Title: What is the address 0x0000000000000000000000000000000000000000
Post by: ridertiger on January 30, 2018, 08:42:45 AM
So, I am getting tokens from the address 0x0000000000000000000000000000000000000000
and the token name is N/Asssssssssssssssss
Does anyone know how to find out what tokens these are?
How come they are not recognized by ethplorer?
Here is an example:
https://ethplorer.io/address/0x949f335fe05b4df0c01d128763baf0cf5e9e785d
Here are some transcations:

Wondering the same thing... I recieved 1,009.6216900000001 on 29 January 2018 and I have no idea what they are. This post was the only google result when I search the contract address.

Hopefully someone can shed some light?

What did you get these tokens for? Did you participate in some bounty company or airdrop?

Probably airdrop. If it was a scam, they would not send the tokens. I guess no answer then. I think the organizers were not skillful enough to get ethplorer to name their token or something.

The 0x000 wallet always confuse me, i mean if we accidentaly sent token there the token sometimes move to different address by it self like someone have access to it.

This sounds really strange, and the fact that no one knows anything about it just goes to show how much in the dark we still are, and how much we need these forums for clarity and support. Since you have received the tokens, is it still possible for it to be a scam! Hope you get a concrete answer to this one.

Here is some information I found on another post:
If you know the contract address of the token, simply copy it and paste it into the Etherscan search box. Now go to contract source and you will see the name of the token there. Or you can go the token tracker and paste the address there. Btw, here's the information about the HELP tokens you receive: https://etherscan.io/token/0xe8c5e942b76099c0c6d78271bad3ca002fa7c531

This address 0x01a2fc3b9ec48c9ffa171b1c92bf110f9da5c5b6 is also linked to HELP token address. You can check the details of the address here: https://etherscan.io/address/0x01a2fc3b9ec48c9ffa171b1c92bf110f9da5c5b6 and the transfer here: https://etherscan.io/token/0xe8c5e942b76099c0c6d78271bad3ca002fa7c531?a=0x01a2fc3b9ec48c9ffa171b1c92bf110f9da5c5b6

The one I cannot see is here, but there is no name using the method outlined above:

Well, when I look at the smart contract:
https://etherscan.io/token/0x949f335fE05b4df0C01D128763BAF0CF5e9e785D#readContract
It says LIF token!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It should not be on until February.

does not sound good, for sure is something close to a scam...

If you get robbed on the street - you can call it a scam, but what if someone puts a hundred dollars in your purse. Is it a scam then?
Usually, if you are not sure what it is, it could be some airdrop for which you applied, or even more likely - a snapshot airdrop.

However, in this case, this is the "burn" address", the address where the tokens go if you don't write anything in the "send" field when filling a transfer from. How can you receive something from this address eludes me.

EDIT: Look at this thread here, this could be an answer - the one made by adrianclv https://www.reddit.com/r/ethereum/comments/7kcarv/someone_is_sending_out_erc20_tokens_randomly/ (https://www.reddit.com/r/ethereum/comments/7kcarv/someone_is_sending_out_erc20_tokens_randomly/) on how it was possible. But I still don't have an idea which token it is in your case.

Yeah, expect that these are tokens that are doing nothing but taking up space in my ether wallet and ethplorer page.
I wish they would name their tokens appropriately. I have a feeling that they named them, but it is the same name with some other token, therefore ethplorer is not naming them?
In this case, they are named LIF but since there is already a token named LIF, ethplorer is ignoring them is my best guess.

I have never herd of something like that and at the moment, I am sitting and wondering  ??? ??? ???
What do you think for this conspiracy theory regarding the hached exchange. What if those guys that hacked the exchange to send random tokens like Robin Hood to a lot of people? And by that way to make a huge amount of traffic to cover them?
Just a conspiracy theory but do you think, that something like that is possible, because the address is ..."address zero" if I could call it that way.

Well, if they sent me NEM tokens, the name of the tokens would be on ethplorer. So, sorry but that's highly unlikely.

I received many tokens from address like that. I think it's just a smart contract address for distribution of bounties or airdrop.

Yeah but the address is not the problem. The problem is that the ethplorer does not recognize the token, and thus, I do not know which token I am getting.
I usually follow twitter addresses for airdrops, so that's one too many to follow.

Lucky you, you have tokens. If your not sure what to then just keep it, it might have a value sooner, let's just say they give some free tokens to random wallets,  then your one lucky receiver.
Since coins can not be used to still money from digital wallet then your all safe.
Keep us update too.

Free random tokens sound too good to be true so who knows. Maybe he participated in airdrops he forgot.

Either way, interested to know.

Yeah, I participated in many airdrops. I wish I could see the token name so that I could take appropriate action. In some of the cases, looking at the smart contract gives me a name, so at least I have that now.

I had same feelings about that address.

I just succesfully trade some ICO tokens (NCT) of Polyswarm. I notice that address show up in Etherscan.io when I checking authenticity of ICO project.

After trade was done, I manualy add token contract address to my wallet and tokens show up. No problem in my case.

I will stay in touch with news if token is valuable or worthless.

This sounds close to the truth, it probably is an Airdrop. But did a bad job about it and organising the later stages.

Most of such tokens carry no value, may be some poor developers created them for test and then airdropped to random eth addresses, i have also received few unnamed tokens but they have no value at all.

I think those tokens are useless and have no value, I don't see a token name under N/Asssssssssssssssss. Maybe better to just leave them alone and just make your own token or earn some token that is usable than to those coins that have no value and no assurance if there is actually has value.

i often see the 0x000 send the token to ICO participants after the sale completed (during distribution)

There can be a number of reasons for that:
1. They do not know what they are doing.
2. They are sending out test tokens
3. They are sending crap.
Let me know if you can think of other reasons.

Not it's that address mostly used to burn the unsold token or create a new token. It's the default address of the ethereum smartcontract. you can see that so many coins that have already sent to that address and it will not be reversed. There is no something wrong with that address.

I don't know if this issue is already solved but i read something on reddit about APPC tokens transferred to myetherwallet and it showed N/A as token name. If incase you participated in a campaign or an airdrop of APPC this could explain it, If not then I really don't have any idea. But what makes it strange is the wallet address.

Check this if this is still bothering you. https://www.reddit.com/r/MyEtherWallet/comments/7p5ecs/myetherwallet_issue_na_error/?utm_source=reddit-android

I know about the genesis address. However, I am getting tokens from the address 0x0000000000000000000000000000000000000000
What is that mean? People send their tokens to that address to burn.

I seen an explanation for it somewhere, although I'm not that great though at explaining so I will keep it short. Essentially it has to do with how the coins were created or the initial contract for distribution. Nothing fishy or suspicious.

Regards

I understand that is the address of Ethereum, a type of intelligent contract. It will automatically transfer tokens or ETH for multiple wallets

It seems like weird transactions have been flowing in to some Ether accounts lately.  I have received tokens I never signed up for.  I doubt its a scam I just leave them be in my wallet.  Maybe one day they will make us all rich!

if I had a miracle private key from this purse, then I would buy a couple of states and enjoy life  ;D ;D ;D
p.s. but is it really possible to hack (get access) to this wallet?

Probably, it's look like scam and that scam came from Airdrop. It also get these type of tokens and i confirmly said that i will came from joining any scam airdrop. I suggest you to join only trust airdrops which is avaliable on airdropalert.com only or on "Free Airdrops" app.

So, I am getting tokens from the address 0x0000000000000000000000000000000000000000
and the token name is N/Asssssssssssssssss
Does anyone know how to find out what tokens these are?
How come they are not recognized by ethplorer?
Here is an example:
https://ethplorer.io/address/0x949f335fe05b4df0c01d128763baf0cf5e9e785d
Here are some transcations:

I dont actually know, what is this, but I think that I would immediately create a new wallet and send all of my treasures there, in order to avoid a possible hack, or something like that one day after.

If I'm not mistaken, this address is used to burn any token that is not useful anymore. I mean it is used to burn any shit token or otherwise used by the devs to burn their unused tokens. I've seen that address on etherscan sometimes ago.

You have just won a lotto from a scammed airdrop. Lol.
What kind of address would be like this? If I may asked, how many tokens were you given from that address?

I also got a few tokens from this address and I was curious about what this address is, as a result, I had to read a lot of information in the search for the answer, the main conclusion is the address of the smart contract for tokens that are there and they are blocked until the contract is executed. Tokens received from this address are not reflected as active.
This is the parent address of the ethereum, or it is also called the parent block.

That address is used to burn tokens. Since the blockchain is immutable, after airdrop or ICO the amount left which was not distributed or bought is sent to that address that has an unknown private key in order to be out of the circulation and not used again.

I have the same problem. 59 days ago I received from the same address 911 HEALP tokens and I really do not know what about is this project. I heard that it is an address for burned tokens but I really do not understand why I received it.

First of all, I don't think this is a scam because the address is very special and no one will use such an obvious address for fraudulent activities. Instead, I think this address should belong to Ethereum, which should be their public address or contract. But I don't know what to use.

Guys, who knows?
Yesterday received tokens with GENESIS ADDRESS, https://etherscan.io/address/0x0000000000000000000000000000000000000000#tokentxns
Is this possible? As far as I know, there come tokens by mistake, or if they want to burn.

I think it's just a fake token and just fill your wallet.
If there is something like that again you better just ignore it.

My wallet is also full of shit tokens. LOL

It`s normal. this is possible when a payment is made from smartcontract.
At me such was. Tokens received,  I wait for their defrosting now.

I do not know what this is, did you participate in any bounty or airdrops and expecting your reward? probably they sent your reward already but if you did not participate in any of this, I think it might likely be a scam try to keep your information safe.

i have receive some of this address like 0x0000000000000000000000000000000000000000 and that means it has been frozen for a time being until the smart contract of the token distribution was fully established, there is no need to worry about with that kind of address it is some sort of smart contract thingy.

I have seen many such addresses. However, I am always wary of such addresses, it is most likely a scam address. It looks scary and it looks dark.
