Title: Cards not showing or hashing
Post by: chris.t on January 25, 2018, 04:15:11 AM
Hi:

Cards not showing or hashing.

One card is showing and hashing
One Card is showing and not hashing
One card os not showing at all.

See info below from log......does it look like cards not getting enough power.

Im running bitmain psu on 110v......

Any ideas?

Thanks!

chris

get PIC voltage=91 on chain[5], value=890
get PIC voltage=6 on chain[6], value=940
get PIC voltage=91 on chain[7], value=890

Bitmain psu on 110 is only rated for 1200W max. I'll bet you're running a miner that needs more than that, right?

yes that is correct. 1375 i believe. would that make these cards not show/hash?

Absolutely. You're underpowering the miner and overloading the psu. I'd pick up another small psu and power one of the boards with that. Power the remaining boards and controller with the other. I'm running multiple thermaltake 750W psu since each cost only 60 bucks at frys!
Mine on! 8)

the order of the boards doesnt matter?  as long as i power 2 boards and cotroller with 1 psu and the other board with another psu?

Correct.

If you are intending to power your Antminer S9 with 2 110v PSU's make sure you you don't mix power supply sockets to the hash boards or you can destroy one of your boards. Make sure that the same PSU is powering one full board and not mix match between the 2.

In retrospect, its actually cheaper to get a 220v plug installed and buy the bitmain power supply, and it will save you electricity cost,

Cheers

I have the same problem 2 of the 2 works fine but the third has no hashing power no temp nothing but the asic oooooo appear to be there and work like for 1 min and then goes xxxxxxxxxxxx that board I have Evga 1300 w it could be the power supply that I need more power ?

Depends on which miner you have. If it's the s9 then, yes, you need a bigger psu. Even though EVGA makes a great psu, the 1300W model isn't going to cut it. You need the 1600W.

From Bitmain's website
S9
Power Consumption
1127W (11.5TH/s batch), 1225W (12.5TH/s batch), 1274W (13TH/s batch), 1323W (13.5TH/s batch), 1372W (14TH/s batch) (at the wall, with Bitmain’s APW3 PSU,93% efficiency, 25°C ambient temp). Expected discrepancy of +10%

For S9's the best solution is to get 220V.

Agreed. If you can't do 220V, use 2 power supplies on 110v.

Here are the kernell logs...

This one was when i was using bitmains PSU   www.websitebychris.com/hostedimages/kernell_log_1_26_2018.txt (http://www.websitebychris.com/hostedimages/kernell_log_1_26_2018.txt)

the middle card does not have a red light lit......is it possible to switch the cards physical order in the machine without hurting anything?

thanks for any help

Yes, but you can just swap the connectors without moving the boards.

Does any one know if the position of the 3 cards matter?

6 is showing and hashing... red lite is lit on board...
7 is not showing....red lite is not lit on board..
8  is showing and not hashing... red lite is lit on board... all o's showing...

is it because 7 is now showing or lit making 8 not hash?

any help appreciated..

thanks

The absence of the light just says the board is not being recognized as working, to test the power supplies you could just connect one board at a time.

Try this first, but from the log it looks like some of your chains are dead and the board isn't booting
