Title: stellar mobile wallet
Post by: boranes on January 24, 2018, 08:44:50 PM
Can someone recommend me good safe and easy mobile wallet for stellar?
Do they have official wallet or something because at their site there is list of wallets but also this message:
Disclaimer: Stellar.org does not own, maintain or operate any of these wallets.

As far as I know there is no official wallet so just choose on their site if what suits your need best. Also, IMO no need to worry about the note because they are just reminding the users that they have no control over those wallets (we are still responsible on how to protect our wallet balances). I made my wallet through Stellarterm and until this moment I didn't encounter any problem yet, though take note that it's a trading client.

What's important is you have your secret key and could always import that to another wallet anytime.

Ok, I did some let's call it research and installed web client - stronghold,  but it is more like trading site and as you said "control" i don't have private keys. Deposit few bucks, bought some stellar and installed stellar desktop client - looks ok. Transfered coins from stronghold to it, bought more of it and sent it again all worked just fine.
I don't know what security stronghold have against double spend but as I see my bitcoin transactions are still not confirmed and I have bought stellar half hour ago and already made withdrawal. Strange.

Will check stellarterm but it is web wallet, i made little typo in topic what I meant is mobile wallet not web wallet will edit topic now.  ::)

I've been waiting stellar mobile wallet, but until now it's not available. If we look at stellar.org sites, they recommend mobile wallets from third parties. But I do not want to be careless and do not want to wear it. For now i just use the web wallet and for other option maybe i will use hardware wallet like nano ledger. https://www.stellar.org/lumens/wallets/

Even they will recommend some third party wallets, I wouldn't take a risk of downloading and putting some of my XLM's there. There's no guarantee that if something happened to that "recommend" mobile wallet from the official stellar website, they can recover our funds. It's not time-consuming if you'll use a web wallet or a nano for storing it.

Web wallet is not an option because I don't trust web wallets.
I am looking for something similar to mycelium for bitcoin, if you know what I mean, I did some further research and for all stellar mobile wallets there is warning - don't store more you can afford to lose  :-\
Thanks for answers, I hope they will release their own mobile wallet, until then i won't use third party wallets.

Those warnings are helpful so if it shows up then don't push it just to try it out or else you'll be in the worst part of your funds there will be stolen by that untrusted mobile wallet creator. And if you don't trust web wallets, its also up to you, we do have our own preference of storing our coins. Others are good with web wallets but most of us wanted to be safer and hardware wallet will be the best.
