Title: HELP! I don't know if I've been scammed or not -> Asic-technologies.com
Post by: goodgrief999 on August 30, 2013, 10:50:33 PM
Hi, when I spotted the 'about us' on Asic-technologies.com mentioned they were from Edinburgh, I didn't hesitate in paying them 1btc for a 3gh/s unit. It did not arrive, they replied, but there is a big [confirmed scam] thread here, I'm going a bit crazy - I was going to buy around 9gh/s of equipment tomorrow :/ help, please!
I can see my bitcoin's progress through blockchain on Monday, is there any chance of recovering it, please, assuming I have been scammed?

If scammed no way to get the coins back
Except if you discover the guy behind that

There will be no way to get the coins back if it is a scam. I haven't heard of them before & a quick search returned bad reviews.

I don't believe its being maintained any more but there is/was a good topic monitoring mining vendors scams: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=176262.0 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=176262.0)

asic-technologies.com is listed.

Warning: In the future, no one use this service. After a quick search by myself I found many threads with bad reviews and calling out they have been scammed.

Lesson learnt to everyone that fell for it: Always ask around before handing your money over. Always research on the company/business in question.

Am unfortunately one of those customers but I totally agree with the statement. Am doubling up my security and critical thinking when it comes to purchasing with bitcoin.

No offense, but you have to be quite gullible to fall for this. A static bitcoin address where you are supposed to just send your coins to before filling out the most basic of order forms? And then follow up with an email? A sob story about students having to sell their car for food but ending up being the first on market with 28nm asics? A few pictures of the outside of generic case that includes audio jacks, USB input connectors  and thats somehow supposed to represent a range of miners from 3 to almost 300GH?

Common.

We make mistakes man. I can still code, solder and build a machine amongst other things. We make mistakes...hard ones but its a lesson to be learned.

Sometimes it takes a bad investment for people to wise up. I believe no one makes the right decision all the times. And, sometimes people are glad they made those bad investments just so they know how to avoid being scammed again.
