BTC is unable to return to 20,000 US dollars, because the sharp drop in BTC prices, which has hit the confidence of investors, it will take a long time to recover. But I think in March 2018 may be close to 20,000 US dollars price.
so true
everything will come back but it still takes a long time, and many are predicting the same thing as you, but I really ask what is really in March? and why are people so optimistic that month?

This is not impossible that bitcoin will reach 20k+ again.Because bitcoin price is decreasing and increasing unexpectedly. You can see that bitcoin price reached almost 20k in the year 2017.Recently it decreases for some bad and fake news.It already starts to recover and now its price is almost 13k.Bitcoin is a modern currency and people use it in a large number. So its necessacity is increasing day by day and its price will surely increase.I can predict that bitcoin price will cross 20k+ in the year 2018 and this day not far from us, well will see bitcoin 20k+ again.

No one knows what future brings but Bitcoin is now in the media and thre will be a lot of articles and reports if it ever reaches new all time highs. This will attract more people to invest in BTC. But of course, no one can say if and when this will happen. For now people should hold their BTC and see wha t future will bring. If you do not believe in BTC and that they one day will solve the issue with transaction speed and fees then I would suggest to better hold another crypto like ETH or Ripple or whatever you think has a great future.

Well, as far as I know this dip happens also on the same month last year but still crypto market gains x2 or higher by the end of 2017. If ever that would happen the same way as before then no doubt bitcoin will gain also the $20k or even more by the end of 2018.

I'd like to hear what forum people say.
hopefully yes i want to see that 20k again like the past year it was the biggest price i want to be with us again and again.

From my under bitfinex is behind tether and there's a funny twitter account that I saw the other day and it tweets when tether prints out or make new money. Thing is that many exchanges include it because they can skip the regulation process about the dollar and because of his is crypto it's easier to implement. Furthermore it doesn't seem to hurt tether price at this moment because people believe and agree upon it be worth one us dollar.

It is not a bubble. The government is just making moves to make the value of bitcoin like a bubble so that investors will stop investing. The plan is to make btc as if it was a dangerous type of currency.

The recent price drop has taken place due to the bam of cryptocurrency exchanges functioning on South Korea which has been contributing a large scale support to the community. Along with this the regulations that has been getting initiated into China who has been positioned at the top list of bitcoin using countries lead to the drop and now it has been getting retained.

There is quite a bit of resistance at the moment and the altcoin market is pushing back. I think that for bitcoin to go back at such prices buying would have to reinstate a bullish market sentiment once again ebcause right now too many people keep taking profit.

Yes of course, we all know that bitcoin is capable for a big bounce back. Its only a matter of time now when it will happen. I think it takes at least half year to get back on track. With the increasing demand of bitcoin to the investor and users, price of bitcoin will soon be at peak again.

I agree i also think that bitcoin will definitely reach 20k in a few months and maybe even 30k at the end of 2k18. Because the value will go up a lot because there are more investors joining in. And the lower value coins will also get more attention because of that.

It's only a matter of when it will be that level again, for me I'm guessing mid-February the latest. Once it recovers then we start to see surges like before, it'll just slam through $25k, $30k etc and then consolidate and correct. Please do your own research and come to your own conclusions, by no means am I giving financial advice here. Just a guy enjoying a discussion.

What we can do is keep waiting, I don't think we'll see 20k+ in a short time.
I think this is a good time for bitcoin to fall, which is to prepare for a new height, and the more you fall, the more you bounce back.

If you are a bitcoin lover you will not do that, just trust bitcoin. Bitcoin price rightnow is still high so tha 20k+ price is not imposible to hit.
Bitcoin is starting to become popular and this will attract more investors and the more the investors the higher the price of bitcoikln will be.
For now just relax and calm down, and wait.

Yes, we will see 20k+ after Chinese New Year, after this big celebration by all the Asia country. We will also see 20K+ when bitcoin fully integrate with lightning network and reduce the transaction fee in order to compete with others. 20K+ is easy.  ;D

Judging how the rate of bitcoin value gradually rising, we can say that it is stable enough to reach 20,000 again or it might even surpass that, because chinese new year is nearing and a lot of people especially on the asian countries might spend their bitcoins for gifts and such. Basically, we have to keep our eyes on bitcoin during holidays because it is when its value will increase theoretically.

I think the rise and fall in prices of bitcoin is a volatility. You can see in the market that other altcoins are down, like bitcoin. no more.
Or you can see this is advertising for bitcoin coins. One is very fast and down very fast. Therefore, investors will think that if the price is low, buy and sell will be very profitable.
That is a very clear truth that I think most people know.

For now, I think the price of BTC is unable to return to 20,000 US dollars, because the sharp drop in BTC prices, which has hit the confidence of investors, it will take a long time to recover. But I think in March 2018 may be close to 20,000 US dollars price.
I also think that BTC won't be able to hit the 20k USD mark in the first quarter of 2018. A lot of investors will wait for more upward movements before they buy bitcoin. But I'm very positive that it will definitely hit that 20k coz when the price is continuously increasing a lot of investors will rush to buy more btc that will make the price even higher.

Tether is the joker in the pack, according to me. The worry about government crackdown and manipulations in the futures market will look tame if tether turns out to be a scam. Tether might provide a boost in the short term, but it poses a big risk to Bitcoin. Other than that, I think Bitcoin will continue to slowly rise in value to cross $20k sometime this year.

You can't say it will never reach £20k plus.  But it's not looking like it's going to happen any time soon.  I must say I thought yesterday we were in for another drop but it didn't happen and then today again it's up a bit.  But it could go either way now.  In another 12 or so hours we might have an better idea in what direction it's moving.

It's is good to be pessimistic than being optimistic, let just think about that Bitcoin price will increase again, hoping and believing that it will grow again, also it is good time to buy Bitcoin, because of its low price, we don't know yet when it will rise up but we need to be prepared for what will happen, think of the possible outcome, think what will help to you to earn more bitcoin.

As famoust investor say, one should fear when most of the greedy people are rejoicing with their revenue, and one should be feel greedy, when most of the people are worrying about their investment. For me, this is the right time to add more possession rather than selling them out. I still trust that bitcoin will reach and even surpasses the all time high of $20k. Most of the analyst says that if bitcoin is a bubble it will never stop goin down, but as you notice then bitcoins is starting to going upwards, meaning this is the time people are starting to trust the crypto again.   ;)

We should see that price this year, but its not gonna be easy for Bitcoin to rice up so much , I mean at this time Bitcoin has dropped  a lot and it's still drooping, its possible for Bitcoin to not to $20k in a short time

But Bitcoin can rice up to $ 20k, it should be and it's gonna be maybe at the end of this year , or maybe more faster. Always when Bitcoin dropped he rice up again with a double price , I hope it's gonna be like that

Now that it went up to 20k and went back down to 9k, it looks more of a bubble than not.

yes, most probably by the first half of 2017 we will also surpass the barrier of 20k and cross 30 k. The forces of demand are heavily influencing the price so patience is essential for the surety of the price to start increasing at a steady rate.

This platform is not for the weak and impatient. Bitcoin will only be on your side once you truly know its power by believing that it could turn your life into something that you would never imagine. When it comes to its market value, many traditional systems will try to neutralize or eliminate this powerful platform but the crypto users will be the one protecting it. As long as it serves it purpose of existence, many will still trust bitcoin hence the inevitable rise of its value.

So keep that in mind.
the chance of bitcoin to go up and touch 20k back is big enough, even that is not impossible the price will far exceed that number.
we know alot of new people will join bitcoin economy, thats how the capital market value and volume becomes more sky rocket.

What's good about being pessimistic if you had invested to something big and you are thinking to it that way? you maybe mistype it that its good to be optimistic than to be pessimistic. @OP I know things are starting to give you doubt about bitcoin and you are starting to believe those folks who are saying that bitcoin is a bubble. But if you'll look what happened on 2013, almost the same thing happened recently. So implying that the bubble has burst is applied when they started seeing bitcoin's price going down which is on a good timing to say it. Stick to bitcoin and without a doubt we'll see $20k soon.

Just hold your coins, it will take more time for it to be back at the mark you wanted.

You can see that in every year January is the most unsuccessful month with respect to increment in rates of cryptocurrency but as the February starts rates start increasing and it goes up with rest of year and if we suppose the same trend this year then yes we will again see 20k+.

There are many issues now that affect bitcoin and need to resolve first before btc will hit big again. Don't panic everything will go back to its right place. The best thing we can do is be patient and work hard for us to earn more bitcoin and for us to be happy when bitcoin recovers.

My Friend, I don't think you are having a good approach towards the Crypto market because I can see that fall of 50% in bitcoin prices last week has made your mind and it has changed your mindset and approach. Remember that first of all make your approach clear and some trading rules clear in your mind so that you can differentiate between the downtrend and correction which will help you to identify the correction and downtrend in a much better way.

And i think it is possible for us to see the 20k again because the bloodbath which you are referring to is just a correction and in trading the bitcoin you are expected to see the correction of about 50% to 75% of the overall price in action. You can even cross-check the previous data or backtested data where you will find the similar type of correction of about 50% to 70% which is very common in bitcoin and other cryptocurrency coins.

Well with the current trend of bitcoin price, I think we won't see the $20k this coming months. The price increase a little higher then suddenly it will drop again. From the time of bitcoin price correction, we haven't seen yet any huge increase in price so I guess we will see that price again at the end of this year.

Bitcoin is remarkable, the sole asset I know off that can bubble successively.  Usually a massive bubble kills the underlying asset when it pops.  But this is already the third massive bubble in bitcoin, after the one in 2011, and the one in December 2013.  Each time we got an order of magnitude difference between the starting point, the ATH (peak of the bubble) and the slower agonizing decay, but which, surprisingly, lives up again, towards the next bubble.  Bitcoin looks like champaign: when  one bubble burst, another is preparing itself.

I remember reading threads between 2014 and 2016 "will we ever see 1000+ again ?".

Isn't correction suppose to be just once? It just had a down swing of 53%, call that a correction. Now you're talking about "another" correction movement which is upward and 70%? The word correction itself is self-explanatory. Something just can't have multiple huge "correction"s, there is another term for that "fluctuation"..

It's not going to happen immediately, probably it will take some time before we see a new ATH because it does seem too soon after such a big dip. I do think the price will recover to 15k+ fairly soon though. By mid february or march I think we might be in a position where 20k+ becomes a reality.

Bitcoin will always have that moment that it will go down at times, just consider it a blessing in disguise nowadays. As you can see that bitcoin will start to go high on a specific phase, it will really depend on the demand thay bitcoin has, as you can see many bitcoin holders are still holding their ace, which is whu. Bitcoin start to go down. The cycle is not being meet, just like a cycle of money. But as I can say that bitcoin will raise $20K and more.

When discussions are made about bitcoin hitting "$20,000 again ", my curiosity leads me to wonder whether bitcoin really stayed at that height of $20,000?

I do not think it stayed at that level for more than 24 hours, it only got there by a spike as all time high. Therefore, if it got there by a spike , that means it didn't basically stay there but pushed out profit to "smart"and lucky investors.

However, what I think made bitcoin got to that height around December was the rush of the season as there were much transaction with bitcoin. So, talking about hitting $20,000 and maybe surpassing that figure , it won't come in a rush. It will be a gradual process unlike the fast run witnessed in December.

Again, the reason that $20,000 might be a gradual step is that, we are now having other coins, which OP started as 3rd and 4th generation coins. This coins are being tested by investors because of high transaction of bitcoin and delays.

So does happen to bitcoin, Bitcoin records great heights of crypto world, If it goes on incresing there will be a unbalnced in the market which is not healthy at any cost,
these correction will improve the analysis of bitcoin, thus lending a platform for the further development, so don't worry.
As it goes like that we will see bitcoin crossing 50k+ in coming years.

Actually I did not see any big crash at all. This happened so many times and even a few times within a year, that I was not worried. However, as many people entered the crypto market just recently or in the last few month, for them, this was their first "crash" and a lot of articles even stated, that the crypto bubble popped. It is quite possible, that the bubble can pop at some point in the near future, but then the markets will really bleed. This was nothing compared to that. After that hopefully the cryptos will recover healthily step by step.

To answer your question: Before all of this happens as described as above, we will see 20k and even more.

I expect the BTC price to get to $15-20k this year. The rate of investment dropped because of the panic and a lot of people expected BTC to fold up. I'm sure after some weeks they'll come back an we'll even see more investments because people will be more sure that BTC isn't going anywhere. An increase in investment will increase BTC demand which will also increase its price.

I'd like to hear what forum people say.

It made me confuse that maybe the halves of it are own by the Korean people that after the crash $20k is become $9k. If this is true then we will need a replacement for South Korean investors so that the value will back to $20k again but still without them i believed that the $20k will be achieve by this year.

I think it is likely that Bitcoin will rise again, and if it will, it will be far beyond 20K. However, we may have to go through a bear market before this happens. Not for sure, or course, but it is a possibility.

Yeah, I'm quite optimistic about this. Just keep calm and wait, we'll see even more than 20k. The price has already begun to recover. After such falls, over time,  it always starts to beat its records again.

I am sure that BTC is still very much undervalued at these current prices. My predictions 6 / 8 months ago were that BTC would reach $10 in 2017 and $20K in 2018. I am very confident in the direction, I think the market probably got ahead of itself just a little both on the way up, and then in selling off in the past few days. I think $20K is no problem in the next few months on a sustainable basis, and then the next leg up will be even more breathtaking.

HODL on tight my friend, this is going to be a bumpy flight, but we will get there in the end.

Of course we will and it's much more greater price soon. We can't predict what will happen though but base on the resistance and the stability of Bitcoin and other Altcoins it clearly shows that it is not a bubble after all or am I wrong about it. Bitcoin got back to 9k-ish this past few days and I think that is for the all year low and it will gain through out the years.

If Bitcoin won't die, it will very likely climb back to 20K. In one week, one month, one years or more. That's the main issue: you don't know when.

The crash did not fall that far. The price is still over $8,000.00 per Bitcoin so we are still doing pretty well.

Hold on guys price is recovering once again and now we are close to 13000 usd once again and I am sure that price will increase once again in next few weeks or months so better to buy some more now as price is not too high and hold the existing coins for the betterment of the future as holding longer will give better and higher profits and bitcoin definitely has potential to achieve that price once again and the only thing we need to have is a patience to hold it for the right time to sell it at a right price to get the best profits.

yes, we will see again bitcoin price reaches 20k more. but it takes a long time. I think that sometimes bitcoin makes us shock and make us worry and fear. in 2017 during the month of november, bitcoin reached a high value, and make me surprise, and today bitcoin also makes us worry and fear because the price is down in the short time.

Corrections in bitcoin is normal and we already experienced price drop before, so there's nothing to worry about. Even some countries banned or planning to ban btc, it will still survive because there are still a lot of people investing and using it. Also the price starts to go up, its below $13k today and i think it can reach to $20k this year. Lets all be positive about it.

Bitcoin need some good news in order for it to reach those levels again. ETFs right now seem to be out of the equation, looking at the latest position made by the US Securities and Exchange Commission, stating that bitcoin needs more regulation and liquidity before ETFs can be approved. Forks are not working anymore, as a way to pump bitcoin price. There are plenty of them happening right now, and no one cares anymore. I guess that the only thing left is the lightning network, so until that's implemented, I think bitcoin will be trading normally, but with no major boosts. We are recovering well though, so I hope we get to $14k at least and stay there for a while, waiting for some good news.

For now, I think the price of BTC is unable to return to 20,000 US dollars, because the sharp drop in BTC prices, which has hit the confidence of investors, it will take a long time to recover. But I think in March 2018 may be close to 20,000 US dollars price.

I will wait for the good come back of bitcoin this year.  I hope that this March 2018 is the good one and finally  reach again at $20,000.

Bitcoin's likelihood of seeing $ 20,000 again depends on user characteristics. So if there is a constantly inflated price, we will have a bad scenario again. 50% of the excess value lost. In fact, Bitcoin spontaneously shows a price increase, but excessive expectations are bringing the ballooning phenomenon.

I believe that by the beginning of February bitcoin will start climbing upwards. Apparently, the fall of January 16-17 was due to the futures trading at the Chicago SBOE. On January 26, the expiration of monthly options will take place, from which I expect the price of bitcoins to fall to $ 10,000. Then the BTC will go up. Most likely, most of the big players purchased futures options to raise in the price of the BTC in $10,000. And the higher the bitcoin price is, the greater their profit.

I do not think that the question of the price of bitcoin today comes first. Today, the task of bitcoin is to eliminate the shortcomings in it with the slowness and high cost of transactions and it will depend on this in the future whether it will grow to 20,000 or more. If now bitcoin loses its popularity due to its shortcomings, then it can not grow rapidly in price.

$ 20,000 is the price that can totally happen and it's all just a matter of time. If you look at the Bitcoin price increase chart, you can be sure Bitcoin will tend to rise rather than down. I think 2018 will be Bitcoin's most successful year because the price may soon reach $ 100,000

OP is totally right. With corrections like these, we are bound to return to $20,000. But we just have to be patient, though. Sooner or later, the market will bounce back to $20,000 or more. Just hodl long enough and prepare some cash to buy some bitcoins.

Everyone thought that Bitcoin will double the price in 2018. But the opposite has happened. At present, the price of Bitcoin has dropped to 12,000 $. Therefore, it may take a long time to reach Bitcoin's price of 20,000 $. Other coins like Etharium are very popular It has increased and its price has increased. Bitcoin's price will certainly be worth 20 thousand dollars in the future, but wait. Coins should be purchased.

Big dump and bigger pump is how.For 20K, it is only a very small amount when compare to the future price. That's what I am believing. The forces of demand are heavily influencing the price so patience is essential for the surety of the price to start increasing at a steady rate.

Even though there has been a price crashed happening right now but for sure bitcoin can slowly recover from it. I think by the end of the first quarter and the start of the second quarter it grew as high as 20,000 USD we'll just have to be positive towards the other people would be attracted on investing in bitcoin and we have to hold onto our coins while that happens.

That seems like a fairly optimistic target to me but one that is entirely feasible. Once the FUD that you mentioned has fully cleared then money will start to flow back in to bitcoin and we'll see the price push up towards 20k again. I'm sure! If you compare bitcoin with real gold (they are often called "virtual gold"). Remember the demand for real gold. Once $ 300 for one ounce was considered very expensive. During the 2008 crisis, gold rose and reached $ 1,800 per ounce. And what is gold? Than it is provided? It's just metal. Bitcoins are also not provided with anything. However, the potential opportunity to make it an international currency makes for unlimited growth prospects!

they give us a little confident to climb up when it go up from $9k to $11k quickly but seems like it is a false bullish, the market go down again and hopefully it won't as deep as the haters wanted to disappear. we are in pessimistic phase indeed.
The main issue here is not how quick it will come back to $20k it is how far we are going to hold about this one, actually, what happening now is not a crash at all, it was just a correct after the bubble popped happened last year. It would rise once again, but not this month we will just have to wait a couple of months before it happens again.

It will not be a quick recover for bitcoin. I am the same as you are. I am getting pessimistic about bitcoins value increasing to 20k dollars mark however as long as it has a value it can still fight through the top. We have to remember that bitcoin is running out and as it gets rarer its value will increase. I guess my only solution is not just invest in btc but invest to other cryptocurrencies.

Big whales sale when they want to push price down in order to acquire more bitcoins for less money, not periodically they do when circumstances allows that, they plan it for months I think.
Main issue is not in the speed, its in our capability to wait month or a year, some of us can wait a month but for a year many prople can change their minds. I believe in recovery, and I think soon we will see 20.000$ again, January is always a financial problem for many, people spend money for holidays, companies are paying taxes, and many things happen in beginning, little pause here and in next months we will start to rise.

For now, I think the price of BTC is unable to return to 20,000 US dollars, because the sharp drop in BTC prices, which has hit the confidence of investors, it will take a long time to recover. But I think in March 2018 may be close to 20,000 US dollars price.

I believe the same, people support BTC so it will not get lower than 8k, most likely will be brought up to 20k by March as per my predictions too. Unless we keep experimenting bad news from big players such as China and Korea for sure...

I hope you are all right....despite holding BTC right since early 2014 & all that has happened since then, I'm inclined to sell maybe 20% of my coins in case they fall to $5000 or as someone predicted yesterday $1800. Nobody KNOWS for sure that we will ever see $20K again.

(I'm all-in in Bitcoin for the record) I don't want to be a pessimist but I'm kinda going in to that direction.

We all know crypto bled quite bad the past week. Because of bunch of government issues, futures contacts, unconfirmed transactions and what not... When Bitcoin was around 18k, the only thing that was talked was whether it was the biggest bubble in history or not and (if it is) when it's going to burst. Now that it went up to 20k and went back down to 9k, it looks more of a bubble than not.

I'd like to hear what forum people say.
Bitcoin is gonna rise again and this for sure and if talking about 3rd and 4th generation coins then you should know that bitcoin is still more in demand and even has a higher value. Looking at the circumstances you could say that Bitcoin is a bubble , but only if we talk about last few days , otherwise i personally don't believe that it is a bubble. You should always look any situation from a positive point of view as now you with the drop in price you could buy more btc and when it rises back you would have more profit. Reaching 20k is easy for bitcoin as it will reach new level of heights this year .

We all know that bitcoin has volatile features and one thing more that bitcoin fall down is the transaction fees. But if they fix that problem maybe bitcoin hits $20000+. So better holding your bitcoin today, if tomorrow will reach that price then sell it.

I like how everyone is still positive and optimistic about bitcoin. Yes, indeed, bitcoin surely will go back again on track and reach 20k$ in a matter of short time. As a matter of fact, bitcoin is unpredictable and always in fluctuated movements. People should not lose faith in bitcoin.

Personally, I believe that bitcoin has a really prosperous future if the problems of the high transactions fees are solved, thus people will be happier than ever. I believe in both bitcoin and bitcoin users. I will never stop supporting it.

It is plenty of companies who lost more than 30 - 50 percent of their total value and they are still in here. They recovered back again and no one knows how.

The same happens with bitcoin, it will recover eventually at some point. It is going up again.
Every market like stocks commodities Interest rates etc see corrections upto 75 % which doesn't mean that they will not go back up higher and history proves otherwise.  These corrections in fact are healthy. There can be many many factors behind these moves.

This is just a consolidation phase in my opinion. Bitcoin will make a big move up, just because of the limited supply and the massive interest. However, it may take a few months to really take off again.

I am also optimistic that we can see bitcoin to hit that 20K mark. There is even an analysis that it will spike up to 50K at the end of year 2018. You know that there will be sunshine after these cloudy days. The sun will always appear after the storm.  :)

Indeed, be optimistic bitcoin will touch 20,000$ again or even more before this year 2018 end. Bitcoin was so fluctuative hence, it is not possible for it to happen. Yet, day by day cryptocommunity is become larger and this means that the demand will rise same on its value. Always remember that don't panic and be wise on our decision because it might lead to our loss plus, have a trust on it.

Yes and based on my analysis our target is now higher than 20,000$ which is 25,000$ as even though we just touched the 20,000$ marked it is now serving as out all time high. Right now we are going through a major volatility in which we are seeing Bitcoin's price go up from 12,000$ and go down to 9900$ which is really annoying at times as we the traders are playing with it for profit. Now the next question is of course when. But I don't have an exact answer for that as we are not yet at the end of this major wave.

Of course maybe in near future I'll see bitcoin reach that 20k mark because we all know that bitcoin is the king of cryptocurrency so there's a possibility of that kind of price to happen. And the year is just starting so there's a lot of good things to happen, so just relax, enjoy and don't panic whatever happens to bitcoin. Being updated on what's happening is one of the ways you can do to make a better income in the future, and lastly just hold your bitcoins and let bitcoin do the work in the next few months.

The year 2018 is still very long and the chances of a much higher rise are still very open. I also have a high sense of optimism to believe that the Bitcoin price increase could exceed the 20,000USD rate. Increasing trust in Bitcoin and also increasingly using Bitcoin in all financial transactions that we do then it can make Bitcoin prices increasing. This can not be denied because the increasing demand will give positive value to the development of Bitcoin.

It is not just $20k but it can be doubled or tripled compare to what we are expecting. Yes, it is very long way before we will come up to that price again, so as soon as the price increase make sure that you have sold at least some part of your bitcoin so you can enjoy the fruit of your long waited price, and that time would be the time to celebrate.

However, I think in middle of 2018 may be close to $20,000 price would be reached again.

The rate of $20,000 that you tell here is not a far target for bitcoin. The next possible target will be $15,000 and then $20,000 will come up in the following weeks. The bigger target will be $35,000 this year.

Before the end of 2018 is too long to be honest I feel that bitcoin will reach the feat of $20000 by next three months as first few months of the year is harsh for crypto coins then it goes wild after the correction and since we are in correction period now we cannot predict much but I think 20k will be achieved way before the end of this year.

Surely we'll see the price cross above $20k, it's all about the matter of time. Just think of the price increase that happened from the value around $5000 reaching $20000. Now we're in a higher level than those time period. With this I believe the price will increase once a mass adoption takes place.

If you buy bitcoin today and bitcoin price will rise up high tomorrow until $20k, your bitcoin will double its price. Well bitcoin may have hit 20k a bit too early that's why many people are crying over the value drop his month. If you ask traders january last year if btc can reach 20k, most would say no. Personally 5k at the end of the year was what i was expecting. 20k will again be touched but don't expect the same pace it took during the december run

Well, as far as I know this dip happens also on the same month last year but still crypto market gains x2 or higher by the end of 2017. If ever that would happen the same way as before then no doubt bitcoin will gain also the $20k or even more by the end of 2018.
So enjoy the dip for now, take the chance to buy when they still in dip, sonce we all new that btc still capable on having ATH since cryptocurrency were just only started adopting bu other countries.

I agree before we start thinking of ATH lets take advantage of the current cheap coins because we might never see it go this low once a favourable market is established for cryptocurrencies.

I am hoping that we will but patience will be the key. Bitcoin is naturally volatile so we could not expect that its market balue will continuously increase that backdrops anytime may takeplace. Bitcoin is having a hardtime due to coutries who banned cryptos. Forks are exocted this year which I think will contribute to make the market value of Bitcoin more expensive mid ths year just like what happened last year.

IMHO we will see above 20k during this year but there will be many corrections along the way to reach again to 20k. Probably during Q1 bitcoin is remaining around 10-15k, but I think (and hope) that considering that it doesn't go below 10k and with some important improvements (hello Lighting Network) we'll see a good Q2/Q3 with bitcoin reaching 25k.

This is not the biggest bubble in history, it was a bubble and now there was a correction that is just normal, people need to relax a little bit, I know that the price is not moving much but this is natural the price cannot keep climbing every single month, the only thing we can do now is to be patient, things will improve in the future as the development of bitcoin continues.

But if this situation will continue for bitcoin or in short, if things will not be in favor for , we will need more patience or years. So for now we'll kist patiently wait and hold until its market price again rise and our profit to be bigger in the future.

People were saying the same stuff about bubbles and such back in July 2017 when the market dropped from 140b to 60b but then it jumped back to 180b in like a month.

No need to turn back to 2017, we should look at the upcoming year and the current year. Bitcoin can still get $30k and this is the reality. I'm analyzing the price move of bitcoin and litecoin.
I just can not understand where such confident forecasts come from. To date, I think that many people understand that Bitcoin does not have the values that it shows now. Perhaps it is the demand for Bitcoin that generates such a price. But there are still a lot of questions.

Though we're around the price margin of $10000-$11000, I believe we're close to the $20000 mark. As the price has been already reached in the past, surely it'll reach the respective value and go forward marking new all time high value in an unexpected time same as that the price decline took place.

Based on an article i have read last week, yes we will see bitcoin price reach $20,000 again. In fact it will subsequently surpass that value. Some experts anticipate an even more significant bullish trend. They think bitcoin will hit as much as $40 000 by mid-2018 due to a large number of institutional investors entering the market. Wow, this is something to look forward to.

Every market like stocks commodities Interest rates etc see corrections upto 75 % which doesn't mean that they will not go back up higher and history proves otherwise.  These corrections in fact are healthy. There can be many many factors behind these moves.  Bitcoin being the first crypto with early mover advantage and with improvements like Lightning Network in the works, Bitcoin will keep growing and will see new highs in the near future.
thats why most of bitcoin supporters along with those alts holder waiting for the lightning networks development and release since nothing can make difference from bitcoin towards the issues throwing towards this coin.hope it will be settled and let the btc to recover and grow more than the last pump

Corrections occur on every market. It's normal and good for the market. It's the same with Bitcoin. If there is a positive impulse this correction is over and the price will definitely increase. I think $ 20k is very much possible in the middle of the year.

Do you have a link to said article? I'm always weary of trusting anything I read and prefer to make my own judgments, although there is sort of a self-fulfilling prophecy type thing that goes on in crypto, all the 'experts' predict price rises and so the small guys buy them up and push the price up, hence the prediction comes true.

I think its very posibble to happen, now that its only 1st month of the year and too early to become hopeless.  I bet before the year 2018 overs, The price of bitcoin will smoothly reach the $20K before the year ends.

Many financial experts believe that Bitcoin will be over 20 thousand, and it will happen close to November-December 2018. I support their viewpoint.

remain optimistic, I believe bitcoin will again increase its price. although the bitcoin price movement is currently very slow movement because most people feel hesitant due to the news about the FUD mode issued by the Chinese government. but it certainly can be passed, because bitcoin is the most popular type of digital currency so there is always a correction of value every year.

We can see $20k+ within 3 months if the market doesn't collapse.

We do have our own perception when bitcoin will rise again, though it will take some time since people around are still giving some negative news
which making some weak holders to panic and keep selling what they have in their pockets, but those who already in this business for quite some time
are positive that bitcoin will regain its value and will achieve a new height, personally I think it will take some 3-5 months and we will begin to see the
value to start moving forward, just be patient and be positive as always.

We will see the price of 20+. But what does that change? Do you think that it will immediately sell their bitcoins? No. I'm sure after that people will wait 30+, then 40+. So I don't understand why so many people are interested in the price. We should be able to survive at any price bitcoin. This is the main task of every user of bitcoin.

In fact, the price could be bigger than that because many establishments and businesses are planning to add bitcoin as payment method.

As of present, i dont think the price of Bitcoin is able to return to $20,000, because of the sharp drop in Bitcoin prices that has put confidence into investors, this will probably take a long time to recover. However, I think in middle of 2018 may be close to $20,000 price would be reached again.

I agree with you. It will be difficult to get back to the level of 20k $. It may take some time. I do not think the price will grow as fast as last year. At the end of the year maybe it will be around 20-25k $.
Bitcoin is very volatile, so I do not think we are going to get such a low price, in fact I think that price is not going too happen, we either remain more or less at this price for a long time or we reach higher new all time highs, personally I think we may reach 35k or 40k once we get a deadline from the devs about developments currently happening in bitcoin.

Of course BTC will ever see the light of day, we have to be optimistic for that.
BTC will definitely return to $ 20k for 2018, but month and day I also don`t know for sure.

If we can all make mass purchases, it's possible that bitcoin price growth will occur.
But for now, I can only recommend 'Let's make a positive speculation about bitcoin' so bitcoin will again gain 'trust', in the eyes of the people especially the world.

If we look at bitcoin’s price through the past years. The price are usually low on its first few months. Like what we’re experiencing now. And now is not the right time for us to see $20k maybe because it’s still in recovering stage. But still, there is a high possibility that bitcoin could reach its $20k mark again. I’m guessing by mid-year or maybe later this 2018.

Business would support Bitcoin if it was more capable basically, thats the current problem.   Its possible BTC got too far ahead of itself relative to actual trade done.    The very obvious drawback to excessive transaction fees is the usage is not expanding at the rate the price can justify, its overblown.

20,000 is easily surpassed if they solve the negatives that are holding back BTC.     A obvious point to that gain would be the fall in value for US Dollar over the last year, this is the worlds reserve currency held by billions of people.

If only a small amount of those holders seek alternatives such as Bitcoin then we can see double the ATH of 20,000.    Confidence counts considerably and so far BTC has not done itself any favours by restricting the spread of bitcoin by common population.
Speculators and big business is not enough to drive the price, those people are not the backbone to higher pric.  The worlds largest companies revolve around the simple sale of such things as a can of Coke and that level of commerce needs to be done in BTC.   If bitcoin wont handle it then another crypto will break through and take the trade away.

With this current situation, i think it is hard for Bitcoin to rise up and reach the $20,000 mark easily. I see the price value is slow moving almost to none in which i think this $10,000 are all owners left that keep on holding their bitcoin which like no more investors wants to pour their investments but still there are possibilities especially i read good news in favor of Bitcoin that might change the course and still it was too early for a forecast because who knows lot of good things that might happen for this year.

...  Its possible BTC got too far ahead of itself relative to actual trade done.    ...

Maybe Bitcoin doesn´t need high merchant acceptance or much actual trade to
be a success. It depends on what the main use case of Bitcoin is in your opinion.

I´d argue that Bitcoins main use case is to be a censorship-resistant store of value.
Without possible 2nd layer scaling solutions like the Lightning Network Bitcoin is
inferior to credit cards in terms of transaction times. However, Bitcoin has a known,
completely predictable supply and issuance rate unlike all fiat currencies of the world.
If Bitcoin is indeed a store of value it could be a great success irrespective of whether
it is actually used for payments. I concede that this may not have been the initial
vision of Satoshi Nakamoto, but maybe this is the true purpose of BTC.

If bitcoin is a bubble, the price value would be decreased to zero or close to zero. The current price movement at around 9-11k is still a very profitable market for those who bought at $1k level last year. This is the new starting point for those who just recently entered BTC market. Aim for long term, hodl and be patient to achieve your goal within a year to make profit, never sell on loss. $20k I think is not impossible to reach within Q1 of 2018.

Its market value is now recovering from what happened early this year whereas its market price decreased for about 50%. But at this moment it is now approaching to 12k mark and that is already a signal to invest and earn huge profit as its market value is increasing at this moment. Surely, if this increase will be continuous more profit will be to its uses and investors.

I think before July Bitcoin would reach $20k and expected to reach $60k within this year end as per experts prediction. This prediction is supported by the current Bitcoin price trend as well, it is growing steadily and this move is actually a healthy move compared to robust growth in a short time which would not stabilize for a long period.

When Bitcoin was around 18k, the only thing that was talked was whether it was the biggest bubble in history or not and (if it is) when it's going to burst. Now that it went up to 20k and went back down to 9k, it looks more of a bubble than not.

I'd like to hear what forum people say.

My estimate for this year is a peak at $25k and probably $30k , and $50 next year;
and no it's not a bubble nor a Ponzi, as this asset has an actual and important use for society and technology, it's not like the infamous Tulip that was useless and its value were not justified.

What do you mean by all-in?
You invested all your life savings in it?
It is discouraged, even if BTC will certainly go up.

You should invest what you can afford to lose, to avoid panics.
When the price drops, you should think that you can keep living even if you lose that money, and for that to happen you should have only invested less than 50% of your life savings.

Obviously, we will ever see Bitcoin 20k+ again. Bitcoin an not be dead.  Now its price is very low, it does not mean that the prices will not increase. But it is true that Bitcoin's prices will be back very soon. We need to wait patiently.

Well, staying positive isn't a bad idea :D though i agree. We most likely will break that ath somewhere in the future, hopefully this year. This is a cycle that's happened several times in the past and another thing is that bitcoin is already here to stay. No matter what's going on and how bad things are right now

Agree, if we really support bitcoin we should do it wholeheartedly, bitcoin support is tantamount to supporting technological advances, bitcoin is the future, in the future we will all really use bitcoin or cryptocurrency as the main currency.

Well I guess we have a lot of alts and there are some who has a better technology. Though bitcoin no doubt is the most popular and the pioneer in cryptocurrency therefore, it is liked by many. Till now it is unbeatable but it never mean that it don't have competitors. In current situation people can't switch to the alternatives but once it's price goes up to the level it was, again the transaction fee and confirmation time will be a challenge for it. I think people will definitely shift to a more sophisticated technology. The technology we support is blockchain and developers are already working on it to bring a better currency with a modified blockchain, which could work well than the bitcoin.

Obviously we'll see over $20k again, likely this year.

After the long Bitcoin winter that was 2014, 2015, and 2016, Bitcoin finally sprung out into the world in 2017. I would not be surprised if in a few years we look back on the 2017 - 2020 time period as the rise of Bitcoin from obscurity to global acceptance ($1000 to possibly well into the six figures), with only brief bear markets that in hindsight seem insignificant (including the one we just went through).

I think we're finally at the point of no return. After missing out on the huge gains last year financial firms are gearing up to enter the crypto space in the next 6 months according to an article that came out today in which 20% of financial firms surveyed said they are getting crypto trading up and running in the next 6 months. If big firms plus another onslaught of personal money comes flowing into bitcoin it could make last years rise look absolutely tiny comparatively. In the way that 2013 now barely looks like a bump on the charts 2017 may look that way by 2020.

If time will be favorable to bitcoin and let bitcoin grow before this year ends, then a 20K$ is possible to reach or to break and as people and more investors see that bitcoin is rising, it also be a reason for them to invest.

We are going to see the price of 20,000 dollars again I'm not worried about that but to think that we are going to see that price in the middle of the year or even at the end of this year seems to be very unlikely to me, as a long term holder I do not mind if we see that price until 2019 or 2020 I'm fine with that, but there are people that are waiting for that price to come a lot sooner because it seems they cannot afford to hold for that long.

It's very unpredictable that even experts cannot foresee the events on bitcoin because it literally depends on the people's demand to the market, last years highest value approx. I think we  are going to  see it  again before the year 2018 will end like what happened last year.

Sometimes the demand is not everything in here, i think that bitcoin will come back to it's all time high, but it will take some time until we can see those prices again.

Probably we are gonna start seeing bitcoin over $15k by the end of the year, and at $20k at the Q1 of 2019.

This topic is created in January where the hopes for 2018 were too low. I strongly believe that we will see new all time highes above 20k in 2018. There are lots of good news fundamentally, and I do believe that we have found the dip technically during the last one quarter. Second half this year will be extreme

Bitcoin is going to hit 20,000 usd again and it will be easy for it to achieve because it has traded on that level before and going back to that same price level is possible. If all things being equal, the astronomical speed of bitcoins price in last quarter of last year will repeat itself and bitcoin can be seen going above 20k

If the price doesn’t reach to $20k till the end of this year, then it will cross this limit in the next year but it is confirmed that it will one day cross $20k. You are right that it is the right time for investment in bitcoin because the price is rising and investors will make a lot of money from bitcoin. I think bitcoin although the price up and down we never see 20k again as of now because some countries imposed a banned and not legalize that would affect some of the investors but I feel before the end of this year btc will rise up the price more than 20k.
You have a point regarding with regards to those countries thag issued banning of the crypto, but in the other hand there are also other opportunities that opens such as using and acceptancr of bitcoin payments to major brands even in restaurants and etc.. this are just the beggining people and companies will start to realize the importance of cryptocurrency to our daily lives especially with the technology in our time so i still believe we could reach 20k again and maybe more.

We will see more than 20k and most experts predict that Bitcoin will reach $60k within this year end. The main thing each one need to do it WAIT. I really seek the day when Bitcoin reaches $60k or more and I pray it has to come in that price before Christmas since I have more expenses planned for this year Christmas. Last year I spent just $5k of my BTC for Christmas expenses where I bought it for just 1k a couple of months before last year Christmas.

Yeah $20k is not too far. I can’t say anything exactly the time but I think till the end of this year it will reach to $20k. people are now putting their money again in bitcoin because the price is rising again and as the investment cap grow more the price will automatically increase. Yes, I believe that Bitcoin will not only recover the price in this year but also we will see a fresh all-time high level before next year so I am not concerned about $20K levels but I am excited to see the ground level growth of Bitcoin in the market. The recent price rally has brought many new users onboard but we are still struggling to bring merchants in our users' community. The price will automatically bounce back as soon as it will gain the utility value which will be derived from the demand generated in the market.

yes, I strongly believe that bitcoin prices will rise up to 20k + even though there are many people predict impossible, but I am very sure will go back up

For sure we would but it would take some time before it recovers and get that price again,
If the price keeps on recovering and rise up again we could see it again before this year ends,
Maybe next year we could get way more higher than $20,000 .

Of course we will see high prices again. This $20k price was not a one time achievement for bitcoin. It will be reached out once again. Exchange platforms need more investors and this will happen very soon.

We will see the 20k dollar value very soon and this is very easy for the Bitcoin as its target this year is to achieve something else higher than that of the 20k dollar value because all Bitcoin needs is to attract the people towards investment and in this Bitcoin is on the success path as more number of people are investing in the market. The current market will soon shift to a green market.

Bitcoin at least has risen in price from $ 7.100 to $ 7.626 in the last two days. Digital currency has shown its ability this month, although it has faced some drastic setbacks, over regulatory incidents some time ago. However, bitcoin prices will not touch $ 20,000 this month but maybe in November or December to come.

I think we can, but we need to have patience to see this moment because it will not happen in the near future

People say we need patience without any basis for that. We need to see how BTC works, circulates, people use it often and feel like life was harder wothout them. In this case we can hope to see the value grow, the time itself won't make the coin more expensive

I think yep we can see at the end of year, because if we predict price with technique analysis, we can see more price than at the price of the previous year.

Be patient in your beliefs, and you will see bitcoin at the price of 20k. Currently the market is unstable and but in the future it will definitely improve, bitcoin will surely increase to 20k and even exceed it.

Of course the price will return to $20,000, and perhaps much further. However, we must be aware that there are many economic interests now involved in the bitcoin market since big capital has come to speculate with its price. But also keep in mind that a market as aggressively bullish as was observed in 2017 was something truly exceptional, compared to what was observed in previous years, so a possible recovery in the price of bitcoin could take several weeks, months or even years.

Of course it will, it is given that the value of bitcoin will rise abd rise as time pass by in the long run. The casual drops of it currently are just in the volatility of it which is in its nature not to mention because of its gaining populariry attracting more investors. For it to reach $20k again at this year, I don't know but it is very possible but still we have to consider its unpredictability.

20k dollar is nothing for the Bitcoin because we know that this coin has a lot of potential and can lead us to the highest possible market. Bitcoin market will soon uplift in the upcoming days and this is saying by the demand supply rate which is increasing these days that is why a constant increase is observing in the market price. If this constant price continues then the market will soon shift to the high market.

Give it time. The next halving might not be enough to push it sustainably beyond $20k but imagine when the next 2 halving seasons come. BTC's gonna be so scarce it's price would be really really high.

I am also preaching this thing everywhere that we simply need to be patient with bitcoin, nothing else. This is not for the first time that market is going through some hard dump. I am sure that bitcoin is going to rule our hearts again by the end of the year just the way it did last year. We are not supposed to distrust it in any way if we had enjoyed massive incomes with it last year. All is going to be okay soon.

We know that the Bitcoin is responsive towards us and we should invest in it so as to get benefit of it, similarly if more people demand for it then the value will go on increasing. We will see the rise again which is depending upon us, same is happening in the market these days as more people are investing in the market because the price is achievable and the market is low.

Of course we will, sure thing $20k isn't the highest price of btc. Although if you think $20k is a lot of money but if you're going to think that it's the highest of btc, it's kinda low. If not this year maybe in the next two years were gonna see it again.

Yes that is right, no doubt about it to see 20K again, i think that we will see the price again before ending 2018, and hopefully 2018 will be the more good year for bitcoin than 2017, because still most of the people are too much interested to invest money in bitcoin, and still more and more people are getting knowledge about bitcoin.

Here's to hoping this was the bottom and we're headed back for a strong recovery.  With the recent announcements from the SEC it would be nice to see some strength return to the market.
