Title: How ranking works ?
Post by: cryptomadu on January 29, 2018, 03:02:28 AM
I read a thread about how ranking works. But I found difficulties when understanding this.

"you could make one post in three different periods and you would then have 3 posts and 3 activity, but a potential activity of 42. Once you made the 42 posts you would then have 42 activity but no more. If you made one post in 35 different periods you would then have 35 posts and 35 activity but a potential activity of 480. That means you would be a Junior Member but if you made the full 480 posts you would instantly become a Hero Member."

Can some one explain me the meaning of the phrase in bold text in more simple manner please.

This one might help you to figure it out:

Furthermore, with the old ranking system, which only depends upon number of activities. In terms of activities, you can reach maximum 14 activites for each two-week period, nothing more even you post hundreds of posts during those two-week period.

New ranking system has added merit scores as one of pre-requisite for ranking up. Please read the topic via the link I give you for more details. Merit system is a hot topic recently in the forum.

There's really very simple system. You can post as many posts as you like. But. The speed of gaining activity points is limited. You can gain only 14 activity evety 2 weeks. Even if you make 30 posts - it's 14 activities. So just keep posting and your activity will be growing.

Thanks. But what does it mean by " If you made one post in 35 different periods". That's what I don't understand. What does it mean by " One post in different period ?. How do we make one post in different periods ?. That what I want to know.

That was probably example of low count poster.
period = 2 weeks
If you made only 1 post during each period (1st post during w1-2, 2nd post during w3-4, 3rdpost during w5-6 ....)  then after 70 weeks (35*2)  your activity will rise to 35.

Thanks. but read the whole sentence.

" If you made one post in 35 different periods you would then have 35 posts and 35 activity but a potential activity of 480. That means you would be a Junior Member but if you made the full 480 posts you would instantly become a Hero Member."

politely asking for more explanation about this.

I don't understand as well. Where did you get it? Some sort of "how to quick rank up" calculator?

I see potential activity as the most possible activity you could eventually earn:  14(max activity you can earn per period) * 35 (periods) = 490 .. maybe thats it?

BUT as said above ... rank is no more only about post count (thank god) ... so this discussion is useless because you need merit as well (and getting merit is much more harder).

Yep, than it's as I said above ( but small miscalc  35*14 is 490 not 480 ).
I'm no longer willing to discus this topic ... as in my POV anybody who is focusing to activity and how to rank up does not belong here.

Just be heplful, make reasonable posts and be patient ( let the rank up to be your surprise )

After the launch of merit system, ranking procedure in the forum will based on two factors:

(1) Number of activities.
(2) Number of Merits.

Both of those will help users to be ranked up to their next levels

There is link to official ANN from Theymos.

It's all depends on individuals for you to gain your ranking you need to post as many as you can the more you post from different area the more activity you have so keep on posting.
