Title: Is something in my command line making the cards run hot? Post by: bran987 on July 13, 2011, 08:09:47 PM I am on Windows 7 with Radeon 6950's
I had 6950x4 and then you guys taught me stacking them on top of each other makes them too hot. So for now I removed the 2 that were in the middle so the remaining 2 do not have anything touching them on either side. You guys said that they should be running 50-60 degrees Celsius but these 2 cards are still running at 80 and I'm wondering if it's something on my command line? I am using this one I found somewhere that is getting me 260 Mhash (mind you I have no idea what any of it means) phoenix.exe -u http://WORKERNAME:PASSWORD@pool.bitclockers.com:8332/ -k poclbm VECTORS BFI_INT FASTLOOP=false AGGRESSION=10 DEVICE=0 I adjusted AGGRESSION down to 7 and that didn't make any difference, and if I go lower than 7 I lose significant hash speed (meanwhile I thought I was expecting to get 310 Mhash out of each card but the line above only gives 260) Is something in the command line making the cards run hot? 80 celcius is not too hot for a GPU -- 100 celcius is too hot. You might have an option to insert delays (like -s 0.01) which will help cool the temerature (but also will lower your speed). Post by: lowlevel on July 13, 2011, 08:18:12 PM Mine run in the mid 70's currently... ambient room temperature, and case air flow/etc all play a role. If I put the side of the case on, they shoot up to 80+ ... even though theres all kinds of fans in there and great airflow... so i just leave the side off now.
