Title: Exclusive: Huntkeys 80 PLUS Platinum "FX500SE" power supply in Europe, reviewed
Post by: Behemot on September 08, 2013, 03:13:26 PM
I got sample of this new power supply, it seems that I am still the only one who got one to get reviwed. You can read about it what is also my first fully-english review: http://diit.cz/clanek/huntkey-fx500se-5. Enjoy!

P. S.: I am currently negotiating the neccessary changes to make this product trully "creme de la creme". If anybody from Europe would be interested in having this distributed in his country, I am also seeking funding and cooperation so feel free to PM me.

Good review, but looks like a terrible PSU.  It would need to be very cheap for me to consider one.

Actually, it has some glitches, but not many on the functional side of things and most of it is really easily correctable.

Everything else from high-end I had in my hands so far was PoS from the base, just glared to make it look good. Just reviewed Fortron Aurum which has not-functional protections and is full of crap capacitors, Be Quiet! L8 the same, Fractal Design Tesla is overpriced (and full of crap caps), Newton does not excell as well.

It's sad but chinese manufacturer with more or less first high-end product can stick anybody else into pocket just now, and I already negotiated conditions for further improvements.

I have a few really cheap OCZ PSU (OCZ-CXS500W) which although probably not the best PSUs, they've been severely reliable for me.  I have two here, and both ran GPU mining rigs at very high loads for over a year - they were both pulling nearly 500W at the mains.  They've been solid, and they're very quiet, I barely hear them even sitting beside me on the desk.

They're now about to come back to life running some ASICMiner Blades.  Not bad for £30 PSUs from some Chinese OEM with OCZ labels stuck on them.

CoreXStream burned when I tried overload protections, it has none. Together with ModXStream, both are cheap PoS full of crap capacitors. If you'll keep it go any longer on high load, the probability of the caps vomiting their insides out rise like rocket to the space.
