Title: How to power 6 pin riser?
Post by: BitcfinderNot on February 15, 2018, 02:23:22 PM
I have a 6 pins riser.
From my extra CPU (Corsair RM750x) goes to cables (6(2) and a 8 pin) to the GPU (GTX 1080 ti turbo)
How could I Power the riser. One cable is 8 pin(one pin seems empty). Could I put this end in the PSU and the other end 6(2) in the 6 pin riser?

Many thanx for any advise.

All of my risers have the 6-pin slot soldered in the board, but they’ve come with the adapters for SATA power.  I run 10 GPUs with powered risers but never more than 2 risers per SATA cable.  Did yours not come with this kind of adapter?

This guy is doing it right. All of the people that claim the SATA connections will melt try to run too many on a single psu chain. If you limit yourself to 2 sata riser connections per PSU cable run you will be fine.

Yes, you can do your scheme, it's okay with one hole empty. or else, you can buy SATA to 6 Pins connector and use it for powering your riser. You can keep your rig safe (when you are using SATA) to keep limited SATA power likes a few comment above me.
