Title: Infographic - Merit & new rank requirements [UPDATED]
Post by: 8Habits on January 27, 2018, 04:16:40 AM
Below is my simple infographic (for those people who prefers visual explanation) about the merit and new rank requirements.
My point is simple, as long as we are patient enough and see to it that we just share quality posts, we can reach higher ranks eventually.
Higher rank members in the forum will not leave any of us unnoticed and without merits, if they feel our share is deserving of merit point(s) BUT will definitely won't bother at all to give us any merits if our replies are trash.
I just do hope that the merit system will not be abused and each of us should be watchdogs in upholding the real intention of the merit system in attaining clean and only quality information published in the forum.

I think you should add some more info about how you obtain merits, so that the infographic can basically just be a quick answer to someone asking about merits. Someone who's never heard of the merit system would be confused by the infographic, and it wouldn't really help anyone who has read theymos' thread.

Hi DarkStar, thank you for the input. I will definitely update the infographic later tonight and add a block about how to obtain merits with probably some screenshots. I will be brainstorming it with my wife later tonight.

Also it would nice if you add some FAQ and a differentiation between Merits and sMerits, many people still seem confused about that

To the OP, great work! With your permission, I will put a link to this thread in my Rank, Activity and Merit points calculator (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2534500.0) post. :)

For every merit point you are awarded you receive half of a smerit point. If you receive 10 merits it means you will automatically have 5 smerits as well. Smerits are the points which you are able to award to other users (give merit). This is actually the best part of merit system in my opinion because it gives you an incentive to pass merit to deserving posters since smerits don't have any value for holder.

Thank you for the information, it was really helpful, now I know that sMerit actually means - sendable merit :)
