Well, to be fair, the email now says it begins production in December, not delivery.

They've also updated the website to reflect the new dates:

Quote
  • November / December    Initial Shipping   (Sold out)
  • January / February    Bulk Shipping

So they don't seem to be "pushing" December delivery any longer.

Now, who knows if they will make their dates, of course...

Prototype pics of it hashing are now a pre-requisite for any orders. That's my personal policy from now on.

BKKcoins and Burnin showed prototypes hashing while they were working on their open source projects.

I don't really see any reason why "reputable" companies should not be held to the same standard. And "reputable" is severely pushing it...

No pics = no $$

Agreed, the pre-order madness has gotten out of hand.

Phineas Taylor Barnum (July 5, 1810 – April 7, 1891) was an American showman, businessman, scam artist and entertainer, remembered for promoting celebrated hoaxes and for founding the circus that became the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.

Barnum is widely but erroneously credited with coining the phrase "There's a sucker born every minute."  ;D

"Normal"?  That'd be a pretty stupid person if you ask me - the minute they click the link in the email to actually order the thing, they will see the updated shipping dates - right on top of the pre-order button to add it to their cart.  It's not like they are hiding the date estimates at the bottom of the page in fine print with an asterisk or something next to the order button.

I've never been a defender of BFL, and they definitely have f'd up in many ways, but you seem to be grasping at straws here.

That said, I have no idea why anyone would pre-order anything from them again.

There is no evidence they even have a design so the product does not even exist. How they can assume a production date from a rendering and specifications they would like to meet is beyond credulity?

Still killing me that you got dumb-shit fucks on this forum still putting up "will I make any money if I pre-order the BFL 5GH single today?"  and you have others telling them "you'll get it in 2 month promise!"

personally - fuck gmaxwell and inaba they work together to hardcore deceive the thread forum with the BFL banner ads.  The average person will say - well they are able to advertise here so of course they must be reputable.  WRONG!!!!!

Yes Global Mods, I have a bone to pick with you - WHY DO YOU PERPETUATE THE FRAUD!!!!!

That's true YipYip, they could Photoshop it.

But, the friggin morons at BFL would actually have to do real work to produce a believable Photoshopped pic, and I have serious doubts they could even accomplish that small feat, let alone another shipping (arguably) product.

It is a pretty low hurdle to set, but for them, it would be an actual hurdle.

Guaranteed sleeping bucks for a non-existent collateral that converts hard earned bitcoins back to the fiat currency and causing more and more stress in the bitcoin economy. Congratulations BFL.

IMO consolidate BFL threads to mine.

It has the most views and I'm fantastic at attention-whoring (they call it 'marketing' in schools) so just keep adding to that and I'll promise to try and get it in Ars Technica / NPR / TheVerge / Forbes all publications I've been quoted in this year
