Good evening  Lol, I am guessing this is in response to the Wall Street Journal article about the prevalence of fraudulent ICOs today. I wouldn't be surprised if someone created a ERC20 contract with this same name and ended up raising a decent amount of money. But that is not about this business, for sure

Paypal recently announced its entry into the crypto space.
Starting from 2021, PayPal customers will be able to buy several different cryptocurrencies directly inside the app, or pay with crypto at any merchant in Paypal’s global network! 🌏

Doge Coin Is Now Supported At 1,800 ATM Machines In 45 US States 🇱🇷

The famous meme coin “Doge” was initially released in 2013. The cryptocurrency should be a payment system that is instant, fun, and free from traditional banking fees. 🙅💰

You Can Now Send Bitcoin With A Single Tweet 🐥 ₿

The global payment app Bottlepay just launched its integrated Bitcoin Social Media feature, which allows their users to make transactions to another user automatically, without fees, in a single Twitter post.

Due to its skyrocketing popularity, Bitcoin transaction fees have risen significantly since last year. And so, Bottlepay decided to circumvent those fees by using the Lightning Network, a second-layer solution that avoids network congestion by taking BTC transactions off-chain.

“Bottlepay’s social Bitcoin payments are a much-needed update on the clunky, outdated payment systems available up until now, and a leap towards smoother, easier transactions,” said Bottlepay CEO Mark Webster.

REKT is an internet slang for “wrecked,” meaning severely damaged or utterly destroyed and ruined.
In the crypto community, rekt often refers to someone who has experienced a heavy financial loss due to a wrong #trade or investment, or whose trading position has been liquidated.

Why You Can't Cheat On #Bitcoin ☝️

In order to create #Bitcoin, you need a so-called “miner” which receives BTC as a reward for completing “blocks” of verified transactions.

Let's say everybody is working on block 91, but one miner wants to alter a transaction in block 74 - all the computations for blocks 74-90 would have to be re-done.
And what’s even harder - that would have to be completed before everyone else in the Bitcoin network finished the one block (91) that they’re working on, which is almost impossible.

This simplified example demonstrates why a Blockchain, the underlying technology of any cryptocurrency, is absolutely tamper-proof. Transactions are immutable and transparently recorded on the Blockchain with a time stamp.

The #crypto world is decentralized and transparent - replacing the need to trust a central authority or system!

Bitcoin Owner Has Made Peace With Potential $385 Million Loss 😨💸

German programmer Stefan Thomas made headlines earlier this year after he lost the password to his hard drive and therefore access to 7.002 Bitcoins. The hard drive was an #IronKey device which gives owners 10 chances to guess their password before encrypting the contents.

Thomas now lives in San Francisco and recently told KGO-TV in an interview that time heals wounds and he had made peace with his potential loss.

The story of Laszlo Hanyecz might have you shook. 😨
Back in the day when you could still mine Bitcoin with just your computer and the price per BTC was $0.004, there was really no market to sell bitcoins on and nothing to do with them.

Olaf Carlson-Wee was a student at the Vassar College in New York when he wrote the founders of Coinbase an “annoyingly long” cold email in 2012, including his thesis about Bitcoin.

Due to his excitement for Bitcoin, he wanted to work in the industry more than anything else and applied for any open job position available at Coinbase.

After graduating from college, he was invited for an in-person meeting at Coinbase’s headquarters in San Francisco and finally became part of their customer support!

What makes the story so interesting is that he chose to be paid in Bitcoin with a starting salary of $50,000! 💰
He worked for the company for three years, eventually becoming Coinbase’s head of risk.

It is unclear how much Bitcoin Carlson-Wee owns, but the price per Bitcoin was at $13 before spiking to more than $1,100 when he started working at Coinbase.
Bitcoin is now valued at $57.000 which makes him at least a multi millionaire.

The Bitcoin network consumes about 113.89 TWh/yr in total while the banking system does not directly report electricity consumption data, but Galaxy Digital claims the banking system uses approximately 263 TWh of energy each year, which is more than 2x that of the bitcoin network.
In comparison, the energy footprint of "always-on" electrical devices in American households is 12.1x that of the bitcoin network.

This Man Threw Away $480.000.000 😱

James Howell, the 35-year-old IT engineer from Newport made headlines when he once again tried to convince local authorities to search for his hard drive which he accidentally threw away while he was cleaning his office in 2013. 🗑

He was mining Bitcoins since 2009 and according to Mr Howells, 7500 Bitcoins were stored on this hard drive, which at its peak would be worth $480 million! 🤯

He is confident that he can recover the Bitcoins even after all these years - but so far the Newport City Council has refused to let him search the landfill site he believes contains his hard drive.

The IT engineer even offered to donate 25% of his lost Bitcoins to the city, but so far to no avail.

That’s a tough lesson to be taught - so be careful where you store your hard drives and keys! ☝️ There’s no way to recover them.

On Monday, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)🇳🇬 announced to work with the blockchain payments startup Bitt Inc., to launch the African nation’s eNaira digital currency later this year, according to Coindesk.

As stated in the official press release by the CBN - the digital currency also known as CBDC, will ease cross-border trade, promote financial inclusion and speed up remittances. CBDC could also be used to improve monetary policy in the inflation-prone country.

Barbados-based Bitt, is a Medici Ventures-backed company with a history of CBDC contracts.
But Nigeria is Africa’s largest economy - will this be a big challenge for Bitt Inc. ?

The “delegation” feature allows users to lend others their voting power ⚡️.
For example: If someone holds APX tokens in their account wallet, but isn’t very active with the account, not sharing content, commenting or upvoting - they could “delegate” their staked / “powered up ⬆️” APX tokens to another account.

The receiving account would be able to vote on content with much more voting power, thus distributing more APX tokens and having more influence over the reward distribution.
The receiving account would therefore be able to use the voting power and earn more in return 💰, but would not be able to withdraw or send the delegated tokens ☝️The person on the delegating end can also enter period and decide when the delegation should be removed and automatically return back to the owner account!

APPICS voting power represents APPICS tokens (APX), which reflects the level of influence that an account has over the rewards distribution compared to the rest of the network.

When a user chooses to purchase APX tokens and use them as voting power on the APPICS platform, they can choose to “power up ⬆️” their liquid balance, turning them into APPICS voting power, thus increasing the weight of their vote.
❌APPICS power (locked APX tokens) cannot be transferred or traded directly, but the account owner has the option to unlock 🔓and convert it back to liquid APPICS (APX) tokens in weekly payments through the feature “power down⬇️”.

As the APPICS power decreases, the account also loses voting power proportionally to the amount of tokens withdrawn ☝️

To conclude: the more APX tokens you own (either earned or bought) the higher the power of your vote and influence in the network.

Since users have limited voting power each day, we recommend to vote with less than 50% for most content and only choose to reward high quality posts with more than 50% voting power. ⚡️

☝️ Keep in mind that your voting power depends on the amount of APX tokens in your wallet. The more APX and the more voting power you have, the higher the weight of your vote!
So if you have a lot of voting power and vote with just 10%, you can still assign much more rewards to a post than someone with little voting power who votes with 100%.

Do I have to create a new account when joining the testnet? 🤔
➡️ In order to get on the current test-net you need a new account, which will be your “tester” account on the new blockchain.
Once we transition to the mainnet then you will have to register again.☝️ You can choose to register with your previous username or a different username for testing purposes.

All rewards will be distributed 30 days after the content was published. You will receive them directly in your integrated APPICS wallet

8️⃣ I am new to APPICS - Why do I receive an error message when trying to vote?🧐
In order to upvote content, your voting power must be positive which means you need at least 1 APX in your wallet. When you haven’t earned any tokens yet, you can either buy APX with Bitcoin on Probit.com, ask a friend for a delegation or start posting and wait 30 days until you receive your first rewards.

How to send and delegate APX Tokens within the app? 🧐
On APPICS, you can instantly send and delegate APX Tokens to another user. Learn how by following the steps below ⬇️

What’s Delegation? 🤔

⚜️On APPICS, delegation means that you can lend your APX power to another person, so in case you’re not very active on the APP, your tokens aren’t just sitting in your account, but are used as voting power to vote on content and participate in the distribution of rewards.

⚜️Unlike the feature to send tokens, the person cannot transfer the delegated tokens, but only use them as voting power ⚡️and you as the owner can choose to subtract or un-delegate the tokens at any time.
