Do you have whitepaper for that coin ? cause when i visit to their official website no whitepaper i can read there, also "about" page at that website only 5 line text. explain nothing

Whitepapers are for coins that haven't been formally implemented or created. Bitcoin's whitepaper preceded Bitcoin's creation.  Many ERC20 tokens without a working product use whitepapers to help people envision their token in the future.  NewYorkCoin is already an existing coin with an existing 4 year old blockchain so there's no need for a whitepaper.

He just curious what the purpose of that coin. even me, i want to read it too. You say this coin dont need whitepaper, are this coin only can be used for purchasing food and drink and pay for gym class that listed on the official website. @Ilbilistenan - First, this coin isn't owned or run by one person or organization; it's decentralized like Bitcoin so its use cases are governed by what people want to use it for. Second, it's only listed on one exchange today, but with more validated use cases, I think the community believes it will naturally be listed on other exchanges.

Today, I can send NewYorkCoin to friends in France, Romania, Russia or Brazil, within seconds, who could decide to keep it or send it to an exchange to convert to another coin. That's just one use case that I can do now, whereas Stella Lumens needs to build it's network to accomplish what I can already do with NewYorkCoin.

Also, because NewYorkCoin's confirmation times are so quick, I don't need to wait around forever like I do with Bitcoin transactions.

But I'm not here to convince you to buy this coin; I'm a member of the community and I'm volunteering my time to provide updates.  Do your own research and make your own investment decisions with any cryptocurrency that you may acquire.

if we talk about prospects, it seems to me personally that this coin has a chance of success. Accelerated transactions, but the similarity with bitcoin I really liked, I also note that the NYC crypto are used in several institutions in New York. From the shortcomings I note that now this cryptocurrency can only be bought on the YoBit exchange, this caused a drop of doubt.

It's been a wild first quarter but we are happy to announce that we have met all of our goals for Q1 on the roadmap!. We have released an update for the qt-wallet and headless daemon. You can find the latest wallet update (version 1.2) at the github releases page.

Please note, that with this release, the database structure has changed (from berkeley db to leveldb) which will require a re-indexing. Re-indexing takes time, especially when the chain is over four years old. (We will have a bootstrap file which should help ease that pain.)

As always, backup your wallet.dat file before upgrading and be sure to read the change log for the wallet update.

We still need all hands on deck as we move into Q2 and the future!

Q2 is going to be an exciting time for the dev team and the community at large. A LOT of work is scheduled to happen in the next three months but I am confident that we can make it happen with the community's continued support. We are sticking to the roadmap and will continue to inform the community of any changes or pivots that need to happen along the way. We will need continued help from the community for on-boarding merchants, and if anyone has development skills, please see one of the team members in our discord to see where you may be able to fit into the team. Yes and you have raised a real point. Although NYC is more about the state itself than the city. What is interesting about the NewYorkCoin is that it is very fast so it is planned for the daily expenses (30 seconds and thanks to the KGW technology : 18 seconds of record) in all the capitals of the world where the time factor is indissociable of the world life, it is virtually free to easily access the international money transfer. Always thought this was a great idea for a coin.  Good to see the dev is still logging in as that's a good way to do some due diligence.  Basically, we need to educate people on how to make money via crypto, and so being able to give away a large amount of coins to people who will take the time to listen to us is a great incentive.  It's still easy to give away 10,000 NYCoins, but maybe not so easy in a year from now   ;D

I purchased 10mil NYC in March and I have very much hope for NYC future.
Lately, someone tweeted that NYC is being changed the name to Litecoin Free.
Both the name of NewYorkCoin and Litecoin Free are not good, in my personal opinion.
It is like an expression of inferiority. Why not a name of its own ? Please don't take any thing famous to add to the name of this coin.
NYC has good technology, very fast, and transaction fee near zero.

In addition, I can see many coins with the alphabet X... seem lucky coins. In the top of cryptocurrencies, there are already XVG, XRP, XLM, XRB, XEM, XMR ... This is a better way to make a new name for NYC, if you agree. Let's say Flash Coin (XFC) ??

Just so everyone is aware, a NYC port for the Electrum wallet is on the horizon. We've got a few details to wrap up before we get it out for public testing but we have successfully made transactions on the mainnet. We're working on tweaking the way it Syncs with the network so that it's more in line with the latest Electrum and ElectrumX but at the moment it takes about an hour (usually less) to sync the entire blockchain from scratch. We should have that down to a few minutes if we can get the checkpoints working properly.

I will post a link here once it's up for public use!

I installed the coinomi android wallet, but NYC does not appear as one of the coins listed.  How can I use coinomi to store NYC?

From the shortcomings I note that now this cryptocurrency can only be bought on the YoBit exchange, this caused a drop of doubt.

Thanks so much for your reply.  I didn't know there was a coinomi update since I installed it.  Hope to visit the City some time within the next month or so and cant wait for the chance to spend some of my NYC there.

There are a ton of exchanges that have opened up in the last two or three months.  I'm sure others will list it for free if the team just starts asking around.

But there is no price action now and something should be done.  Perhaps too many coins out there and a burn would raise the price.

Electrum wallet isnt synching, could you correct this please and i will continue mining... Please :)

Now that the 1.3 version of the wallet is out https://github.com/NewYorkCoin-NYC/nycoin/releases I can once again focus my attention on the Electrum wallet and give it some much needed attention.

The first priority for Electrum is to get it synching again properly. Once that is done I will work on getting the code compatible with the 1.3 wallet and the upcoming fork (Late October). I understand that many people prefer Electrum over the desktop wallet due to sync times and I apologize that I have not been able to address it due to working on the core code base. Have no fear though, I will get it all fixed up as soon as I am able to!

It's a very good decision because in the future you can get not bad profit from it. Maybe in 2019, it will be the most perspective coin of the year.

I want to know what makes NYC superior upon other coins in your mind ?
"5x than Litecoin and 20x than Bitcoin" is nothing much in 2018 when there are so many coins even can do instant transaction and zero-fee.

NYC has the speed for retail use. Offers it free = free worldwide money transfer. Has a tiny tiny $6m total market cap. Now accepted at 40 businesses (and growing). And it has a pretty cool name.

Continuously thought this was an incredible thought for a coin. Great to see the dev is as yet signing in as that is a decent method to do some due constancy. Fundamentally, we have to teach individuals on the most proficient method to profit by means of crypto, as having the capacity to give away a lot of coins to individuals who will set aside the opportunity to hear us out is an extraordinary motivating force. It's still simple to give away 10,000 NYCoins, however perhaps not all that simple in about a year Grin

Wow, this is the first time I have heard coin very interesting. Do I have a question why the development team has not released Whitepaper? They will be a bridge for us to invest more in this project. Does the coin use blockchain technology or any other technology that co-workers use, or do you put a new technology into them?

Also keep in mind this coin was launched in 2014 by developers who abandoned the project only a few weeks after launch. The new dev team has only been active since January 2018 and we are working diligently to bring the codebase into a more modern, secure state.

Spent all this time reading and searching.  Was going to head over to Telegram to ask and then saw the picture.  Don't penalize those who do actual research before asking questions-- put the info out there with all the other specs.  It's not on CMC, but I realize that is out of your control.  Your media pages ARE in your control: update them accordingly.)

UPDATE: The existing chain of NYC will be kept alive and healthy for an indefinite time after any upcoming hard-fork to update NYC code. Please make sure you save an updated copy of your wallet.dat file. This way your NYC is always safe.

Hello NYCoin community! I hate to copy and paste announcements but this one is long and important and was just posted to discord.


In the past day or so a LOT of NYCoin has hit the exchanges at stupid low prices. This has spurred quite a bit of excitement and as a result, volume on exchanges has shot up dramatically. At the same time, an unknown actor has hit our network with a comparatively large amount of hash rate constituting more than 75-80% of our overall network rate. With that increased hash, blocks from known, verified mining pools have become orphaned leaving a lot of transactions in a conflicted or unknown state. This seems to be especially on transactions that are moving a large amount of nycoin off exchanges into personal wallets.
At this time, the dev team believes this is a coordinate attack on our network in an attempt to double spend coins or generally wreak havoc on our network as a whole. We do not know who the miner is nor what their actual intention may be but the recent events have raised quite a bit of suspicion that this is not coincidental.
It is recommended, until further notice, to refrain from depositing or withdrawing from exchanges, or sending large quantities of coin in a single transaciont until we can regain control of the situation.

If you want to assist in stabilizing the network and preventing such an attack from continuing to occur, we need to muster all hash power possible to the mining pools. If you have a mining device that can handle scrypt, point it at a NYC mining pool such as Hobbyistspool, nyc.mypool, Miningdutch,or Mastermining. If you can rent hashpower, even just a few GHs for a week or more, please point that hash power at a valid mining pool. If you can rent a small amount for a day, do it.
This type of attack is specifically what the upcoming fork is meant to help prevent.

We have noticed in the past day that the hashrate spikes have been coinciding exactly with large amounts of NYCoin dropping on exchanges for ultra cheap prices. This has raised some serious red flags and we are starting to get more reports of large quantity transactions not making it to their destinations. We are working with Tradesatoshi on current tickets regarding such transactions.


Once we have more information we will let everyone know, until then, be safe out there. You can monitor hashrate fluctuations from our stats page here https://stats.nycoin.info/d/000000001/nycoin-mainnet?refresh=30s&orgId=1. I would advise against depositing or withdrawing from any exchange when there is a sudden, unusual surge in hashrate.

If you have a large amount of coins at Trade Satoshi (where the recent volume madness has occurred), they are fork ready. Crex24 recently updated as well but the volume hasn't hit there yet.

Hello, Empowered and who so ever care to open their eyes and see what was happening to NYC/WNYC, would have noticed, we were dying a slow slow death. My name is Marlon Pascall, I am from Queens NY, as if that means anything. I have been with NYC for a very long time, but I never got involved with the running of the project (Community), until now. I saw no reason for this project to just fade away and die. This is a very good coin that could and will reach far, if manage correctly. No one and I repeat, no one was doing anything about it. The community were not talking to each other. I started people talking and dreaming again. I introduced a technique, which is working, without having new investors. You all are seeing a rebirth.
