Title: Case for ASCIMiner Blades w/Backplane?
Post by: xstr8guy on September 07, 2013, 05:50:18 AM
Is anyone making these?  Spotswood (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=269941.0) perhaps?  Does anyone else have an interest in a case of some kind?

I need mechanical drawings of the backplane and hashing boards.  I've sent PMs and emails....

Thanks Rich!  I'll keep checking back to see if you figure out a solution.  Hopefully enough people are interested to make this worth your while.

Each blade is secured to the tray via a custom plastic bracket.  The beam that the brackets and fans are attached to could be mounted on the opposite side.

More info as soon as I get my hands on a backplane and build a prototype (sometime next week).

Looks interesting.
Can this be stacked or mounted in a rack?

Absolutely (with two more posts).

In fact, all of my cases are stackable e.g.:

Rich, I emailed the pics of the power supply with the tape measure on the board. Let me know if you need anything else. If you need a back plane, I might be able to send you mine with the power supply to use as a reference.

I am definitely interested in one, just let me know the proper way to set that up.

Would it be possible to also allow for a fan setup on the other side, in addition, to run a push/pull across the boards, or is that just overkill unless the box is enclosed?

The prototype is done.

EDIT: Updated pics:

As pictured, the case is $90.  Subtract $12.50 if you only want one support beam and another $18 if you don't want the twelve metal tabs to attach fans to the case.

I'll create a For Sale thread in a couple of days.  In the mean time, feel free to PM if you are interested.

Yes, this can be made stackable.  I just need a measurement of the total height of the PSU with the power cord.

Beautiful Job!!

<geek-out-mode>
I'm really looking forward to taking delivery of two BitFury cases next week from Spotswood. It's an anticipatory feeling of "This rig won't be complete without a Spotswood Case to keep it together". I just love the simplicity of these case designs. Beautiful stuff indeed.

I would love to place a reservation for one unit for my mining operation. Also probably one regular Mining Tray. I want all the extra fixings enough tabs for fans on both sides of the asicminer also.

Also thinking of ordering miner bay but with space for hard drive trays and hard drive bays. i want all the hard drive bays to be 5.25" so i  can use hard drive docks on them. want to use this for my data recovery / litecoin mining / mining proxy server rig.

Thanks,

Also, would you consider doing an acrylic or plexiglass casing for the asicminer? with fan cutouts.

from the bottom of back plane to clear the psu and leave room for the cord is 11.5inches on mine

Can verify 11.5, but 12 just to be on the safe side as someone might use a thicker cord and it doesn't bend as much.
