Title: Children Get a Lesson in Government Regulation
Post by: Anonymous on July 16, 2011, 02:31:31 AM
http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_ODD_LEMONADE_STAND_SHUT_DOWN?SITE=NCWIN&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT

Silly girls, starting a business without permission, acting like they have the right to trade their parent's gifts as they please. They should know it isn't theirs but a privilege granted by their government.

I just hope those cops knocked some teeth out of those deadbeat scofflaws...and we can only pray that child protective services takes them away from their parents, who obviously led them down this path of twisted criminal behavior.

Ridiculous, my Dad had me run a lemonade stand when I was little to teach me about business and self reliance.  He would have been very angry with me if I told him my business needed a lawyer too!

Huh. Wonder why YoYo hasn't showed up to defend this one... He seems pretty adamant that the market needs strict controls.

We know what he's going to say anyways. He's going to say that the plebs are too dumb to assess the risks associated with buying a drink from kids. Also, since kids are even dumber than the plebs, they are likely to use rat poison instead of sugar, thereby inflicting an ever increasing burden on our beloved socialized medical system.

This makes me want to go sell some stuff on public property, and secretly record it, and show what happens, but i am a pussy and will do no such thing  ;)

This is ridiculous. As a kid I sold lemonade on the side of the street outside my house in Asia and no police came to shut me down. The hell is wrong with America?!

Bad form.
That looks like overreaching to me. I've had a ton of businesses when I was a kid, and not once been in trouble over it.
To be honest I'm a bit worried about the US. Seems like there's a lot of crap going on there right now.

These laws are in place to stop unscrupulous dealers and suchlike but this is just gross mis-application of them, goddamn.

Hey, you don't know what those kids are putting in their lemonade!

They could be using cocaine instead of sugar!

Think of the Childre- Wait, that one doesn't work here.

A bit of both. That's bad governing for sure. No argument from me. It's not like they were selling prescription drugs or something.

Call it a yard sale and do it entirely on your own property.  Have ice, lemons, water, sugar and cups for sale individually.  If someone buys em all, put them together properly for free.  If the cops get to invasive, let the customer put the items together.

Heh, just like the Technicality the USA supposedly uses to claim that their Ships dont carry "Nuclear Weapons" ?

Might be an urban legend, Apparently, they just carry "Components".   Until they are "assembled" prior to use, no "Weapons" actually exist.

Whats good for the goose..  ;)

I don't know if yard sales are allowed either

I sold counterfeit lunch passes in High School, worked great till my jr year, I had copied mine but changed the numbers.  Next year it was popular, and since I never had a problem, didn't bother to change the numbers, accidentally dropped my sheet, and a friend found it, was un aware of my activities and turned in the paper.  Then they inspected the whole football team's ID cards for fake passes.  I was banned from going off campus for lunch for the rest of my senior year, but since I was 18 they couldn't enforce it, My parents had signed a form that I could write my own absence notes.

Being under 18, those girls really can't be prosecuted for punching the cops in the nuts. New business skill parents should teach?
