Hi guys seems like BCT have a new update.i don't know what merit on my profile.what does it mean?

This value encourages others to return meaningful posts to the reward!
Merit members can have meaningful and useful replies to add points, and Merit is necessary to upgrade!
Later upgrades need to look at Merit and active values!

I also have the same question as you, today in the forum to see more update should be inquired.

I see.merit is like a reward that encourage to people post high quality not garbage.

Merit is need to rank up now and not only by activity.

Merit is the point given by others if your post is considered useful and quality.
This Merit is a key requirement to improve your account ranking.

yes, you are right. and you should get 10 merit, if you want to rank up to be member.

Nobody is going to give you any merit for those stupid one liners.
And you will never rank up without 10 merit points.

Maybe some people ignoring the new system :D  but i though i'm the only one who recognized  what is merit haha.i will not going post again like this and i will read the news after posting like this hehe.

That's how why merit is very useful for every BCT Users to rank up fast.

This Merit is a good idea, So that no spammers will rank up until they do some constructive post. But I think Merit will affect those members with low ranks like newbie and Jr.Members. Since they are low level ranks, they are often ignored by higher ranks. So it means, although they already reached the required post count to rank up. They will not rank because the merit point count is not enough/reached the points needed in order to rank up because even if they do costructive post. They are often ignored. What do you think guys?

Ps. But I really do Love the Merit System of the forum.

I Think this merit system will bring a good result for justifying the writing quality. It will also be useful for selecting for the purpose of the signature campaign. So that Merit system will bring a positive result in this system. I think this is a fantastic initiative for this Bitcointalk platform.

 But one more thing that I hate is those scammers around this forum  >:( With those bunch of scammers, this forum will remains unsafe for me :( That is just based in my experience. I've been scammed so many times  :D And still trying to catch up to earn bitcoins.

Also there is a possibility that some members here in the forum do sell their merit points for bitcoins or something. If those kind of activities do exist. My best solution for those activities is to automatically ban members that will be caught selling merit points.

Merit is a form of reward for meaningful posts. Everyone in the comment section have already explained it. My insight about this new update is positive. This will reduce nonsense posts and will encourage people to post stuffs that have sense. This is a fair move for participants of signature campaigns who really exert effort on their writings. Competitions will get even. This is a great improvement in the bitcoin community and I am hoping that I will see less nonsense posts from now on.

Yes, I want to know what's the functions.
But, I think it's like the like function in other forum discussion. So, it's better.

Its like a commendation but a bitcoin version. In order to get merit you need to reply a valuable post or your reply must be appropriate and commendable here in bitcoin. To make it easy to under stand you just need to reply a meaningful and helpful post.

It is a great update in this way we can guarantee that every post made is useful for the community. Every member will post quality post only.  The one who post very well will be rewarded by merits. Not every post can be monitored by the campaign so their job will be distributed to everyone, we will be held responsible for the members who do not have quality post.

There are just some loop hole in it, members that know each other might exchange merits.

yes, merit is a good strategy, and it demands us to improve the activity and quality of our posts, meaning that we are active in forums to provide solutions, build up for good growth in forum and benefit other members, not spam.
then, the more qualified post, the more merit we get. but, because this is a new rule, so I do not yet know how the technical division of merit is specific? please somone, explain me about technical.

Maybe a lot of people are already planning how to buy and sell Merit!
Most of the responses are difficult to get Merit, which is a very real problem!

This new system might not be entirely fair at all, others will agree to give merits to each other am sure of that, the old system was very good in my opinion and sometimes change isn’t that good.

Well new merit system isn't good for me.they might sell their merit to newbies without doing anything and in there's so many scammer now.
