Title: What will the winners look like in the next 5 years?
Post by: lopez cryptomania on February 12, 2018, 08:08:05 PM
It's between speed vs. decentralization. Which coin will be adopted by most? Many say it's in the top 20 already we have still decided what we're going to use as THE PROTOCOL coin. Educated opinions welcomed.

I think privacy coins will be big in the next couple years. With the U.S. Government changing the tax laws and other countries around the world trying to crack down on crypto, a way to hide what you're doing with them will help tremendously.

I think so as well but those who are investing in privacy coins should also invest in coins which are very decentralized, fast and traceable because tracing is also beneficial.

Five years is long for crypto...better, faster, meaner coins will likely come out between now and then. ;)

For now...
BTC is the king...unless major hack happens, it will likely remain king as wealth holder, like gold...not your daily spending cash.
XMR seems to be secure as the king of anon coins.
ETH, NEO, QTUM will likely grow as the major platforms.
ICX, ARK (if they can deliver) will probably be huge in integrating various platforms.

Then there will be the top for each application/category; payment, medical, credit, identification, etc., etc.

Between speed (centralization) and decentralization, i think it is speed who is going to win. But if decentralization is fast enough, maybe decentralization will be adopted because of the security. Speed is very important as we may also see a very big increase of users and transactions. If the speed is not fast enough, it will be impractical and unusable. Who want to wait 10 or more minutes to pay a bill at a restaurant or at a supermarket?

Privacy coins for sure, but Ethereum is developing fast. I think people will use Ethereum everyday first.
Other coins with serious development will come on the top.

It's quite possible that winners in 5 years weren't even born yet. But if I had to choose from existing players, then ltc, eth, neo, nano and envion would be my bets.

I think EOS, DIM, NEO as these are platforms

OMG - PPT - Pillar due to what they will do for the new age.

Agree that adoption will be the main aspect for success in five years. By that time, alts without success in that area, and all the so-called utility tokens that will never be used, will slowly begin to fade. And this is why the ones like Bitcoin will succeed where others struggle, the one crypto that is gaining adoption and intended use, even with all the FUD going on. If alts like Litecoin also succeed in getting their own network of accepting merchants, then they stand a chance too (and I believe Monero will be one of the few).

I'm on the same wave. Investing now in privacy coins coins is one of the best choices for our money.

Others are VR and Gambling projects.

Bitcoin and Eth will be king.  Monero will most likely crash due to major competition.  Ripple will also crash its trash, centralized, and not a real crypto.

So, Do we only expect the transaction speed and the decentralization of cryptocurrency become the main concern? As far as I know, the transaction speed and decentralization think become the common thing right now.

How every project already implemented scalability solution and decentralization through use various method. But real implementation from blockchain to our life becomes the primary concern soon.

All I can see is Monero and ethereum is the next big thing although there are new coins coming in which tries to be as decentralized as possible with a very good speed, the next big thing, in my opinion, is yet to come or just around the corner waiting to get launch.

Privacy was a big trend for 2017, 2018 will be about scaling and speed. I dont know what comes beyond that, maybe AR/VR or AI type projects? Or decentralized governance? Who knows

I think both. Speed and decentralization with nodes system which is basically compromise between the two. Similar to NEO, Vechain. Or coins that are combination of dag and blockchain.

If a transaction use is created for Bitcoin, for example you need to use some btc to power a smart contract platform built on top of Bitcoin, I think it will not only remain number one but pull ahead by quit a bit.

Those are two key components vying for tops in the industry but you overlooked a big feature which is being implemented right now and that is:privacy. Privacy coins are no laughing matter and in fact occupy 3 spots in the top 25. The way regulations and governments are trending I wouldn't be surprised if that number increased to 5-6 by years end which would give them the most amount of coins in the top 25 to a given section.

Bitcoin has lead the market for more than five years, though there are many altcoins out there.
Eth has thrived during the past few years, however 1/10 of bitcoins.
As long as bitcoin has its major forks more than other altcoins, bitcoin will still be the king

I think bitcoin will be still one and only coin ruling markets. On the other hand I think we will see whole new chains and coins and at least 1 maybe even 2 of them will be in top 5 list for sure..

Great point I agree with this comment I believe that this will be a big part of the market now and especially as we go forward with regulation. Thanks for mentioning this and we will see how this all plays out and which coins win but these will def. always have appeal in the decentralized world for many reasons.

The winner in the next 5 years is holder and people who panic at crash will regret much. The winner for next 5 years will buy beautifull house and high end car like lambo or ferrari. If you only put 10% of your saving or if you have non use money arround $10k for 5 year in the right project it will probably worth million if the crypto bubble does not burst.

Absolutely agree with this.

This is why I've been looking at privacy coins all this time. I believe that they are one of the most useful coins to one at this time where everyone is trying to get a piece of information on everyone else. Blocking tainted coins is probably going to become a thing soon, and people will start tracking bitcoin transactions to see what you spend your BTC on.

Privacy coins fix that, essentially. It's really a battle between Monero ZCash and Dash so far. IOTA promised some anonymous updates in the future and it'll be interesting to see them as well.

I would pick the classics (BTC & ETH), strongly believing in MetCalfe's Law.
Although I'd say that Neo with all that is happening has tremendous potential to rise immensly in 2018. We will see.

I think it's more complex than that. There isn't one all-purpose coin that can be used for everything. For examples in the top 5, ETH and XRP are completely different projects with completely different use cases.
I do think a fast payments coin will be big, very probably XRP the winner. At least one smart contract coin will be big, probably ETH. But there are way more uses and coins to suit them - IoT for example will likely have really taken off by then, so Iota or a competitor. DAG projects such as Raiblocks/Nano could well be big, Hashgraph might be viable, and on and on.

It will be in Bitcoin. Speed will not be a problem after lightning network. It's also the most decentralized coin.
Ethereum, Neo, Waves and similar platforms will be winners. Most of other altcoins will die if they have no real life use.

Good vision but do you really think crypto currency can exist until 5 years from now? I doubt that.

Yes, I think crypto will still exist in 5 years, and be much bigger than it is today. The question is how long fiat can last ;p

Most of today's winners will not be existent in 5 years. I also think that the blockchain will disappear and be replaced with a new innovative solution like DAG or similar.

In my opinion, it is better to make your own research and trust your guts.

The most of the privacy coins are undervalued right now.

The best opportunity is to find a privacy-related project with a low total supply (less than 100M), that way the price will be increasing much faster.

I recently found one project called Ethereum Meta, it is related to anonymity and untraceable transaction. They have a very interesting project to build the Anonymous E-Market Place.

They are on Pre-ICO stage right now, you can check their website: https://ethermeta.com/
Or even better go through their Bitcointalk thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2659058.0

When it comes to scalability and speed Marinecoin could be very strong in the near future. They are at the beginning with their ICO. Check here: https://marineco.in/ico
Also the ICO is free, you only have to help with promotion.
Definetely a coin to watch and hodl in 2018.

Probably not privacy coins. If we want mainstream attention, of course we do, then nobody will care for privacy. Just the profit.
I feel ETH will be huge. Yea. Staking coming soon and stuff like that.

well explained ,
also i can see many big projection of blockchain tech are coming like fusion , wanchain etc .
tech of fusion is much better than many top coins , so no doubt in less than 1 year it will be in top 50 coins .

Of course, crypto-currencies are here to stay. It's like the beginning phase of internet. Some have doubts like you, some already adopted the technology. It's the new money, you can't change the evolution. You need to adapt it as fast as you can.

Governments are starting to crack down on the wild west of cryptoland. This means privacy focused coins are going to big, just like mcafee said in a tweet. Pick the low market privacy coins like XSPEC and DeepOnion for big potential gains, they will be up there with monero and verge soon enough.

There are lots of good coins out there but the only ones to break through will be those that have the backing of major corporations - like google, Microsoft, eBay, Apple etc. Investing in those must be the backbone to any cryptocurrency portfolio.

Yes, I agree. Privacy coins like Verge (XVG) will be more important in the future, and not only for illegal use. Some of them have also a very fat transaction speed and low transaction fees. I really think that the best of them will have a much higher market cap then today in a few years.

I would bet for ETH.  Eth has a big place in the marketplace for the next couple of years because they are already developed for a smart contract requirement. Deploying a project through smart contract under ETH will be very beneficial as it's going to facilitate correction with regards to human error and human dishonesty.

In order for some coins to be accepted by the whole world, they will have to make it centralized, and this is already a matter of whether it will destroy the technology itself and how this will affect other coins. But this is the only way out so that the crypto-currencies do not disappear at all, each technology needs development otherwise stagnation is possible.

NEO and ETH are still the most accepted coin in the future. The current market trend is on ETH, the most potential coin in the future and widely accepted.
