Title: Stupid Question but that's why I'm a Newbie - Internet Speed?
Post by: zpply on September 11, 2013, 04:49:01 PM
Does your internet speed also determine how fast you can mine? I'm trying to setup a mac mini with ANKER HSB hub and Block Erupters - Do I need to upgrade my internet speeds, is there a minimum?

Unless you are on dial up and planning a large usb farm the short answer is no you will probably be fine.

The lower you have your difficulty set the more data you will transfer as you solve shares faster.  If that becomes an issue with remaining connected consistently to a pool you can increase difficulty with increased Hashing power to slow the communication down as it takes longer to solve at higher difficulty meaning sending less info to the pool as often.

Overall you can slow down a network with a LOT of Hashing power but for most with a basic broadband connection it is fine.

Can you define 'large' USB farm - is that over/under 50?
