This is rather common for Stellar novices to learn how XLM can be acquired. Here I am committed to disseminate my knowledge on that in the form of Q&A.
- Q: is XLM mineable or forgeable coin ?
A: nope, it is neither mineable nor forgeable.
- Q: is XLM POS or POW?
A: XLM is neither of two. Behind XML is SCP (Stellar Consensus Protocol), a setting up for FBA (federated Byzantine agreement) .
- Q: if Stellar does not support mining how one can get XLM coins?
A: to get XLM you need to buy them on the market. Top volume exchanges are Binance, Poloniex and Bittrex
- Q:Any airdrop for XLM?
A: Stellar has already concluded a few giveaway rounds for BTC and XLM holders. They have funds to go further but when the next distribution (if any) will happen is not clear so far.
- Q:is there any way to get free XLM?
A: yes, 2 options known for me
1) register on Stellar official forum (https://www.mystellar.org/) . They are commited to pay*:
a) one-time 25 XLM to each newcomer
b) posting reward of 0.5XML/post
c) for 10 replies in any different tread
d) 140 XLM for any Stellar related project launched by you
e)30 XLM for Ad if your advertisement are considered as original
f) 20 XLM for copy-paste&spam Ad
d) etc.
2) get the inflation covering coins by joining one of the inflation pools available
- Q: what is inflation pool?
A: the built-in inflation mechanism of Stellar expands the currency supply by 1% annually. It distributes inflation coins to any destination with more than 0.05% of the votes. The distribution takes place on a weekly bases. Currently that threshold to get those coins is around 50.8 M XLM, which is out-of-reach for most individuals. To overcome this issue XLM holders combine their effords inside pools. But if the pool combines less the current threshold holders will not receive inflation cover.
- Q: should we deposit XLM to inflation pool to get inflations coin?
A: nope, no deposit, just set your inflation destination address to the pool you choose.
- Q: how to set inflation destination in Stellar Desktop Client?
A: click your account, go to Inflation Destination, put pool's address and click vote

Please, stop throwing FUD here. Pass by. That forum is alive. They pay on a monthly bases. Sometimes payments can be postponed , devs of Stellar are busy with routine of ICO's coming on their platform. P.S. It sounds like you are interested only in free stuff. Besides that one (which is last BTW) above Q&A have other info. Read it and be calm. Go better to bounty, most of them are delayed for a months if not years.

OK, in a few minutes I will show you the scrap of my wallet which received recently 24XLM for posting there. 25 XLM for registration got a bit earlier. Just should get how to attach image Besides, one of my wallets ( that holds a few hundreds K of XLM) has inflation covering on a weekly bases. But don't wanna share that wallet with n00b. look and STFU

I use XLMPool. It is distributing inflation lumens every week to my account. If you wanna use it set inflation destination to XLMPOOL address of GA3FUYFOPWZ25YXTCA73RK2UGONHCO27OHQRSGV3VCE67UEPEFEDCOPA P. S. I have extended info on inflation pools in above Q&A

I have extended info on inflation pools in above Q&A Can I do this from centarius, I mean, point to inflation destination using that wallet? Not sure, I guess it needs some modifications. For ease of configuration it is better to use the stellar desktop client.
