I just recently found out about bitcoins and using them as an alternative currency, and from the information I've gathered I think this is something I would like to be a part of. I'm not sure how to go about getting some however. I tried Bitfunnel (which would have only given me a very small amount anyway) but the transaction didn't go through. I was wondering if there was a way to get bitcoins without selling things or using paypal, perhaps by getting prepaid credit cards and buying bitcoins with those? All the information I read about getting bitcoins seemed so convoluted and didn't make much sense, I apologize in advance if this question is too trivial or is answered elsewhere on this forum.

If you have a US bank account you can buy bitcoins directly off an exchange like mtgox or tradehill.  That's the easiest and most direct way

You could have bitcoins in your wallet within minutes, quite literally.
