Title: BTC Futures- Awful for BTC?
Post by: BennyOnions on January 26, 2018, 12:18:29 PM
It seems like the market tanks everytime futures are set to expire.  I know it’s great having more money in the market but are futures a gift and a curse?  What do you think?

It seems like the market tanks everytime futures are set to expire.
every time?!!
last time it was a big drop or crash if you like (>30%) which was started because of Korean FUD saying they banned bitcoin which was also followed by same FUD saying China banned bitcoin mining.
then after the drop was nearly finished everyone started talking about how futures was also expired that day!

this time it is not even a crash! i mean it is a 12% drop and if you look around you can see the same shit is happening. news headlines are saying China banned bitcoin. LOL

maybe, but how much money do you think was invested in futures that can affect the market like this? i doubt it is enough to cause such drops.

We can never know what lies ahead of us and whats gonna happen in the future of bitcoin, Right now the price is really going down and right now we are at $10,578.17 USD, many have predicted that the value will dip further the $9000 mark let's just see and they also predicted that it will eventually pump up to the $20,000 mark value, But I really believe in hodling my bitcoin just like what we see in the picture.

I don't think there's nearly enough money in these futures contracts to affect the price of Bitcoin by itself. What seems more likely is that they are an instrument to create more FUD which affects the market far more than the money itself. I wouldn't say that the market tanks every time these contracts expire - today's drop is the result of Coincheck hack rumors & them halting withdrawals and has nothing to do with CME futures settlement.
