Title: Those who have invested in bitcoin when it was 18k-20k$
Post by: Loveydovey04 on February 02, 2018, 11:03:40 AM
I have a friend who bought bitcoin during this peak season. When the bitcoin price was 18-20k USD. Now he is sad and disappointed seeing that the current price has dropped to 50% and more and he is afraid he is going to lose all. In short he lost his hope and faith in bitcoin already. Has anyone here did the same as he did? If you did invest in that amount what did you do to your bitcoin, did you sell it or still holding it?

If your friend is not stupid, then he will not sell his bitcoins now. Read various topics on the forum, everyone says (and I think so) that you do not need to sell it and the price will still reach new heights and your friend will change his mind. Rest assured.

It would be good for him to hold if he is not so desperate for money. Probably price will go down little more then it will be rally for upcoming next big rush so called. Probably your friend is more the disappointed but tel him that something similar happen when price from 200 went to 1200 and then fall gain and now look what happen last year. Everything have some path and believe me this bitcoin will again go high.

If you want to recover your capital try to invest now because price is lower, and i'm sure it will surely recover your losses before. I'm not a master in this kind of business but i have a few ideas on how to invest in a proper time and way to avoid losses. We all know that in this kind of business, we cannot determine on how price being move up and down, but for sure, please don't invest when price of bitcoin is in the top or higher because it will result into multiple losses.

HODL!
I need a decent BTC/USD price and not to spend too many of my free BTC for purchasing my next sportcar (a Koenigsegg, this time).
So please hodl, you'll make someone happy :D.

I don't have this experience but my friend did and as far as I know, she cut loss his bitcoin and sell it when the price is down at $14k and I heard that she buy bitcoin again when the price is at $10k and after that, I am not talking again with her. I think she will hold her bitcoin until the price increase again and I suggest to her to calm down for a while. I hope that she follows what I explain about this dip and I hope that she can get her money back later.

there has been crashes in the past in bitcoin he should hold the coins safe in the future we will see more price rise,
I know people who bought right up to the peak then trade the short market and double up on the way down.

Then I guess your friend do not know how to read the price chart and what to do when something like that happens. You are his friend, I think if you give him some good advice you'd keep him or her from buying at those price. But yeah, that happened and I think let's just make that a lesson for our actions next time.

He should still hold it since Bitcoin price still got potential to grow in the next coming years and he will profit by the time.bitcoin soars above 20,000$ again. He will just regret it more when btc rises again. If I were him, I would do what I recommended to him since it is the wisest move I can take. I am sure that now he learned to not buy at all time high since gaining profit when buying in an ATH is harder.

It is stupid to buy Bitcoin or any cryptocurrency available on the market on its all time high (it will hardly grow and expected to drop anytime) but he is more stupid if he will sell all of it right now, selling when you lose huge amount in trading or investing will not solve the problem, selling will just make it worst. If I did invest on the price range of 18-20k USD and the price falls to $8000, I would rather hold it for a long time until it recovers, I don't care how long. But he should've sell it and cut his loss when it already drops 10-15% because that's the safest way and use that money to re-buy on the dip.

This is a very good strategy. But bitcoin for a long time looked very attractive. It's got a lot of random people. They do not believe in bitcoin and do not know how to trade. For them bitcoin is a magic coin that always makes money. They spread panic. Now they will lose their money twice. Once bought for $ 18,000 and sold now. The second time when bitcoin will return to their positions and again they will buy coins at $ 18,000. I feel sorry for them but that is the reality.

I'm not the one who jump in to the bandwagon when the Bitcoin is in the level of 19k USD. But I have friend that I told him to hold momentarily his plan to invest in BTC because that time it was so high and broke the resistance level of BTC. He did not listen and right now he lose more than half of his accounts. Greed really hurts in cryptomarket.

Harsh but I agree. given that he invested on it alot, it would be such a waste and bad move to sell it now just to try and gain back some of his capital. I mean, if he invested in that amount, and in comparison to the amount now, that's half a loss of the amount he invested, therefore, you can't actually count that as a mitigating move to lessen his loss. I think, like the above-stated reply said, the best move at this point is to hold and wait out on this Bitcoin dump, and when it surges again and gains its strength back, then he may try to hold it some more for profit or at least trade it to other assets that could have better chances of a quick profit.

Investment is taking risk, one must know and understand that before planning to buy bitcoin and hold it for either short or long term. It is normal at some point that we incurred loses, that's part of the game, but if you are really a wise investor seeing how the value of your investment drops so bad you must not panic and sell them right away and instead keep holding until it has recovered or else you will regret your decision.

It is really risks when we invest in bitcoin and you have bought it at a peak price. It is necessary that we should know how big is the risks in putting our money into cryptocurrency. It is volatile so in this case better to hold than selling at this losing phase.

I heard someone also bought at peak season but his not disappointed because he know that bitcoin will go higher than 20k$ but he need wait. Tell your friend that don't worry bitcoin will go up again if that happen its possible that bitcoin can double the price last year.

I have a friend who made an investment if bitcoin when it was around $16K and now he is literally disappointed with the negative figure. However, when I explained him about Bitcoin, he told me that he is willing to hold it for the long term so at this stage there should be no worries for those who have long-term vision/investments. However, $20K was the artificial milestone and I am sure most of the reckless investors have learned about price moments during this chaotic environment.

I also purchase when it was around 16K and it's really frustrating. Well the lesson is, you should just really invest an amount that you are willing to loose just in case bade things happen. But I'm sure it will recover soon.

Buy high, sell low!
If he will do that for sure there is 100% of losses to his investment. Why did he buy during peak season? That is badly move when it comes in cryptocurrency but it already happened and we cannot return his mistakes. If I were his friend I will say to him that he hold it till the price will move up and he gain profits even in slower price but he can wait till bitcoin fluctuate and the price will doubly as what he just buy before.

He already risked the money. If he sell at a loss and then the price rebounds, he'll be even more disappointed. He's already in, might as well stay.

That is just an opinion though. If he thinks he really need that money else where, then cash-out. It's really a choice between reducing loss or having the possibility to still make a profit later.

The only thing he can do right now and wise thing to do is to hold his bitcoin than selling it just because of value is dump. The only thing that is decreasing is the value not the amount so when the time of bounce back he will have his investment back. Patience and faith will be the key.

Bitcoin is not for the faint-hearted people as the ride is really akin to the rollercoaster. Of course, it is normal to get sad since we are actually talking here of the money being invested but one has really no choice but to hold to what he got and then hope that soon Bitcoin can be able to make a big comeback. The idea of hodling on will surely not be easy at this time but taking a good loss may not be the best choice either.

I also made some investment during those time that bitcoin value reaches $18000, but I don't feel any regret now after having this dump in bitcoin price for I believe that as long as you are holding your coins and not making such panic selling mode you still have the opportunity to earn more than your investment. We just have to give faith to our investments.

Already your friend has done a wrong thing by buying bitcoins at the high peak and at least he should not do another wrong thing by selling them now at such a low price.

Actually the previous price rise was very unimaginable and its a little bit doubt that whether we could reach that ATH soon for another time. But we could still say confidently that bitcoin price would atleast rise to some extent. So,just ask your friend to hold his bitcoins to atleast minimize his losses.

Many have bought BTC at the all-time high, so no need to get depressed, he is not Alone who has done this mistake.
Tell your friend not to sell any of his Bitcoin now. Its time to buy and HODL. if he can take some more risk, then ask him to buy BTC now at this price so that he can able to average the price to $14-15k. Then it would be easy for him to make the profit out of it in short span of time.

I will advice that your friend holds his Bitcoin. It is very disappointing to when you know that you could have gotten a better deal with just some little patience. He should encourage himself with the fact that it will rise. Sooner or latter. He should not begin to fell any regrets just yet.

Fear is the worst enemy in the crypto world. If he bought the BTC on so high price at that point it is meaningless to sell now because when the growth will start he will regret his actions. BTC will rise again when this situation that is suppressing the cryptocurrencies will be resolved. Patience and holding are the key factors right now. He must not be so eager to sell right now. In this kind of the situations most of the traders are panicking and after the conclusion of the certain situation, they are panicking even more because they had made bad moves.

If your friend worry to lose money or needed some of them now, I can suggest him 2 ways, how he can resolve this problem. First he can split his btc on some parts, you said that he bought btc at 19,000$ - 20,000$, right now btc worth ~8,500$, so like 17 parts (500$ as step)  and he should sell part by part on every step while bitcoin will dropping with this he will get middle result on the end. Second, like most already said here, he should stop panic and just hold them till btc will not back to 20,000$+.

That was a bad experienced he had, buy at $18k and it goes down now at $8.5k. I will suggest him to buy now while at lowest price to recover the loose. If the price will stabilize at $12k he has gain from his second investment while waiting to hit the price a new all time high.
These will be too risky but quite effective for me. Just need patient and hold as long investment.

I suggested them who bought at that price to not look at their portfolio in USD, i personally keep buying as much as i can, no matter the price. Even though i'm HODLing but you know it's painful seeing the price crash down, although the price will be recover. The point is just to buy low and sell high and what if the price keeps going down? just Hodl them until zero

that is good for you and I really like the idea for keep buying no matter how much the price because we still have a chance to see the price increase again and even it will make a new high price. you are right, it's painful to the price down and we cannot do anything but as long as we can control the emotion then everything will be fine. but I don't think that the price will go to zero because with many of people which involve in bitcoin, I am sure that they don't want to see this too.

I have friends too that invested while its at peak but before investing I've oriented them that when they invested to bitcoin, I won't earn from their money and the market is unpredictable and very volatile. I explained that its possible to go higher but there's also the possibility that it can go opposite so right now I'm encouraging them to keep on holding and if someone wants to cut loss they can do it but don't ever regret when the price starts to increase again.

Rookie mistake but I can't blame your friend for his interest especially during that remarkable peak. However, I hope that before he engaged himself with Bitcoin, he should have known that unfortunate things such as what is happening today is bound to happen in this uncertain world of cryptocurrency. Just a piece of advise, if he decides to pull out what he has invested now then he would just end up losing more, so just tell him to be patient. Bitcoin will get its rythm back, you just have to give it time to do so.

it was the same as me when bitcoin for the first time hit $1100, I invest it on $600, and then it's going down to $200, i was disappointed and stressed out. but well, to see bitcoin is hitting $20k, it's all worth it i guess?
so, i think it's better to hold it or exchange it into a better cryptocurrency like Ethereum, it has a great future.

Tell your friend to keep on holding the coins, bitcoin have been into price dip countless times yet still manage to recover from it. He can also opt to buy altcoins like ethereum, however it's also experiencing price drop right now. But just to cut some loses its another alternative.

If we are going to have an investment with bitcoin we need first to initiate a way for us to learn the system of bitcoin that could serve as our guide on deciding and dealing with best decision on trading. There are always a way for us to get to know the current value or price of bitcoin that could help us on deciding yet, we should always keep in mind that dealing or settling an investment with the used of bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency always have risk.

that's normal if he was fear to lost his money because in these fews days bitcoin even can't reach to $10k and currently nothing he can do besides hold his bitcoin because if he sold it to the current price then i'm pretty sure he would be lost more than 50% from his total capital of money and hold is the best options although we can't know when the price will increase again but i'm pretty sure bitcoin can recover the price back someday

It better to keep on holding and patiently wait for another price uptrend. There is a right time to make profit and avoid selling at loss. It is a part of bitcoin to experience a correction or price consolidation and will eventually recover in due time. Try to educate yourself on the history of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies and make yourself well-informed.

I'll hold on to it if it were me. There's a good chance that it will peak again at new heights this coming 4th quarter if the last couple of years were any indication. Selling right now at a loss may be disappointing but if he will need the money sometime soon then he should. He should have researched more before buying in at a bullish trend.

That's indeed unfortunate. But to think that you he already invested ,  just hold. Bitcoin's market value is now having difficulties to increase but it would be torally worth holding it than to sell it. If you will choose to sell, you will lose money. Patience is all you need. Those who invested on the peak time is gonna be very sad now but don't worry the price will recover soon, this price fall will normally occur at every beginning of the year. But hopefully it will recover at the back end and don't sell yiur coins now or you will lose your money.

I do not know anybody who bought high. The few guys I know that are in the bitcoin business, they all said it would getting too hot for them somewhen in the first week of December.
So they sold a good portion of their coins at that price. And I from all I have heared, none of them has bought back till now.
I still have most of my coins and did not sell, but I got them much earlier, before the big hype started.

For those who bought high, it's hard to sayt what is best.
Ultimately there are only two options: Sell if you think the price goes down even further, keep the coins when you think the bottom is reached.
I think the chances are 50-50.

Investment should be studied and not just by hearing some great potentials, there's a lots of people around crypto tradings who loses their hard earned money due to luck of understanding, It's better for your friend to keep holding and never to make a wrong decisions, bitcoin/cryptos have a lots of sway
and without any idea about that then its really dangerous to lose your investment, so just ask him to keep holding and forget about his money for a while
never sell when he still at loss.

They deserved it. They have a trade/investment without a proper education about it. An investment thing is needed a lot of experience and education without that I'm sure the result will same as OP friends. Personally, before I make an investment or trade, having a plan about it is essentials. In the end, some simples quotes about investments are matter, "Don't invest what you don't know".

Selling will not be a help but rather will just be a contribution to make its market value continue falling. Just continue holding because once its market price starts to rise, your investment will be redeemed and might as well earn profit. Don't be afraid and invest now that its price is low to earn bigger profit once its value fully recovered.

A lot of holders and investors invested in Bitcoin at that time and atm I think all of them are really panic cause Bitcoin price dump so much :). If you take a look at the price of Bitcoin at Q1 every year, you can see that at this time Bitcoin price often dump really hard but it'll rise back soon. You should tell your friend don't worry so much, just keep holding and hope that Bitcoin price will rise back to your friend buy price :))

Every investment, especially in currency, carries the risk of losing capital. Your friends are not the only ones who bought 20k $. Now, probably the best solution for them is to hold. If they have strong nerves. ;)

Bitcoin already reached that price before so apparrently, there's a big chance that it will pump again and reach that value. If he/she is a trader,she/he can put it into altcoins. If you're into this world, you must always have a second options, you must be wise and risk taker. Please advice him/her not to sell.

Wow a very expensive purchase aparently.
Just tell your friends : "Better, use the principle of a trader", before selling usualy a trader will hold it, and waiting for bitcoin prices to improve even though it takes a very long time. While waiting for bitcoin prices to improve they will (trade) other crypto, such as altcoin and of course altcoin they choose 'not based on price', but based on fluctuations that exist and develop in the market.

I think it is important for him to calm down and keep it, not to sell them. The crypto market is fluctuating, young investors fear and sell out their Bitcoins to avoid losses, which in turn reduces Bitcoin value. I believe many people here have the same thoughts with me. He must calm down and keep it if he does not want to lose more money. The future of Bitcoin is still long and its development potential is still huge. This is just my advice

Obviously holding. Any trader or person who has invested into BTC would at least have enough knowledge about the staggering volatility rates of btc. Holding is the best option for all the holders as the price of btc has still not reached it's peak point. I had also invested around the same range and according to me there's no point of thinking to sell it any time soon.

It is not easy to be really this much patient with your coins because of the unstable human nature of like not everyone has that much good control over nerves. The investment that people have made is again not few dollars, it is in thousand dollars.

I don’t know about other coins but as far as bitcoin concerned, I am sure that this coin is going to make you proud of yourself soon and change your lives completely.

Well that's a big loss now for him and to everyone who bought bitcoin in that price. Tell him that he have to be patient and believe that this is not the end,  just let him hold his coins now until the price rises back. Or if he still have some money now, he can also invest now to bring his capital back. Because this is the right time to buy.

Sorry for you friend and i feel him too. But we should not lose all the hope we have because in the end this feeling of hopelessness will lead us to more drastic loss of profit. I believe he should still yold for a while. Maybe there are so many red in the markets but its too early to say that this will be in a long run. Please do not panic selling. If you are scared in this situation i guess trading is not the right thing for you (its ok to panic but not to be scared with it)

The best thing to do is to hold it and let's hope that it will increase its value once again, I lost some of my investments too, it is hard for me to cash out my remaining bitcoin investments, I still believe at bitcoin, we just need some patience and trust that it will inflate again. don't panic like everyone else I think it's pretty normal for bitcoin to return to its normal value and it will increase again like what happens in 2017 or even greater.

I would probably hold it. Bitcoin is volatilr and we are all ared of it. Fluctuations as what is happening right now is jist normal and inevitable. Holding will be more necessary to avoid losing money from your investment. Also, if you will choose to sell, it will jist make the market vlue to fall even more.

Yeah if you sell now of course you've gotten lose so big because bitcoin has dropped more than 50% of the price a few weeks earlier. I myself buy when price around $16k and if I sell now I will losing 60% of my money. of course I will not do that. I still have another pocket money, I will use it for pay my dailylife and still be able to trade with the rest of my funds (that's the importance of financial management on investments) so I'll continue to hold my bitcoin that I buy at a high price before. because I believe bitcoin will rise again

That's the problem if you ride the hype and impulsively buy without doing your own reseach. If we believes in btc and its potential in the long run, then what's happening now shouldn't even bother him. What's a few month's dip compared to how btc may be valued in a few years more.

If your friend is not stupid, then he will not sell his bitcoins now. Read various topics on the forum, everyone says (and I think so) that you do not need to sell it and the price will still reach new heights and your friend will change his mind. Rest assured.
If someone has bought the bitcoin at time when the worth of bitcoin was around 20k $ needs to keep his nerves under his control. If he gets panic at this moment and makes some decision of selling his bitcoins, then he will surely going to lose a huge amount of money. The market value of bitcoin will soon rise, so it is better not to make such kind of mistake and try to keep on holding your bitcoins.

I did not buy at 20,000. But I did not sell my investment for 20,000. I think the situations are similar. I have one opinion - hold. Now it's too late to sell. What does it mean: "he is afraid he is going to lose all". Today, the price has already fallen by 60-70%. I do not see any reason to fix the loss and pick up the balance of 30-40%. The price will return to 20 000 dollars and will be higher, only time is needed.

Tell your friend that he should not sell his bitcoin because if he does so, he will be at a total loss which will make him sadder and more disappointed. Tell me to be patient and forget about the fall. Bitcoin will surely go up as usual. Perhaps it will take much longer, but it will overcome this crisis.

Many countries are banning bitcoin and the price is going to fall even more. I even smell that it is going to reach 1000$. However, I still believe in bitcoin and I am sure it will recover. Your friend needs to trust bitcoin. That is all.

I really hope it wasn't an amount he isn't willing to loose (investment rule #1, as you surely know)

I got in at about 12000, very frustrating yes. But with everything I read here and on other various investment sites, I came to the conclusion that I would not look at the price again until early 2019 (as everyone strongly believes that new Highs will be seen, it's just a matter of time). It was regarded as a long term investment anyways, so it's a lesson for me to withstand FUD. So I'm holding.

I advise to regard it the same way. Best wishes.

But how do you even feel that you bought at $18,000 then it is drop like today? If this is free money then it will be easy to spend it away but how about if people invest most of their money here? How do you think they will feel? It happened to me but not for bitcoin and it is not that much but still it is really hard for me to recover back when it is drop this much. Everyone just can hope the price go back to stable state

Holding the bitcoin is better for now, the bitcoin price is very falling and your friend will really lose if selling it now. Try to survive and be patient because bitcoin will improve.

Yes, I can understand your friend's feelings due to the fall of bitcoin. You can advise your friends not to sell the bitcoin at this time, leave the bitcoin in the wallet and do not remove it.

No issue for that people also. I think all those who are investing such a big amount then they have high patience quality and they are not fearing from any situation they always think positively. Those people will still continue their buying process and play for this time and as price again touch that range then they will be start playing with time coins also.

I think your friend should wait.Because price will not fall down always. We know last some days bitcoin price is falling down. But I am pretty sure that in some months bitcoin price will pumping up like before. So we should keep waiting and trust bitcoin.I also bought 3BTC when it's price was 15K USD.But now I lost 27k usd but I still hoping that bitcoin won't disappointed me.I think your friend should wait for more couple of months.

They just need to keep in mind some months ago BTC was pricing the exactly currently price. Few months could be considered short term, and on short term everything can happen, even if it looks too strange for us at the present time. I believe those who bought BTC for $18.000-$20.000 should forget about it for some time, just store it on a safe place and wait for the next bump. To sell it would be a big mistake...

Bitcoin isn't an investment for short term investors.

You need to help to your friend to stay away from impulsive sell. He may think "better to sell now to have at least this money than nothing", but if he do so he is going to regret his move again, cause it is just period of time after some huge money stealing, everything will come back on it's places in some time. Your friend needs just pation and you have to support him in that. Good luck guys!

When Bitcoin had such high price it wasn't the most convenient time to invest. But those who have bought then thought the price will jump to 30000$ or even 50000$ soon. Of course that wasn't very realistic to expect but now what is done, is done, no turn back. So don't make another mistake and sell now with such big loss.
Wait and hold, it might take a while, even months but be patient, it will pay off.

Sometimes you can get lost from your respective work place but you shouldn’t give up. Bitcoin is a very interesting and helpful coin and it is one of the best coins in this world but like all things it has some disadvantage too and decreasing price is the most harmful for those people who have bought that at high price.

Suddenly its price reached at 18k-20k$ and after some time it falls down at that’s 50% rate. It is a very simple matter because any time its price can be increased or decrease so if you don’t have any emergency then you should wait for its increasing of price again because it can increase its price again after some day. Otherwise, sell them at a reasonable price but you should wait till the expective amount if you don’t have any big emergency.

IMO, don't expect quick gains from cryptos, unless your are a whale (who's already rich) and experienced with speculative trading in general.
Small traders will find it hard to beat the big traders in the speculative gambling game.

Just like with those who made it big before us, the way to realise a significant gain is to enter when the price is low (i.e. the market crashes due to panic induced over-selling). Then HODL for the long term regardless of the volatility and look at it in 2 or 3 years time.

I prefer to INVEST in cryptos, and not here to trade/gamble on it base on day-to-day or week-to-week price volatility. I believe in the selected cryptos that I am now HODLing.

I previously entered with a bit of my dispensable savings of 5kAuD when the price was at 5kUSD; and I recovered that 5kAuD when the price was at 16kUSD and only play with the profits (which means that if BTC crashes, I would have lost nothing). And now, I have re-injected 8kAuD when the price was at 6.1kUSD earlier.

But i didn't lose hope that bitcoin will recover again. I dont want to lose all my money im bitcoin by selling it now. So i suggest that just keep on holding and wait for the bitcoin to risenup again.

I believe that most of them have already sold their bitcoin. And if they can sell their bitcoin above $10000, they are quite smart. For those who decide to hold bitcoin, it is not a bad idea but you will lose a chance to do something with your capital. Your balance will likely to be frozen for a few months

It's not smart at all to dump your coins at $10k when you bought them at +$18k. In this case if people have done that they could have bought back lower, but you in most cases don't get such opportunities -- it's a major gamble that may cost you badly. On top of that, people who sell at $10,000 will probably keep waiting and waiting for the price to go down, and will miss out and then still buy back at +$10k levels. If you have the balls to buy at $18k, then at least stick to your investment with the same confidence when the market tanks. If you sell at a loss once, you'll likely do it again at a later point in time. It's a sign that you can't handle this market and for that reason should refrain from investing in Bitcoin.

Encourage your friend to hodl. If he sells now, his loss will be permanent. Try to calm and just wait for it to go up again. Though we expect for slow recovery, he should be patient.

Many have been shaken and he should not be one of them. Panic selling doesn't make any good effect.

Markets go extremely down and gets harder to recover upon users abandoning bitcoins.

In my opinion, its easier to make the market go down through selling than make it go up through finding investors.

This thread underlines again the importance of investing only what you can afford to lose, or at least what you can afford to lock for months/years. The person who puts all his money in btc at 18k$ is in a bad situation now as he'll lose more than half of his investment if he sells now, but won't have needed money if he holds.
If your daily life don't depend on your bitcoin investment, then you can hold and don't have to panic sell. Bitcoin remains a strong currency and will recover one day like he already did before.

That would be very stressful seeing that investment crash down so much and it is very risky to buy during peak season since it is bound to fall after that but that doesn't mean that the lost bitcoins this month will not be able to restored though he/she will have to hold with a longer period of time.

he bought bitcoin when it is so expensive and when the market plunges, he lost 50%, from the start, it is unlikely wrong timing and lack of knowledge when he bought bitcoin. but since he is new, it is ok, now is the time to buy and hold how much bitcoin he has left in his wallet. bitcoin is investment, investment is all about timing, buy when the price is low then sell when the price is high. basic rule in investments.

I am sorry to hear that. Tell your friend to hold them longer or suggest him to learn trading. Actually if he cut loss when the price is around $13000-$15000 then he has the chance to buy bitcoin at the price of $6000-$10000, of course he will get more bitcoin but the value is the same. Ask your friend to wait. Need brave, your friend should now that the risk in digital asset investment is very high.

This is what happens when you invest based on your greed and nothing more, the price goes down and he already lost all faith in bitcoin, well if he could have waited a few months instead of entering the market in a hurry he could be able to buy bitcoin at these low prices and will most likely make a profit in the next months, so let this story be a warning for all of those investing in bitcoin just to make money.

For the ones who invested their money at that time, this present situation is no doubt very much difficult for them to sustain but the thing is that the only hope which they are left with is none other than holding of their coins while praying for the market value to increase in the coming days as until and unless the market value will not increase, they will not be able to get anything fruitful at the end.

I know few people that invested in bitcoin when the price was $18 000. They really regret after price fall on $8000. I ask the why they invest and all of them tell the same reason. They hear on the TV News how bitcoin rise for $5000 to $18800 in just two month. So they think that this will be really easy earned money if they invest in bitcoin. They lose 50% in one month , atleast most of them became "hodler" now.

My friend had invested a small amount in the level of 15.000 USD. Nowadays can not be said to be in harm because he has lost half of his money but has not yet sold the Bitcoins in hand. If we think about the commissions the stock markets we use, we need to see at least USD 18,000 to earn the income. This is why cost averaging method is the recommended strategy in buying BTC and aiming for long term before taking profit. The losses will only occur once you have decided to click that sell button on your screen. If you really believe in bitcoin, you should study the concept and technology behind it and know how to position yourself in the market.

I this is very uncertain things to happen in investment, buying at the resistance level where it reaches the peak then suddenly fell down. If this thing will happen to me the most reasonable to do is cut the loss. 50% down from portfolio is too much to lose.

I completey understand that your friend  is scared. It wasn't the good moment to sell. but don't think to the price you bought. Just look at the future, the bitcoin is recovering, it  will probably hit the 20k$ soon.

If I may ask, did he check or at least research before buying bitcoins when the its prices where around that line? I mean, by just looking at the price history charts he may be able to observe that the jump on the price was abnormal and was bound to decrease in the coming days. Another question, what are his goals on his investments? Is it for short or long-term? Personally, I would not sell my bitcoins even if I incurred losses at this point since prices may still recover in the following months/years.

I invested bitcoin at $ 15k. Now I do not want to look at it again :(

You may incurred losses at this period but if you are not in a rush, then let time do its magic. Slowly, countries are now adopting to a digitalized form of payment into transactions and bitcoin may be the gateway towards this development. Just wait for the time being in order to minimize your losses.

The only thing that i can say to the people who invested in bitcoin from the price of $18,000 - 20,000 is to don't give up and don't lose hope if you bought at that range because just think that decision that you have been made is a lesson for your life to not get hype in the market because chasing hypes or pumps will never give you satisfaction at the end. Hold those bitcoin and wait for the chance to breakeven or get some profit from long term holding.

Those who bought bitcoin at the level of $19k should not panic, its normal to feel like that but don't focus much on the price movements always think for the goal you set when you invest. The price is highly volatile but expect the market to bounce back in the coming months, just hold it tight.

It would be abetter choice to hold than to sell. Sureky, the crash won't be permanent. And as we can see, the market is showing signs othat cryptos are recovering slowly and that is already something to be thankful of. Avoid selling and continue holding. The market price will soon rise and it will be able to recover this year  So just trust the process.

He must think first that bitcoin investment is very risky so if you have lost a lot you must not sell it must better if you tell your friend to hodl it until price recovers and reached new ath, for now we must all wait.

Just be optimistic because things will be better for Bitcoin's market value eventually. Given that your friend already invested money, he should avoid selling because that will just be a loss. The best thing to do now is to wait until its market value starts to rise again. It is also advisable to invest more since the value of Bitcoin is still low. Huge profit will then be earned when its value fully recovered from the crash.

Tell your friends to keep bitcoins and do not sell them now. Wait for some time, bitcoin will improve again. If he loses confidence in bitcoin and sells it now, your friend will lose a lot of money.

Well, I have friends that really did invest on the peak prices of bitcoins. The story behind those decisions are pretty funny because these guys never really believed in cryptos and just laughed at me whenever I talked about it to them. But after august, they were starting to have second thoughts and then when december came, they just bought like mad dogs without even asking for basic things because they were too shy to ask me.

Now, when january came in, they were regretting so much that they never asked me and are on the verge of selling. Good thing that they considered asking me first before deciding, and man, I just started laughing like hell. I just couldn't control myself. lol. But shortly after that when I learned about their sad story(lol), I gave them my advice which was; since they are already at a loss, they might as well go all in on it and not bitch out when things are not going the  way they wanted it to be. But I still clarified it to them that I cannot assure them that it is the best decision. In fact, I even offered to buy their bitcoins if they decided they really wanted to give up but they refused and told me that they'd ride this train with me and drink together when prices go up again.

Your friend does not need to invest in crypto at all if he is afraid of losing his investment, there are certain risk in investing, and you often need to put up a money where you aren't need to be afraid of losing it at all.

Yes even one of my friend is under this kind of situation and he entered his trade when the market was trading near the 19k USD and now he has been stuck in the trade and he is holding almost investment of around 30k at that price level. I know that it is not easy to manage your lose trade but he is still holding on those trades as he did not lose his hope and he is expecting that bitcoin will reach 19k in the coming months. I also gave him advice that right now the market is weak and you need to wait for the confirmation of strength and then enter your trades according to the strong candle pattern. you can even enter buy positions right now so that you can average your cost of buying.

But why did your friend bought at such a high price, everyone with any experience in crypto should have known the price was ready to dump at any minute, it comes a time where you need to look at a market objectively and say the market is overvalued and abstain to invest anymore in the market until there is a correction, after the correction it is time once again to invest in bitcoin and other alts.

I understand the feeling of seeing your portfolio dumps like that. And we can't help but panicked. It's normal. But for those people who have been here in crypto world for a year and more, they just see this as normal. And it's right, this is just normal. This will end up well. Markets are naturally volatile and there are things that we cannot predict. Just hold and have faith.

Your friend took a risk by buying bitcoin at those peak price of $18K - $20k I believed his decision to buy at those prices was based on some stupid speculations around that time that the price of bitcoin will raise to $50k which turn out to be red, well the best advice to him is keep hodling with a hope that the price will recover, how soon? no one can accurately predict the future price.

Crypro market is highly speculative and risky. No ways to predict it which are effective in the fiat world can be used for it. I'm sure your friend knew it before making such an investment. Now he should take the full responsibility for this decision. And wait fot the best situation.

Every investment come with risk, every business objective is profit, so if you invest on bitcoin when the price is 18k to 20k$, I don't see sense in it to sell now, that the price is around 8$ now, if you are not in any financial pressure, then you need  to hold it for now. Sell your bitcoin now does not make economic sense.

I think they could still hold their bitcoin until the price is back to increase so they can get their money back and after that, they can wait if the price is down again. but I am not sure how long they can hold their bitcoin because we are now on the down of the price so maybe they need to be patient while the price could increase in anytime.

WHY WOULD YOU SELL???

Sorry for screaming but seriously, I don't understand such questions.

If he bought at 20k, then he has to wait until the price gets higher. There is no wonder here!

If you invest in bitcoin just to make some profit (which is not the aim of bitcoin, just saying), then you hold until your profit is ensured. Once the price s higher, I understand that you may wonder "do I wait or do I sell know" but until that point, there is no question.

Just consider the situation:
- if you sell now, you are 100% sure you have losing money
- if you wait, there is a chance you never get your money back, at all (let's say if bitcoin suddenly dies) but also a chance (with higher probability) that if you wait enough, you will make profit

So it is quite simple, right? And if your friend cannot afford to wait quite long (1, 2 years maybe), then he shouldn't have invested first. Only invest what you can afford to lose and behave with your bitcoin as if it was unexisting money!

Yes patients is the most important emotions in every trader in crypto because if you don't have enough patients every time there is a loss or missed a possibility to earn a big profit. The price of every coin are changing anytime that's why it can give us a possibility to earn. If we have a research about the coin we should not worry about investing on this because we know that this coin will give us a big profit in the future.

I agree with you, that is the advantage of making a good research about the coin because you will be having a good fundamentals that is enough to make you confident about your investment and you will not lose any of the chances of making a profit because you will be holding and not selling since you are confident about the things that you have read and also because of the team and the project itself of the coin.

Unfortunately, learning is sometimes expensive. As he bought for 20k $, he counted on the price to rise. What has changed now. Everyone knows that the price of bitcoin varies greatly. If he still believes that the price will increase, it makes no sense to sell.

HOLD.
that's really unfortunate especially at this moment wherein its market price fell down for about 52% of its value before the crash. But take a look in the market. Currently, there are signs which shows that the market is beginning to recover from the downfall it encountered and that's a reason to hold and more likely, to invest now.

Selling now would not be the best choice for those people who invested during the ATH back in December. They probably thought the price would stabilize with high hopes of even doubling up. I can't say it was a bad decision, they definitely had reasons. It must be tough for them now but selling now is not the answer, it's just a definitive loss. Just give it time to recover or better yet seize the opportunity to invest and enjoy the low price of 8.5K USD.

With Bitcoin I was probably 50% or more underwater for several years. I went into it knowing that might be the deal, and it certainly did not disappoint me. At no point did I plan to sell.

People who got into it expecting endless gains are silly sausages. If your man can afford it then he may as well stay put. If he has pressing bills then it's a no brainer.

If believes he's going to lose all despite everything that's happening every day then he either needs to educate himself or man up.

Me too.I wasn't able to buy bitcoin at that price range,it's not really advisable to buy at that very high rate. Now that the price has decreased to half of it,you should never think selling of your coins,or else you will just lose a huge amount.Keep on holding to your bitcoins,i'm pretty sure it will still reach a new height in the coming months or years.

Well I agree on that I believe that bitcoin can really rise up high than $18k in the near future in fact some of the speculation  says that it will rich 50k use in th end of year 2018 so then if we have patience to wait I believe that we can really earn more than a half of what we invest into bitcoin.

I think he listened to speculations because during that time a lot of speculations were coming out that bitcoin price is going to reach 50k USD so someone who has no experience will indeed grab the opportunity with out thinking twice. But i hope this person will recover his losses.

That's sad for him mate. I think a lot of people experienced that. When bitcoin price reached its peak price or starting to increase, it is getting more popular that's why a lot of people chose to buy because they were hoping that they will get profit on it even the price is increasing. But as we all know, investing in bitcoin is slightly risky, you might get profitable or get lose profit. Aside from that we cannot predict what will be that price of bitcoin in the future that's why a lot of people are having 2 thoughts of buying bitcoin because they are afraid. Well, that's normal. If I were you sir, encourage your friend to not lose hope. There are many ways there to recover his lose money.

If your friend invested on that high price. He should hold his bitcoin until the bitcoins price will recover. Tell him do not panic to much. Because panicking will lead him to wrong decision.
Oh brother this is hard to bear. We can feel the pain of such people who invested in bitcoins when they were like $20k and that was their mistake. Never ever invest in any coin unless the prices are found to be at lowest price according to the time era. Bitcoins were higher than and every wise person was advising not to go for bitcoins in terms of buying. Still, don’t panic brothers.
This shows lack of patience, not only we must know when to sell and wait for the perfect time, sometimes is even more important to wait for the right time to buy, if the market is stable you can buy knowing you took a safe decision but if the price of the coin you want to buy has never being that high then it is a terrible idea to buy, you must wait, if those people waited just a month they could have bought bitcoin way cheaper than they did.

They must be very disappointed to what happen to bitcoins because they thought that the bitcoins will go up to the moon which is not because as what the statistics are showing eveytime the bitcoins goes up the bitcoins will immediately go down a hard fall bit the other people still pursue in buying bitcoins. But i know that the bitcoins will rise again my advice to those people is to have a lot of patience in holding a long time because the bitcoins will take a lot of time before climbing back to the moon.

They just have to hold their bitcoin and wait to recover,
I think there is no need to sell it at a low price specially if you don't need the money at the moment.
You just have to leave it and comeback when the price is back at the price that you want but I guess it would take some time.

If your friend is not stupid, then he will not sell his bitcoins now. Read various topics on the forum, everyone says (and I think so) that you do not need to sell it and the price will still reach new heights and your friend will change his mind. Rest assured.
i have some bitcoin that i was bought in peak of 18-20k$ but im not sad because im completely believe that the dip is just for a short time, and i have seen this for how many times,at the end of the day, bitcoin recovered and make a huge comeback.your friend must be strong enough to fight the feeling of losing instead trust this coin and prepare for income

Before January no one even thought about that bitcoin will falldown just like this... Every ones thinking was if it run like this more two week we will be rich. that's why people take a risk and invest with the big capital in Btc. Now its really a bad time for them. I suggest they should now Hold it for long time and wait until the market raise again. maybe its raising slowly but Btc will recover its price again it sure. So be patience and watch.

Advance sorry for my bad English...

The main rule of investments in cryptocurrencies is to invest funds that you can afford to lose. I hope bitcoin price will reach new heights and your friend will return his money and even make some profit.
But in this case his friend hadn’t invested the money that was above the line of loss for him. It was a unfortunate for him that afterwards prices for bitcoins were started degrading and they showed up like now. But as you have said, he can’t do anything so better is to take a deep bray and don’t panic. Don’t worry, prices are regaining toward the highness and they will surely meet his profit level.

I dont think ppl are crazy when they entered at 16-20kUSD. It is hard to have guessed that it have reached a peak and a tipping point before the crash. It is only in retrospect that we know it to have peaked then before the correction of the bubble occur triggered by a load of FUDs.

Even though I had mainly injected at 5kUSD in the past, I had also bought in at 8k, 10k, 11k, and 13k too everytime I got my salary after my savings was spent. XD
I was lucky that I decided to take out most of my original capital when it hit 17-18kUSD to lock in my profits and remove the source of “fear” (e.g. losing my original capital) but I had thought at the time it might likely continue to increase as more and more ppl joins in the mega hype, seeing how only a small % of people have gotten into crypto, hence a lot more room to grow. Guess I was over optimistic.

Recently re-injected a lot of my original capital (that was earlier taken out) at 6.1kUSD when it crashed. Didnt know that was the rock bottom too. I though it might go much lower, pehaps down all the way to 2-3k USD as some tech analysis seem to indicate base on trend alone, and I can thus continue to inject more along the way. But soon after that, the price just starts to increase again and stabilized.

The market is pretty unpredictable, and sometimes a bit of luck is certainly needed. But good investment practice and management of emotion (FOMO/FUD) and proper research is necessary.

I had also decided to not hold BTC any more but distribute my investments into LTC, XLM, EOS, NEO, OMG, Waves, QTUM, VeChain, TRON, (having researched on it over again, after the initial FUD when the team was inexperienced), AirSwap (AST), and some still left as ETH, betting for a much greater potential for %gain when the market rebounds. Keeping my fingers crossed. They could very well go the other way too and never recover if something unexpected happens, such as a scandel, or news of overly harsh regulations that may severe impact that altcoin’s long term prospects, etc. the market is changing so fast not too and it is getting so much harder to follow. In the past it was just BTC/ETH for me.

Being a loser is a choice. I think your friend is not losing right now as long as he is not cutting his loss. He will not be losing all his investment if he just hodl. I did not invest in Bitcoin but I still have small amount of holdings. If I were in your friends case of course the best thing to do is to wait and hold. Holding assets in an unstable market makes more sense than doing stupid decissions that will lead us to regret and became stressed or disappointed. I am sure your friend is not aware of the volatility of crypto and he just jump in because of trend or hype.

If u hold it, it's a money you can't use
If u sell now, it's a money lost

Sad but.. U might as well just wait for  break even or when you can make more from it
If bitcoin is going to touch 50k dollars in coming days, then it is not bad to buy bitcoin at the price of 20k dollars. In order to make this happen, all they need to do is stay calm and hold on. It is a simple rule of digital currencies world, the longer someone holds his coin the greater amount of profit he earns. Bitcoin has the most potential of increasing the capital. This dip will be over soon like the past ones had. It is common of crypto coins to increase and decrease.

As there  is a dip in the crypto market those who have invested when the prices were $ 18000 to $ 20000 there is no need to panick when the market is down as there is potential for the bitcoins to increase its value with a huge leap in the crypto market. It is quite normal in any financial market to have a hike and then a dip then after correction, the market will recover and the bitcoins have started recovering by March ending or April there are chances for a hike in the bitcoins market. Great investors have predicted that there is a possibility for the bitcoins to increase its value above $ 50000 USD by this year ending which will good for all the investors.

I was kind of lucky, cause I invested around the time the Bitcoin price rate was about to fall but made a little increase before taking the fall this time.  When I invested, the price was around $12,000 and then reached around $15,000. So I withdrew with a profit of $3,000 on each $12k that was invested. Actually I didn’t withdraw everything,  just some of the money I invested,  cause I believe that the price of Bitcoin will rise again,  and it will be soon.

We cannot change the fact that even bitcoin has a great value, still bitcoin value is very volatile and we cannot control on its price. This business is like a game that you must learn to be patient. Even me I am also sad because of the fall but still i did not lost my hopes that it is not the end. Bitcoin still offers a great earning but it is up to you if you will panic and sell it right away.

I guess your friend will not invest on bitcoin if he don't have any idea on how bitcoin's value is moving from time to time. He should back track the constant price movement  to calm himself and not do the panic selling when the price trend is going down. Just wait until the price trend goes upward, until it reaches it peak, then try to play with the trend. He will have a greater chances of recovering his losses sooner or later.

I think there should be a lot of people who buy BTC at this price!

If your friend doesn't have a financial problem, I suggest holding on to BTC.

BTC will go back slowly, now BTC excavation is very difficult. In the long run, BTC price will surely reach a high level of hate!
The problem is that is really difficult to hold bitcoin if you do not really believe in it, I did not had any problem holding my bitcoin and my other coins since I know what I'm doing and I believe the technology will change the world but for someone that just invested to make money then holding will prove to be one of the hardest challenges in his life.

Bankroll management is fundamental. Go allin is never the best answer. Your friend should have thought about the possibility of s price drop and be ready for put some more money in to buy lower and average the price. But newbies can fall into these mistakes, as I did in the past.

You can't do anythings about it for now but to advice your friend to wait and be patience about it. Your friend was just too hopeful during the high price of bitcoin. He should know that it's volatile and may change it's value anytime. If I were your friend. I will just hold it and wait for the right time until it reach a good value where it would be profitable to sell it.

This is the right advice but just think about you invested in something you do not know much about it and you lost more than half of the value of your savings in just a few weeks and there is no telling when you are going to get that money back, holding will be difficult don't you think? This is why it is really important to buy at the right time those that waited bought bitcoin for cheap and are now making profits.

If ever I did, I would hold on to it and not let go until it original position. It would be a terrible loss to let it go now. But if I really need the money for expenses then maybe take out what partly juts what is needed.

You cant do anything now if you lose that much but to hold and wait for the price to pump.
one better thing to do is to buy not more or same amount that he invested before.
iF he bought bitcoin for 20K usd and buy now at 9000 USD then he will get equal once the bitcoin gain the price at 14,500 USD. that's how PRO do to investment. Never PANIC!

yes, it is not good if we sell right now because we will lose much money and it is better to still hold the bitcoin until the price back to that price again. I cannot imagine what will I do if I have this experience but I can make sure that I won't selling my bitcoin even if I buy at the high price because I believe that the price will increase higher and higher than the price I buy.

Yeah, absolutely, if this investment is not needed but you are worried of what is happening to the market now, having a very deep value. Will the only thing to do is holding, that's the best way to avoid loses of your capital investment so that you can enjoy the long term investment which is good for some people so as you have the experience on that case too.

The banal case. People like your friend are very many who buy at the peak of prices with the hope of further growth, but not everyone asks for advice and thinks about further actions, but simply in a panic sells their bitcoins when the price goes down. Only hold.

It might be very frustrating and painful to look at the values of bitcoin now, but I guess your friend best option would be to hold those bitcoin that he bought at the price range of $18k-$20k USD rather than selling all of it away at such a huge loss.

All I can say is, this is not the right time for your friend to sell his Bitcoin if it is purchased on 18K. Your friend will be in great lost if he sell it now. All I can advise is hold it now till the end of the year. Because by that time Bitcoin may reach 30K to 50K$. Remember good things happens to people who patiently wait.

I think they panicked and feared it was a very natural thing. Moreover, they buy Bitcoin at a very expensive price and now really down the price. Who does not panic at the current price of Bitcoin? Panic may be but do not let us sell Bitcoin when we are again panicked and emotion like that. The main thing we do when we want to invest is to accept any risk that will happen later. And the person you are telling me, he is not yet fully able to accept Bitcoin. He is only tempted by the enormous price of Bitcoin and hopes to get the benefits as expected. If from the beginning we think like this, it's wrong. Because here our patience is really tested and must be able to pass all the process.

The lower the bitcoin price value the better to invest because it has great potential to earn more profit when it gets high again.. he might as well hold his coins and wait and don't lose hope he can still have the chance to recover what he invest..knowing its condition is really unpredictable.

I am sure that many people would have invested at those levels and it must be very hard situation for them. When I see just 5% drop or more in bitcoin holdings, I get worried sometimes. Someone loosing 50% in few months will certainly fee bad especially if he has invested a large amount. Another problem with such a huge crash is that the money gets stuck for lot of time. No sensible person will withdraw in loss and thus wait for it to recover to $20000. Since, that is going to take time, money is stuck for that time period.

That is why, it is always important to just invest the amount that we can afford to lose and never invest money more than that level because it will give a lot of stress to us and it will not make us feel comfortable over the time when the price is dumping or giving our portfolio a loss. So it is better to be safe than sorry so even bitcoin reaches $1,000 then it is not that bad for us.

I will never believe that a person can not worry about the fact that the price of its investments decreased by 3 times. You need to have nerves of steel. I also would not sell their coins, but those coins I earned. I didn't buy them for Fiat. So I will hold them even if the price drops to a minimum. I also believe in bitcoin.

Yes.It's the faith that matters.Once you invested in bitcoin i'm sure you know already how risky it is especially if you invested with a very high capital.I suggest that it's better to keep on holding your bitcoin and stretch your patience more, than selling it in a low price and lose 50% of your capital.Holding is still the best thing to do particularly in this very down market.

That'll be a devastating one if they bought it at that price when its market price goes down almost 60% of its price when they bought it. I think, selling it is pointless this team and hodling is the least they can do. Just wait, believe and have patience because bitcoin hasn't reach its peak yet.

Yeah, probably some are experiencing that same situations and probably feel so worried. If he/she strongly believe in crypto that wanted to get back the losses then patience must be the key to somehow can do the break even. As of these moment, bitcoin still in dip so holding for now is the option to at least help the coin to recover and probably will stop to it from falling.

The lower the bitcoin price value the better to invest because it has great potential to earn more profit when it gets high again.. he might as well hold his coins and wait and don't lose hope he can still have the chance to recover what he invest..knowing its condition is really unpredictable.
Here I would like to throw some light on the human nature which is called as greed. In all of our personality we have this, and it always try to dictate us to do the decisions in the hurry and affect the budget. Last year when bitcoin was at the level of $18k and above, the news started circulating that bitcoin is going to fall to the level of $14k and all the people who had their money invested with knowing about news started taking out their money. At that time greed came over certain people and they invested just to earn the profit and without any prior knowledge of the market.

This is one of the reason why there are a lot of people who are losing their trust on cryptocurrency because they are not well knowledgeable about how the market works when they are just starting to invest.

One of the most important rules of crypto investing is not investing more than what you are willing to lose!

if your friend wants to quickly get back what he invested he could try day trading which would be giving him some varying profits on a daily basis depending on the cryptocurrency he chooses to trade but he needs to learn the art its not something you learn in a day.

yeah i have some friends like that too
bitcoin is very unpredictable we need a heart of steel to trading with it if that price is very abused, just change mode to investment
just closed and forget it, maybe a couple month it will better again

I strongly believe that bitcoin would cross 20k again in six months time. So be patient and holding coins in this situation would be better.

uniquely someone bought $ 20,000 dollars or $ 18,000 dollars, But it was all uncritical for them. Bitcoin went up and everyone thought that he would not stop at the reached level.

The only thing to do now is to keep BTC and forget about it!

Wait until one year later to see the price of BTC!

I have not done such thing as investing while Bitcoin was currently on its peak because I know the risk associated on investing at that moment and I think I have done the right move because I would just rather go investing if I see that something has a potential to grow and invest on it while price is somehow in a low price so that it can be observable that my money invested is undergoing the process of development because it is observable that my money grows from the initial.

yes, they still have a good chance to see the price rise again so they can sell it again but I am afraid that they need to wait for a long time and without any explanation when the price will increase. I think if I have this experience, maybe I will to close every market that I joined and will do the other things so I don't have to regret or feel disappointed because the price does not increase for now. I can do many things to prepare for the rise of the price so I can be ready to sell bitcoin once it increases higher.

There is no need to worry about the present situation of the Bitcoin market, there is a huge chance for the people who bought the Bitcoin at the higher price. The present option they have is if they can manage to keep more money it is better to buy them at the present price of the Bitcoin. In this way, they can easily attain the average price of the Bitcoin.

I may include people who experience similar events. However at that time i bought when the price was around $15k- $17. When i see the market is always red i take the initiative and sell it when it costs $11k but i don't sell everything only 20% of what i have, because i think the price will recover. But in fact. . .(Angry)
I understand exactly what your friends feel, because i myself suffered from depression because the incident is precisely the price even more added down. One is certain until now i still hold 80% of the rest of the sale and although the price is cheap I do not dare to buy again due to the risky market conditions.

Most of us will be hopeless and feel disappointed if we saw our investments in a declining stage, the proper way to handle it is to stay calm and wait for the right time but most of the time normal people don't even care whether they lose what matters most is that they get atleast half of the value they invested.

If you invest on bitcoin when the price is 18k to 20k$, they have no point of selling their bitcoin now, rather they can still hold on till market value appreciate, price frustration is one of the risk associated investment in bitcoin,. After rain sun will shine again, the price will soon appreciate.

Naturally, our own impulse would be to panic sell our btc. But that's not the smartest thing. Moat of the time, actions based on impulse would just destroy our plans for success. I bought at 17,000 and right nkw im really at a huge loss, that's if i sold at the price right now. But thats not gonna happen. I know btc is gonna climb back up so im holding and waiting. If i have to forget i have btc then i will and remember it the time its already up.

I keep holding my coins that time thinking that the market will bounce back like what is usually happened after the series of dip before but the latest ultimate dip is truly a pain in the neck in which i realized now that if will just given another chance i will sell all my coins on that day and buy it cheap once again today. Now always getting worried everytime that there is a dip thinking that it will be the end of my investments.

I don't think that .. one should think that much about it what I did was very similar to this.. and after that.. seeing the dip I... Just switched off the notifications of the offline wallet that I use and stopped seeing the price ..and trust me that has helped me a lot !
A lot to be.. carefree and..to be focused on holding.
Because no way am selling when the price is that low.

Best thing to do always is to have patient. We are all very sure that the price rate will at sometime go up, no matter how low. Most of you don’t even know what market is all about. This is market and it will always be volatile (and highly volatile when it comes to cryptocurrency) if you’re not ready to take the risks involved, then you better quit without looking back. Stop expecting the price to keep on going up always.

That is best advice so far. Definitely all those who have bought bitcoins at higher prices like $17k or above back in 2017, this is not a good time to sell. If you do so, bad losses will be in your account. You people never did invested for taking losses back so wait until prices surpasses your buying prices and getting higher. That would be best for you to sell and earn some handsome money.

Instead of selling their bitcoin to get their money back with losses. It is better if they will just study trading and try to master it because that is the best way in order to slowly recover and gain profit again so they don't need to sell their bitcoin to take back their money because they can grow it through trading altcoins in the different crypto exchanges.

I think those people who have invested in this peak of the charts, are mostly new investors who have no idea about investing or cryptocurrencies. Those are for sure the weak hands who already sold their coins and make a huge loss. So these people made a very bad experience with cryptocurrencies and im sure they will not invest anymore in cryptocurrencies ;D

Well i don't think there are a lot of these people right now. They've probably contributed already to the price drop by selling their btcs at a loss. I don't think it's that bad even if you've bought in at 15-18k. I'm pretty sure we can still top that but it will take time. Hence the importance of spending what you can only afford to lose

If your friend is not stupid, then he will not sell his bitcoins now. Read various topics on the forum, everyone says (and I think so) that you do not need to sell it and the price will still reach new heights and your friend will change his mind. Rest assured.
if until now they are still doing business on bitcoin maybe they already get some very big money, in fact every year bitcoin prices always soar

Just a piece of advise, tell your frient to not sell his Bitcoins. I understand that it is quite a disappointment given the current price of it but hey, if you are going to based it on the historical trend of Bitcoin then he should not worry at all, its value will still slowly but surely get back on track, just be patient and hold, it has been just a couple of months, we are yet to see Bitcoin's price to the moon and I believe it will happen this year.

I think the best way you do is give her/him  advise that don't lose hope because bitcoin will back on track just be patient. And I think most of us in crypto word feel that way too. Lesson learn is always buy bitcoin if the price is low so when the bitcoin go high you get big profit.

Better let him hold his Bitcoin first, of course it is very disappointing most especially his loss was half of the amount he bought Bitcoin with but he should’ve know in the first place that it’s not the same amount everytime and trading is risky especially with Bitcoin in which the price is constantly fluctuating so of course don’t expect Bitcoin to keep on rising too. The best thing he needs to do is just hold Bitcoin first and leave it for a couple of months or years even to gain profit.

I can't say that bitcoin will come at the price of $18,000 up to $20,000. At this time we know that the bitcoin value is unstable and it always makes a correction and unfortunately it is in a low price situation. Possible that after this year the bitcoin price will reach again at $20,000.

That’s what market is all about, some people will have to lose for others to earn. If they don’t lose, those who earn won’t be able to earn. What these people have to do now is just wait till another opportunity comes for them to earn. I would even recommend that they invest now at a lower rate if they are able to take the risk and wait for price of go up again. But they shouldn’t worry much, another good opportunity is coming for sure.

This is the truth,  I bought 2 btc when btc was $19000 but it can't bother me because I have made more than that on icos #investwisely
For the ones who bought bitcoin at such a high rate, this present situation must be very much tough to handle and that they will be very much worried because of the decrease in the market value of bitcoin but the thing is they need to keep their emotions under their control to stay away from any kind of loss. If they lost their control over their emotions, then they will suffer a huge loss which they will never desire.

I perfectly understand the feelings of utmost disappointment and frustration that people who bought at the peak are now feeling. But here's an age-old wisdom that says that there is only one thing worse than false hope, and that is false hopelessness. Personally, I don't expect that we will soon get back to 20k or even 12k, though that doesn't mean that we are lost. There is plenty of volatility in range of dozens percentages monthly which makes it perfectly feasible to make up for the losses incurred via trading. This is what people do everyday, and they not only completely offset the losses they suffered but even earn profits thanks to volatility.

I feel you or the so called friend of yours should not have bought much during that price hype periods, in case of next time, if you are buying at all at such instances, you should not bite more than what you can chew, meaning you should only invest what you can afford to loose. As the case is now, you got no choice other than to still continues to hold, because most of us believed that by the next Quarter of the year, Bitcoin shall again boom to its upsurge or hype prices.

Just imagine those guys holding these assets now. They will get rid of them asap when bitcoin reaches the level they bought at. I think that they dont want to experience that stress again. So there will be a sale at every key price level that bitcoin reachs. This will prevent it from growing too fast.

So I think that is the dumbest decision that your friend have done. I guess he is thinking that bitcoin will go up continuously and expecting for an income. But if you are thinking correctly, you would have thought many times before deciding so that you will not come up into an unexpected outcome. So for your friend, I feel sorry for him/her,maybe next time do not that again, we can apply here what we commonly hear,  Buy low and Sell high. So applying this concept can greatly help you to earn more. For me,if I am on his shoes, surely I would not sell it because I cannot accept that I have lost too much, I will probably wait for it to go back in its peak before selling it applying the concept of buying low and selling high.

Well, this is really a nightmare to him. Yes, we are all amaze in btc last year when it's reach $20k and we are all almost think that btc will reach $40k This year and some of us never thinks the dump we only think about "how about bitcoin reach $40k next year?" That word. And today some of us are really disappointed well guys it's dump time but there is still pump time :) soon.
It can be hard for a person to look at the present value of bitcoin and stay calm if he has bought bitcoin at 20k dollars but it would be very helpful if he simply take a look at the future values of bitcoin. The end year value of 2018 is estimated to be at least 30k dollars, giving him profit of 10k dollars and that is not a small amount. The only requirement is to hold a little longer. That should not be very difficult. It is also expected to touch 90k dollars by the end of 2020.

It is not level of stress for them but it is way of getting satisfying life, today it is digital currency age so you must have something saved with you, digital currency is increasing in price specially the bitcoin so they are lucky who have bought bitcoin at very low price of 20k, now bitcoin price is stock market is almost 25k so if they will hold their bitcoin for few months they will surely make high profit and they will end up selling their bitcoin at price of 100k dollar after holding it for one year only.

I believe that may have been a miscalculated investment, maybe the thought or idea of bitcoins
reaching that high might have made that person think that it will rise further. It was obviously
very risky and from it a lot of us learned. We should never underestimate bitcoin's volatility and
avoid overestimating price hikes. The way I see it, that person wanted to ride with bitcoin's
accelerating ride, but caught it at a wrong time. It would be best to hold those investments for
the time being and wait. There is much speculation that bitcoin will overlap last years numbers
at the end of this year, there's a better chance to to profit then.

That is what you really called FOMO, I guess your friend is one of those irrational buyers back then that thinks it can still go up to around $30K-$50K. On the contrary, I was lucky enough to offload most of my stash during the peak and take home the profits and re-invest if possible.

I guess your friend can't do anything at this point but to hold and hope that we can still make a significant run at the end of the year. So at least to have break even on his investment.

This year is really different, it seems we can't go off the ground to go to the moon again because of a lot of FUD's and banning from countries in the world.

I would just hold my bitcoin if I have bought it at that price and wait till it recovers back,
I think that it is much more better to just hold it than to sell it while it is at a low price you already lost some money so just hold it and wait for it to recover.

yes, we only have one choice for this and it is better to still hold our bitcoin until the price is back to increase again. although this is difficult for us and many people suggest to sell our bitcoin, but I prefer to hold no matter how long the price will increase again. I think if we can manage our emotion to face this, in the future when the price is up, we can make a lot of profit. so in this time, I think learning about controlling our emotion is really important.

Fear not about the price dropping by 50%. Somewhat similar thing happened in past (2009) as well (known as mt.gox incident). The prices were surged to the 1000 or 1200$ and after the burst price plummeted to the ~$250 range. It took almost five to six years for bitcoin to recover. Nonetheless price of bitcoin will recover in future provided that one needs to wait till that time comes.

I think it's normal for them to get sad and anger at the same time especially if those investor are newbies or new to the crypto markets. Buying at those highs will be so upset for them. I think the best way they can do is just hold their coins and relax and forget about everything they invest here in bitcoin and just come back after it rise or they learn new things about bitcoin so they will learn how to earn more here.

Basic principle that everybody always been taught but hardly implement "Don't invest you dont want to lose in Crypto" a simple but powerful, if you afford to lose what you invested and made a mistake buy buying in high price tendency is that you can afford to wait for the price go up, and definitely it could go up, its a Crypto's lifecycle

I see the title of your topic about rising bitcoin prices, but which, while you ask, from losing your friend's investment with cripto money.

Now I will explain that when bitcoin prices rise high they surely benefit from investing cripto their money.

Judging from the amount saved if that time they deposit their investment deposit with a large amount of course they will also get more profit, That is the advantage of us invest cripto money.

As our savings will increase as the cripto money goes up, but if they deposit their deposit with a small amount.

They still benefit from investing the cripto money they invest in, even though their investment deposit benefits are minimal.

So they will definitely benefit if we invest cripto money. Investing in cripyo money also raises the risk of losing some of the cripto money reserves we invest.

No need to feel sad to see your friend who lost a lot of saldobdeposit savings because they are not actively focus on investing cripto money, this is a lesson for oarang who do not focus on cripto money investing.

Because obviously they experience a loss when investing cripto money.

So as good as possible should be considered if you do not want to lose some of the balance of cripto money deposit.

We are all wise in hindsight, and Google comes up with as many as 74 quotes (https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/tag/hindsight) on the theme. The point is the longer you think doesn't automatically make you any better off in the end. In fact, it is often quite the other way around. That dude may have hesitated to buy at 10k, then at 15k, only to buy at the peak and soon see the price plummet like a stone. The concept you mention - buy low and sell high - is useless in and of itself because every successful trade eventually comes down to that truism but it doesn't tell anything what you should do in practice and which steps to take to get there. And we all sort of understand it.

Because he is your friend, you should not have allowed him to buy the Bitcoins at that Peak season at all, because it carries high risk. The simple rule of buy at low prices and sell at high prices must always be considered and applied in this field if you don't want to be encountering losses as this. However, let your friend still understands that Bitcoin is still the safest and surest way to invests if and only if he can still hold on to the ones he has with long patience to witness the next boom for sure not minding the volatility which is so natural.

Myself, I don't quite agree with this market truism. First, losing anything, however little, is not a good idea, to begin with, because if you agree to lose from beginning, why trade at all? You start trading with the aim at and hope of earning, right? Further, if you invest only what you can leave to rest, meaning you don't particularly care about the possible loss of your investments, then you won't care much for the profits earned either, because they will be as small. In a nutshell, we have to risk, but definitely not risk all.

Selling at this point is a bad move. Tell you friend that it's okay, he can still get his money back if he will be patient enough to wait for the market to settle again. If you invested in bitcoin when it was 18k-$20k then you should not be thinking about selling. You can panic, get scared but do not let emotions get the better of you, don't sell. Wait and hold your coins and ride this bearish wave into the bull market. Absolutely! The future belongs to those who are investing into crypto currencies rather specifically into bitcoin at present no matter at which price they are getting involved with it. The point is that many people are unfamiliar with bitcoin at the moment and the prices will shoot up damn high with increasing support. By then, it would not be possible for everyone to invest into bitcoin and keep it in wallets.

Investing on a range of $18k ~ $20k is really bad because there is a huge chance for you to lose all of your investment since the price is not really stable as of now. The best thing to do is just hold your capital and wait for the price of bitcoins to increase before investing a huge amount.

No doubt, those people would be in a great worry by looking at the present market. Not only this, but the dip has been a little longer than it usually remains. But if they decide to sell out now, not only will they lose invested money but the chance to make some profit too. All of us know that bitcoin is in its infancy and has a lot of potential to grow. It can be 30k dollars by the end of this year. So there is no need to get sacred, just hold and relax.

Your friend must have been carried away by the stupid speculations surrounding bitcoin that time, recall there was a prediction then that the price of bitcoin will $50K in January 2018 which might prompted him to buy at $18K-$20K however presently the price is around $7K to $8K  the available option now is to keep hodling there is possibility that the price might reach that mark in the nearest future I.e break-even.

It was very obvious that those people who invest on that day are just joining the hype in the market and they are not well knowledgeable about how the system works and this is the main reason why they quit on trading because they obviously lose a huge amount of investment.

At that time it was expected that bitcoin price is very soon going to reach to 25000$ and my personal view is that they were very right at that time, now i think that they need to wait and do not lose heart, because very good bitcoin price is expected to reach that price and even it will cross the price in which they trade bitcoin and will even give them a good profit.

That was not a great idea then. Its is a lesson to everybody thay it was not a good move. Let us be more strategic when it comes to trading and investing in the world of crypto currency. Price can go very high so dont rush things. We can be richer if we do right moves.

It is easy to be wise after the event. As someone once said, before you are wise and after you are wise, while in between you are otherwise. When Bitcoin had just started rising in August from a little over $2k, no one really expected that it would rise 10x within just a few months. People were expecting corrections at $6k (and some happened), then at $10k, and so on. But since Bitcoin had been rising almost non-stop from $10k, even the most cautious ones lost their prudence and discretion eventually, and then expectedly got caught and trapped.

Of course it is difficult to deliver itself to the place of people who I bought bitcoin for $15000-18000. But for an output here one, it is necessary to wait until the end of the year and you will see the price in $25000-30000 and get profit.

Those people who invested in $18k-$20k are having a hard time in waiting for the price to increase since bitcoin price now is getting lower and lower,if they don't want to lost with their investment then they should keep their bitcoin patiently and wait for the price to reach $20k and above.

I want the prices to rise as high as possible and as reliably as a Swiss watch. However, I simply don't see why they should rise now or in the future unless Bitcoin gets mass adoption. But I don't see any plausible signs of the latter either. And with prices constantly spiraling down, there is little hope if things are going to change for the better in the foreseeable future. Whenever there will be an upsurge, however big and intense, people will sell out instantly and then run away for good.

I agree because that’s the only way you can lessen your losses although it may take some time but at least it will be worth it when you hold them for a few more months or years. Not unless if you want to take loss and sell all your coins, you might regret it once bitcoin increases its price. So decide for yourself what you think is best and go for it.

They don't have to worry things as this last quarter of this year is the big revenge for sure that their hard earned money will grow again, so there is nothing to worry about it, I also buy bitcoin just a  little in the amount of $16k but that does not discourage me, so what I am doing now is to buy more to offset the amount I lost.

My friends bought some bitcoin when it hit its ATH value on december. Now they have a regret.

But they also know that bitcoin would recover in the next time, there is no stop in its adoption globally.

Very hard bro! Very hard!! Probably, maybe as a result of my knowledge of the stock market and how I have experienced somethings like this in the past trading stocks, I have always learned not to ever buy any market whenever it is in a bull rally because you are just going to end up screwing yourself. Nothing was driving the market except speculations, and this is the result.

I feel for them honestly, but right now I am happy buying the dips and I believe anyone who bought at the top should still do the same, as that can help them recover some when the market bounces back, even though it does not bounce to the previous ATH before the end of the year.

Those people really had little knowledge about the market. they should have taken advice from someone who was the old player of the market because the price at which they invested was not actually meant for investing rather that was for those who want to enjoy the profit and cash out their investments. Still if these investors have not withdrawn their money, they still have chance to make some good profit.

Of course I will not sell it.If I will sell it, it just mean that I accept that I lose. I will still wait for the price to increase. This is the best thing to do. Thus, we must bear in mind that in investment we really need patience.

Not a very wise idea if you ask me. Acting on impulse is not a good idea anywhere, but it can be really dangerous in trading and investing. Averaging down is a lame thing in general unless you know exactly what you are doing. But if you knew, you wouldn't at first buy at a high price at all. If anything, it makes sense to sell some of your stash and then buy back when the price goes gown further, thus bailing yourself out of the predicament you got into. Otherwise, you are only going deeper into trouble, especially if prices continue to plummet all over again.

Those who invested in the $ 18k to $ 20k dollars made a mistake once, but Bitcoin remained too much for $ 15,000. Those who did not sell Bitcoin for 15,000 dollars made the second mistake.

Its important to remember that if you bought at the top in any previous major bull runs over the last 6 years and did not sell you are sitting on some humongous profit. Of course the past doesn't always repeat however its a good indicator.

One of the most important rules of crypto investing is not investing more than what you are willing to lose---Wow

For someone who is new, I am pretty sure it is a very tough one to handle and there is no doubt about that but over time, they will get used to the idea on how the volatility of the market really is. There is really nothing we can do now can we ?

I remember when I was in this shoe some years back, I only ended up listening to the idea of HODL, since I could not trade anyway, but as time goes on, it still paid out. This is the reason they always tell people never to invest in what they cannot afford to lose.

They are now probably in bad mood. Why they bought on that price and price is now just little over 8000. Many who have bought 1 or more bitcoin then have loss of roughly 10k per coin and this is really bad for them.
Maybe they will have better luck if they hold and dont get to emotional on this cuz every big price comes with the fall then recovery and again and we going up in price. This will happen again but dont think we will see some major price movement or increase this year.

Sorry to sound like a wet blanket, but it doesn't work like this all the time. Everything peaks out eventually but even if it didn't, it still doesn't make much sense to sit and wait while your capital continues to disappear. Especially, when you can employ many tools to minimize your losses and even turn them into profits over time. Sitting and waiting is a bag-holder mentality, end of story. It works until it doesn't, and then it no longer matters how many times it worked out before since in the end you lose all, both your capital and your profits alike.

Most of the people i know who have invested in bitcoin around that price, had already cut their losses once the price went down to 10k usd, it seems that FOMO was overwhelming at that time, what they lack is financial education, what they did was just ride the bandwagon and gotten greedy, they also forgot to do their own research. What's funny is when I told them about bitcoin around the 4k usd price, they said it was already high, but they invested at the 18k mark and above. Financial educational still needs to be done for them and more on investing, if they want to gain more from bitcoin, since it is a volatile investment.

Now these people are under very high pressure. Probably all the time they are wondering what to do. Sell or hold. Under the influence of stress, they can make decisions unfavorable to them because they think that there is no good solution in this situation. It seems most reasonable to hold and wait for the price to rise.

Just imagine those guys holding these assets now. They will get rid of them asap when bitcoin reaches the level they bought at. I think that they dont want to experience that stress again. So there will be a sale at every key price level that bitcoin reachs. This will prevent it from growing too fast.

Honestly, unless we want to lie to ourselves, the fact is that I can understand how uneasy it may be for some who invested for the wrong reasons, and even those who did for the right reasons, may not have envisaged the volatility to get to this level.

In as much as some of us may think it is the way the market is based on our experiences and over time it would recover, the fact still remains that no one bought from the top can watch this lingering on and on while watching their investment being drained hugely and not have some little bit of fear.

However, it is the way things are but we have to just hold on strong until things get back to being positive and the market recovers, since selling now anyway would be pointless and this is one of the reason why you should always invest what you can afford to lose. Not that you have the mind to lose it, but to at least not bother about all these huge volatility if you are holding.

He is stupid enough to invest it in an all-time high where anything could possibly go wrong in any turn of event. Volatility of Bitcoin is there when it reached such amount and a sudden drop would basically hurt. Now that the problem is there, it is better to keep that investment on hold and wait for another rise.

It's quite unfortunate for him, but these are the type of risks that you have to accept when getting involved in cryptocurrencies. Hopefully sooner or later it will raise again to those levels, but he simply got in at the wrong time, not much he can do about that. If I had gotten in at that point I would hold, because selling now will for sure be at loss, and I would rather have the chance of making some profit instead of having the certainty of loosing money.

You know when someone was expecting something pretty good and all of a sudden things started getting so messy. That is just exactly how it is. The market is highly volatile and that is the way it has always been, but as time goes on, people who are new will get to realize this and find a way to live with it.

It can be crazy for real, as no one really want to see their investments beaten badly when they have the mindset that the market is going to be a strong one. But no market works as per our expectations and we need to accept ups and downs time to time.

I'm not sure if it has a lot to do with financial education as such. If I can put it this way, when emotions start to talk (it will be greed in this case), the voice of reason is silenced and no longer audible. So no amount of education will guard you from making this type of error. Recently, I read about some dude here who claimed to have 35 years of trading experience, and he still got caught with all the hype. I don't know how true his claims are in respect to his trading career, but it is obvious that you need a lot of experience to successfully withstand the call of the greed and the impact of crowd psychology.

It's normal, most investors or even traders have done the same mistake investing out of FOMO. The best thing that your friend can do right now is not to panic sell, just hodl his investment because there's no point on selling your investment for 50% loss. Tell your friend that bitcoin is not a short-term investment.

Now he is sad and disappointed seeing that the current price has dropped to 50% and more and he is afraid he is going to lose all. In short, he lost his hope and faith in bitcoin already. Has anyone here did the same as he did? If you did invest in that amount what did you do to your bitcoin, did you sell it or still holding it?
I have never felt what your friends are feeling now. I have never lost my hopes and beliefs about Bitcoin despite the very low Bitcoin price. And if I am in your friend's position, I will not sell my Bitcoin and I will still hold it. Because for me all that is only temporary.
Great thinking mate, no need to lose hope with your bitcoin because price use to increase very fast, if today bitcoin price is low so the only thing you should do is holding your bitcoin, price and fall in bitcoin is very common so no need to lose your patience and your hope of getting rich, at the present time nothing is better than bitcoin, so same as you my trust for bitcoin is increasing more and more. So invest more and no need to lose you believe for bitcoin, soon market will move and price will be very high.

I think not more than 50% of the people are still buying and holding until now around the 18,000k range, its simply a total lost and waste of money and many of the m had already liquify their cryptos to minimize loses, sorry to say but we need to wait at least q3 for the trend to pick up again, noted that big players wouldn't simply let the market down and there are chances in which it go back to that similar range, sell or hold? if you aren't afraid to learn more, you could just sell and try to go into other alts since many coins are pretty much discounted now.

I had brought 0.1 bitcoin at the rate of 19,000$.By today price it's low.But I had a faith in bitcoin and it will recover more than that by this year end.So I will hold till the price raise more than 19,000$.

He is stupid enough to invest it in an all-time high where anything could possibly go wrong in any turn of event. Volatility of Bitcoin is there when it reached such amount and a sudden drop would basically hurt. Now that the problem is there, it is better to keep that investment on hold and wait for another rise.
I agree. He acted like a typical beginner. Therefore, either his funds will be frozen in anticipation of or fix a loss. I would have waited in his place)

This scenario might be a nightmare for some of them because surely, they are losing profit at this moment. From a market value of 18k usd, down to 7000 usd, it is really a problem. But still, for some people, holding is still a good idea given that this year has jist started and due to rhe expectations that true increase on its value will happen.

In reality bitcoin value is unpredictable. If you could ask that question? Nobody could answer the exact date but the important thing, is that, as long bitcoin has worth value, we could make business from it , and no matter what, bitcoin is a good source of income, the show must go on. Lets support btc throughout the
Year. :)

I was stuck also when Bitcoin at the price of $ 19000, I bought it,
but I am lucky I always put the net if the asset down to 3% will automatically be sold,
my Bitcoin sold at $ 18500 then Bitcoin price continues to fall to the present, lucky I did not get stuck too deep..

Well they have to keep holding and waiting patiently until the price go up highly again. They haven't many solutions, if they sell with this actual BTC rates, their losses would be really big. I think most of them studied the market well before investing, and have already their plans to keep holding for long term, even for several coming years.

There are so many investors who have invested their money into bitcoin at time when its market value was over 15k $ because they were thinking of more increase in the market value of the bitcoin but then things happened other way round. However, still nothing much have changed and that they can still make some very good amount of money as well but for that they need to keep on holding their bitcoins.

I will not put the blame on the people who have purchased the bitcoin when the price was highest of all the time and the reason is that at that time the price of the bitcoin was getting higher continuously and the predictions were that before Christmas the price will be around $25k, so those who joined the platform of the bitcoin late, were also expecting the small profits but the market suddenly started falling.

In December bitcoin's price had a totally unsustainable parabolic rise. Those who buy any asset during a phase of parabolic rise should be aware of what they are risking. If they are not, they will become aware only by the way of a the inevitable catastrophe which usually follows the parabolic rise of the price of an asset.

You are assuming the best out of those people, if they were that smart why they bought bitcoin when the price was so high? It was obvious that it was impossible to maintain that price for a long time you did not needed to be very smart to know that in fact those that invested at that time invested because they were afraid that bitcoin will skyrocket out of control and they will not get profits, they invested not because they did an analysis they invested out of impulse.

Not at that level, no - but still way later than the lucky ones. ;) I would understand any level frustration but that is a normal economical cycle. First something gets interesting, way more people invest and slowly the value normalizes again. The most important long-term effect of the spectacular rise is going to be, that the broader public got in contact with the concept and is going to become more interested in new blockchain ideas.

Just imagine those guys holding these assets now. They will get rid of them asap when bitcoin reaches the level they bought at. I think that they dont want to experience that stress again. So there will be a sale at every key price level that bitcoin reachs. This will prevent it from growing too fast.
That is the reason why that is going to be a huge resistance and anything that would make us to break that resistance this year, then that is going to be a good news. There is going to be a huge sell off at that region, so we should believe that unless there is a mass adoption or the news changes highly to positive, then we may assume breaking it should be possible but we have to just wait and see how things turn out.

At this stage, I am sure anyone who is smart would not bother about now, but would only take advantage of the dip to make up for the loss that was accrued from buying at the top. It is the way life is and rather than complaining, at least just finds something from it that you can utilize for your own gain. I know how crazy it is as I have been there but it is the long run that matters anyway.

I think it's the most important thought. As long as you are in the plus it's not that bad. For me it's the same, so i don't really care that much. And I think the dip will be a lot deeper, but it's crypto, i think we will see the bulls in summer . My initial investment of $1000 currently sits at about $3000 from an ATH of about $20,000. It Goes down 8-10% than bounce back 5-6%. If you are a good trader you could time it and capitalize well. The price is so low now that there aren't profit in mining anymore. So would play with caution concerning mineable coins

Its good that some were able to bought their bitcoin at low price, they could still have profit on it. Its always a rule to buy at low price and sell in high price. However, some people were able to bought their bitcoins last year when the price is at $18k to $20k thinking that they could gain profit and bitcoin will always have peak season, and thats actually the wrong move as an investor. Well, if i will be in their shoes id rather hold it first and wait till it rise again and gain profit.

There are times that we really lose especially in crypto market.  But, we shouldn't be worried because we know crypto will never give us hard time to get back our losses as long as we know how to manage our assets then were good. Like at these time, we can actually buy some coins because its value is at dip and sooner it will increased and price will be enough for us to earn some profits.

Right now, although this is a dip and it has been observing since the last three months. One of the longest dip for Bitcoins so far where since the last December, prices got down so drastically from $21000 to $7000 or around in just one week. So yes, now prices are trending towards up so gear up your belts and don’t sell. Hold until the prices surpass your buying amount and then sell.

If you invested in bitcoin at 18k-20k then it is imperative that you hold on to your coins and not sell it off because if you do you will be selling at a loss and recording massive losses but if you hold till the next bull market, then you can make some profit.

No one forces you to sell all your coins, you can sell like 10%. And if the price goes up exactly after that moment, which is rarely the case, you can just deal with that and keep on holding your remaining coins. But if we look at the price patterns which repeated themselves since the price started to go down in early January, there were a lot of opportunities to make up for your losses even if you bought at the very peak in December. Just resist the urge to sell it all when you start selling at a loss.

If I have that particular Bitcoin amount during the time slide down the price of bitcoin of course I really quick
decide to hold my bitcoin because obviously your capital become lose then you will wait until it the price high come up, just like the story of my little investment in BTC when I've notice that bitcoin will continue going down I can immediately withdraw my few investment to avoid lose capital.

Wait a minute maybe the price in the middle of the year will return to normal, because when your friends buy the highest price would have been using the calculation of steadiness.
So there's nothing wrong if you have to wait a little longer to make a profit.

Surely there are many people who made the same thing and we can't blame them for doing a thing as such. They might be thinking and expecting that time thay the increase will be comtinuous. Keep jn mind that those who invested at that amojnt won't lose profit if they will not sell,as simple as that. As such, holding is really necessary to redeem the loss at this moment.

I don't get why people thought it was going to keep increasing in price, even after $12.000 it seemed like a great risk to buy any coins, why would someone buy at $20.000? I do feel a little sorry for those who did, I can imagine it's a great stress for them, but it should have been expected, it was like playing with fire at such a high price.

A lot of people are trading bitcoin at that price, and i think those people who are experienced and have spent a lot of time in bitcoin, i think they are holding their bitcoin so patiently, in fact they know the nature of bitcoin and expected that its price will increase too much, therefore they are not selling their bitcoin in such a low price, i think those people who do not have good experienced in trading they have sold their bitcoin because of the bearing trend for a long time.

How likely is it that Bitcoin will reach 1M dollars in a couple of years if we take your 2012 price as a basis for our calculation? I don't think that very likely. In my view, waiting patiently when the price has already eaten away over 70% of your capital is not a very wise idea all in all. You have to be proactive because otherwise you are set to turn into a bag-holder one day. And this day may have already come. In general, it is not a matter of luck or lack thereof. Rather, it is a matter of statistics and time.

Selling is such a bad idea that it is difficult to imagine that there is still people thinking of selling at this point, the only thing that can happen if you sell right now is that you will lose money and maybe I'm mistaken but investors are not putting their money at risk just to lose money, we want to earn more money and if that means that I need to hold for many years then that is what I will do.

yes, we are going to lose our money if we decide to sell right now. I think people which buy bitcoin at $18k-$20k will still hold their bitcoin for a long time because this is what they can do now unless they sell when the price is still at $15k. but no one will know that the price finally down into $6k-8k and they think that after the down of the price, it will increase higher but the reality, the price is going to down again and again.

I purchased my Bitcoins in 2012, when the exchange rates were around $10 per coin. I feel bad for your friend, but please tell him that he needs to be more patient. Bitcoin is just like any other investment. There is no guarantee that you will get a positive return. But if you hold on to your coins for at least 2-3 years, then the chances are that you will get a good profit out of it.
Right time for trading can be the low price and waiting, I hold my bitcoin which gives me a lot of money, but in trading you will have to trade for a lot of time like day trading does not make any sense, for me it is worst time to sell bitcoin when the market is down because bitcoin is really very reliable and safe investment so no need to sell, patience gives us strength to hold and wait for long time,. Holding or selling will completely your own decision so be careful don’t be like those who had lose but try to be like them who are earning high amount of money.

It is the same scenario for about 4 years ago when the bitcoin hit almost 2000 USD ATH on Jan 2014 and then it suddenly collapse during the downfall of MtGox exchange sabotage where the price drops to 800 USD in less than a month and the price continue to drop in a span of 2 years where it almost reach to 200 USD, many bitcoin investors are very sad on that time. It also worsen when Warren Bufett talks about bitcoin is a bubble. If you are FUDder at that time and not a true bitcoin believer you will end up of panic selling and regret afterwards when the price recover during the year 2016 to 2017 but it also take almost 3 years to wait.

That was the main reason why I am afraid of investing at a high price because I better know that although it was attractive to do such thing because of that high price Bitcoin have possessed, still its volatility is making its way to drop the price down making big investments during the peak season to drop in price making such investments to suffer into a great loss from their initial amount they have when they have invested at a high price. So better think that before investing that your money should go rising not into dropping because you are investing to earn profit not great losses. In that case, better hold for a while until you can get through regain your loss.

Well they have to keep holding and waiting patiently until the price go up highly again. They haven't many solutions, if they sell with this actual BTC rates, their losses would be really big. I think most of them studied the market well before investing, and have already their plans to keep holding for long term, even for several coming years.

They have the other way out - why not trying to learn more about the existing ICOs and invest in these projects? They will not lose anything - the only risk here is to pick a project.

Well they haven't many choices, they are almost forced to keep holding their Bitcoin until the price go up highly again, it can taking few years until BTC reach $20k again, but it is always better to wait than selling with low rate and making big losses.

I don't have experience myself, because I have not enough money to buy bitcoin. I think a lot of people have experience like your friends. Investing bitcoins is very risky, it takes experience and patience. You should convince your friends to hold their bitcoin, because your friends are now getting panic. Give references and descriptions to your friends, maybe in the future, bitcoin price will be more than $ 25000. Hold bitcoin until the expected price. Patience is the key to success in bitcoin investing.

I think that many when they invested at that price did not expect such a fall they believed that prices continue to increase, but now for them the best solution will be the expectations of a price increase

It is very likely that those that invested at 18000 dollars are pretty hopeless about their situation because I think that most of them were new investors and the reason for this is that I find very difficult to believe that there were people that were experimented with bitcoin and decided to invest at such point, one of my very own rules about when to invest is to never invest when bitcoin has reached an all time high and that is a rule that I have no intention of breaking.

Yes, you have point do not sell bitcoin unless it reaches more than the price you bought. Many of us had bought at peak price since it was already happen, our choice is to hold price of bitcoin this year will soaring high for sure. When their is down their is an up of price. Thinking of positive could also help and remain calm to hold our btc.

I also purchase when it was around 16K and it's really frustrating. Well the lesson is, you should just really invest an amount that you are willing to loose just in case bade things happen. But I'm sure it will recover soon.
I understand what you are feeling right now mate but i believe in your confidence that it will recover soon.I salute you on that its just means that you truly believe in bitcoins resitance to grow more and will reach its all time high in the future. This drop is just a preparation for the next bull run,so we must have enough patience to wait because things will never come that easy it needs more dedication and perseverance inorder to reach it.

The lower the bitcoin price value the better to invest because it has great potential to earn more profit when it gets high again.. he might as well hold his coins and wait and don't lose hope he can still have the chance to recover what he invest..knowing its condition is really unpredictable. Don't give up,  buy more coin if possible.

It's really a very tough time for them especially when seeing your investment shrinks to almost 80%. It needs time to recover all the loses but if they just really have the faith and courage to hodl their bitcoin, they will eventually recover in time.

Yes, I did. I bought Bitcoin when the price was $17k. I know how he feels. I also a little bit stressful. But now, I see the Bitcoin chart looks like will back again to the good path. I joined several Signal trading telegram group, they said if Bitcoin breaks the $9K, it's time to entering bull trends. I hope it was a good prediction.

Tough or not they made at that time call for buy and we saw that price went down, many were in downfall cuz of this but believe that they will recover there losses in time. We see that price is going slowly up and this may be good sign for everyone and if they have patience they will recover losses if not then they will try to cut some losses.

Well, we learn the hard way. This'll be a very good lesson if ever they decide to stay in crypto. Even if the price is going up, there's still a very long way to go and there also will be a lot of corrections before they can break even, so it will take a tremendous amount of patience for them to recover

All those who have invested their money into bitcoin at that time will be very much upset and that they will surely be hoping for an increase in the market value of the bitcoin and that too as soon as possible. However, the only thing which can help them at this very moment is none other than that of string holding of all their coins as they will suffer a huge loss if they go for selling of their coins.

Those investors who buy BTC at high prices, you need to be patient!

You can see that the price of BTC is now around $8,900, and many experts expect the BTC to return to more than $20,000 by the end of the year. Just wait and wait!

BTC will not let you down!

Those who invest at that time will hold their coin even longer because the price today is still a dump if you invest on its highest price but there's no need to worry because there are speculations that bitcoins will reach $60k dollar before 2018 ends.

Your friends are not careful and wise in taking action. if he buys a large amount of coins at that rate. he should have been careful in taking the buy or sell action he chose. if until then he had never cut loss until now. it's better to wait in comparison with cut loss. because he has less assets.

Holding will do bit might took long since the increase is just slowly moving, I hope that you at least buy some when dips happen too so you can earn or recover some of losses, anyway BTC still have a bright future ahead.

Things are not so easy a person is just not going to listen to you and your advise especially if they are losing thousands of dollars and your advise could be even ignored if you were the source that told to them to invest in bitcoin in the first place, besides when people begin to panic they stop being rational and instead they become very emotional, it is very likely that people like that already sold their bitcoins and accepted their losses.

It happens,  since there is no accurate rate of bitcoin prices is given.  That's why when you are investing on a bitcoin,  always put it on our mind that,  there is no always assurance to earn.  I strongly suggest for those people who are going to invest in bitcoin.  Make sure you just give at least 10% of your money to invest. Because,  we really cannot tell what's going to happen.

Have you talked to your friend since? I just wonder how such an experience changes one as a person.  From the nervousness of when he first bought and probably watching and watching the price, to then the weeks seeing the price plummet.

He should not feel bad, he took a chance and that takes guts.

They just have to hold their bitcoin and wait to recover,
I think there is no need to sell it at a low price specially if you don't need the money at the moment.
You just have to leave it and comeback when the price is back at the price that you want but I guess it would take some time.
