Hi,

Actually, I wanted to start mining using some hardware and play around etc. but since I read that GPUs are not good anymore because the electricity costs too much, I'm going to buy some cheap product. I'll calculate everything nicely and show it here, if you help me getting some numbers.

Question 1:
How much Bitcoins do you get per MH?

Question 2:
Are CPUs and GPUs are really that bad? Where do I get the best benefit from?

Question 3:
Which device do you suggest? I don't have a lot of money, really don't. Really max. is a 750$ blade. (too expensive?) So I can't buy any big 800$ mini server thing. I came across ASIC MINER Block Erupter USB, can you suggest these? I also liked them, because i thought about reinvesting into the mand buy more with the bitcoins I get. Which is easily done using such a modular "system". And if you like them, what USB Hub? I'd start with about 5.

Question 4:
What computer system do you recommend? Are there any old motherboards etc. which are mostly used? Otherwise, I'll just try out some of the stuff I have lying around, which is quite a lot. Atm I'd use a Raspberry PI with MinePeon.

Question 5:
A GUI Win7 or a small light weight unix console dist without GUI? Do they differ in watt consumption?

Question 6:
What should I look for when choosing a pool?

Question 7:
Where can I look up how much Bitcoins I get for 1 gh/s for one day (or any duration)? And where can I look up rates of exchange?

Thanks. If i have the information, I'll calculate everything to see if it's worth it. Then I also try to make some battery system so I buy the electricity at night (cheaper) also I'm planning on calculating some small solar panels. :)

I'm not hoping for getting 10k of $, it'f fun but it would be nice if I get something.

1. Depends what time frame you are talking about. But barely any. And difficulty is skyrocketing (www.bitcoindifficulty.com), so your gains are constantly getting smaller.

2. Yes. A CPU is a waste of time. You might be able to mine some bitcents with a GPU, but you'll spend more money on electricity then you end up mining.

3. The AsicMiner USB block erupter will never reach ROI. You'd be better off taking the money you want to spend on them and just buy bitcoins with it instead.

I'm not a miner, so I don't know how to answer your other questions, but IMHO it's best to leave mining to the professionals. It's an area where the casual user (i.e., yourself) will end up losing money no matter what you do. Best to leave mining to the professionals and just buy bitcoin directly.
