no instamine or premine. was announced in cryptsy chat right when ann post went up on cryptocointalk.. maybe 10 mins later i posted it over here on btc-e

the had been release rumors of this coin for days . i think some asic were just ready to hop on at a split second notice.

that does not explain 10 mins 1720 blocks. According to spec it should be 10 blocks for 10 mins.

either premine, or massive instamine.

also "100 Tekcoin Initial reward" what's that mean?

Title: Re: old thread, moved
Post by: jdebunt on September 07, 2013, 06:56:49 AM
another coin we don't need which won't have any future whatsoever.

Nothing to see here people, move along

Title: Re: old thread, moved
Post by: sam53 on September 07, 2013, 06:58:43 AM
clearly massive instamine at least, even now (at block 1759) the actual block time is less than 20 sec instead of the designed 1 min.

Title: Re: old thread, moved
Post by: thundertoe on September 07, 2013, 07:03:57 AM

The coin has been talked about for about a week in cryptsy chat i suspect some good size asic were ready to go at release.. i dont even have an asic to instamine with if i wanted to.

yes starting diff was low, it didnt stay that way long the asics hopped on right at release. will take some time for diff to balance out.

Title: Re: old thread, moved
Post by: sam53 on September 07, 2013, 07:07:41 AM
not accusing dev do instamining, just state the fact that instamine happened here, with blockexplorer we'll see the details. Many people have big asics for sha256, this is the problem of sha256 coins.

Solomining with bfgminer, getting the following error:

Code:
blktmpl error: Unrecognized block version, and not allowed to reduce or force it

Qu'est-ce que c'est?

Title: Re: old thread, moved
Post by: thundertoe on September 07, 2013, 07:27:30 AM
true. hopefully it plays out ok. With the insta asic hammering in retrospect, this coin may have benefited from a increased starting diff.

1850 blocks in 105 minutes? A block every 3.4 seconds if launched when the post says it did.

looks like you guys put some good work into this, not the same old shit at least :)

I'm mining!

p.s. for windows users you do not need to make a shortcut with -server. When I did this I couldn't solo mine, only worked when I ran it from the main qt.exe

The difficulty jumped a lot in the first minutes. For most users this makes no sense without a pool. Also the design of the UI is horrible. It looks like a 10 year old did it.

OK, Announcement at Cryptocointalk was 10:17pm PST. It's now roughly four hours later and we're on block 2067. 240 minutes or 14,400 seconds divided by 2067, that's roughly seven seconds per block.

The blockchain will tell the real story.

Incoming update today sounds like a dual update with one having default type wallet design.
It looks like the original release wallet is looking for a custom font, and then defaults back hence the stock tiny lettering.

It's so funny, the community get's all pissy, if there's a premine on a new coin, yet, that SAME community, will not create a pool, for a coin that doesn't offer a bounty, becase there was no premine ::)

for starters...
The formatting of this thing makes me wonder what the code looks like.

Can anyone help a brother out with a config file? My dumbass cant get my miner to connect :'(

Title: Re: old thread, moved
Post by: spoid on September 11, 2013, 09:06:59 PM
Code:
listen=1
daemon=1
server=1
rpcuser=user
rpcpassword=pass
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
addnode=75.111.65.232
addnode=184.155.117.207

change user and pass if you feel like it. if your miner is not the same computer as the wallet, you will have to add an rpcallowip accordingly.

bfgminer will connect a jalapeno like this:

bfgminer -o localhost:18514 -u user -p pass --disable-gpu

and block erupters like this:

bfgminer -o localhost:18514 -u user -p pass --disable-gpu -S all

Title: Re: old thread, moved
Post by: jdkackley on September 11, 2013, 10:14:52 PM
I think thats where I screw up. My eruptors are not the same computer as my wallet, if I'm reading that right. For reasons I cant figure out, I just cant get TEK to connect. I can solo mine OSC no problem.

Here is my OSC bat file.

bfgminer.exe -o http://127.0.0.1:80 -u user -p 12345 -G -S all --icarus-options 115200:1:1 --icarus-timing 3.0=100

And my OSC confg file

rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcport=80
rpcuser=user

rpcpassword=12345
server=1
gen=0

But if I try to plug in the different numbers for TEK or even TIGER she a no work!

I can't sync shit. I'm already using:
addnode= 75.111.65.232
addnode=184.155.117.207

Any more nodes?

edit: It's moving along, thanks JD. Guess that space in my addnode didn't help either ;D

Spoke too soon. It never did sync. I even deleted files in my my appdata to restart downloading the blockchain; nothing. It moved along down to less than 900 blocks then jumped back to 5k plus. Something fucked up here when the wallet can't even sync.

Alright, finally all in sync and solo coins are maturing.

thats the block spacing for the pos blocks to mint once you become eligible. you do not have any eligible coins yet they are not aged enough once they do then you can start minting stake blocks at the 10 min block time.

Working as intended.

You shouldn't.

Of course if you really wanted it to go somewhere and not just complain, you could try doing something. These things cost time and money to get done, feel free to make them happen yourself.

Pay a bounty for a crawler or a pool email some exchanges make a website.  Or don't.

Im not complaining. But the DEV should be the one who should do all of this. Not us. If your too lazy to get services for this coin then why the fuck make it in the first place?

Knowing why the coin was made what its use is and so forth, then many can decide on to place BTC into it or even to put on sites and exchange sites to grow. Seems like you don't really care for the coin much other than yourself by the looks of it.

Would of been nice to know what you have planned for the coin or even why you bothered to make it.

mining like a boss. Now all this coin needs is exchange.

I vote for btc-e :)

Title: Re: old thread, moved
Post by: erk on September 23, 2013, 02:26:13 AM
It's an unusual coin with only one coin per block, I guess you always know how many coins are in circulation.

Not sure if it will get picked up by an exchange, needs to have a quorum of regular miners. etc.

Might be worth chatting to coinex.pw they do a few of the SHA256 alt-coins.

BTW. is the chain forked? I can only see about 18678 blocks of the supposed 24642

Can I have an IP for someone that's on the correct chain please?

All the ones in this thread so far are not helping atm.

I tried 75.111.65.232 it just gives connection timeout in the debug.log no problem pinging 75.111.65.232

Perhaps it's hit a connection limit or something?

i would back up your wallet .dat then wipe the files and instal and start with a fresh one of the ugly gui
 let it sych all the way you shoudnt need a .conf or addnodes. then you can swap you the qt for clean if you want and maybe trya wallet.dat copy pasta

maybe a repairwallet in the console at some point

Done that a few times, still only hits the 18k block count and stops. I am using the version I compiled from the github source about a week ago. v0.1.3.0-g99999-TEK

I just downloaded the source again and compiled it, deleted the chain etc. and it speeds along until about height=18705 then starts spouting continuous messages about ORPHAN BLOCK and looses the plot.

wipe/backup and start with this

 https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B49exKIsGBn5eEFHWVZJazlPVTA/edit

after it sychs then swap out the qt file for the new one

Can't, I am running Linux and Mac not windows. Have to compile from source.

I used the one from https://github.com/maxxine/tekcoin

If I force peer with connect= commands in the conf, and only specify peers with the large block chain, the debug.log fills up with:

ERROR: CheckBlock() : bad block signature
ERROR: ProcessBlock() : CheckBlock FAILED

That looks like a problem.

If the only platform that gets the right block chain is windows then that is a major problem which requires urgent attention, as pools and exchanges tend to run linux back-ends.

mining on tek.dsync.net and all is fine...

If ur solomining, make sure, ur at correct blockchain. There was bad blockchain few days back, created by linux tekcoind wallets. To be sure, compare your blockcount to blockount on pool.

I just started getting a runtime error in my wallet today that won't allow me to open it.

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

In the wallet at the bottom I see:
EXCEPTION: St13runtime_error
ReserveKeyFromKeyPool(): read failed
C:\Users\Name\Desktop\TEK\tekcoin-qt.exe in ThreadStakeMinter()

I also tried to move my wallet.dat to another machine and ended up with the same error.

Ideas?

EDIT:  FIXED with --salvagewallet

Title: Re: old thread, moved
Post by: thundertoe on October 14, 2013, 04:27:14 PM
Services can be bought with bounties sure.  Is there something that seems worthwhile or people want?
Some services are out of the question until TEKcoin is trading on an exchange vendors wont be able to really use it.
However something like blackjack or a satoshi dice betting site is very doable.
TEKcoin is setup atm to be on a sha-256 multipool service with other new sah coins as soon as any of them hit the market.

Today i am working on some web development ideas, and a TEKcoin project that i hope to be able to announce soon.

In short.. Let me know what services are desired or would help TEKcoin out and then we can go after them.

i can't setup tekcoin on linux no matter what i try.  i tired to copy the db from windows which is correct, but the databases must be mismatched?  This is simply an issue of compiling with a different dependency?

*edit* I can't even sync my windows wallet and my linux wallet directly.  They connect as peers, but data is refusing to transfer.  is the source code going to be update do fix this problem any time soon?  This is stupid, this problem has been on going for far to long.  The fork is almost 42000 blocks now!

I pulled the newest code of tekcoind, and I kept getting cycled into clients with the wrong block chain (and matching version clients) when building on Linux.  Is there anyway to get a code update that updates the client version, and that they can detect a client that is on this corrupted block chain and prevent them from communicating with newer clients?  I'd be nice to download the block chain on a Linux (server) without having to get 2xxxx blocks from windows and moving it.  I even tried building from the posted source code, and no change.
