Title: How do you handle pain?
Post by: vitalik_little55 on February 15, 2018, 06:37:19 PM
I am one of many who seems to have chronic pain. I refuse to take painkillers because of what they can do to my body.
I am basically stuck using ice and heat. I don't have a bathtub so I don't have the option to use things like Epsom salt.
My pain is in my lower back, shoulders, and neck.

What do you do to handle pain?

The pain would suddenly subside depending on to how extent the pain was created. The pain itself is the antonyms of heavenly like feelings or the destruction of the natural living. Pain could handle with little tips and searchable through search engines on how to take care the body. Small pains dubside with a safety precautions while higher pain subside through major operations.

I think you should always massage the area. You should go to the place of pain by pressing the acupuncture points. And you should take medicine to reduce the headache faster. Wish you sick soon.

It depends on the pain that I have at that moment. If it is bearable I try not to think about. I read. Surf the internet. Play video games. Do activities that will keep my mind off of it. But if it is unbearable I shout, I cry, I break things(that are not that expensive) I let it all out.

Do you sit around all day or don't move much? You should look into exercise if your back/neck/shoulders are giving you trouble. And you shouldn't wait with that either, since it gets progressively worse over time.

It depends on the kind of pain.  I'm a hockey player so I tend to fight through pain if necessary.  I go to the gym on non-game days, and after lifting I use foam rollers, do some stretching, and sometimes hang upside down for a bit to improve circulation even further.

These kinds of activities have alleviated most forms of acute pain I've experienced.

Once I had a back pain because of a nerve swelling. I wasn't able to move, so I had to visit the hospital and get proper medication. It took me a month to recover. I also had a physical therapy to really recover from it. I think that when we experience a lot of physical pain, we do not just have to settle with a hot compress and over the counter meds, but we have to really visit a specialist to deal with our pains and prescribe meds to take. Now, I am doing Yoga and it really helps me a lot in improving my back pain and general posture.

I think it's important first to find out what causes the pain. So it is best to seek for a doctor's help. If you already know it is chronic pain, routine stretching helps. Warm compress is also effective.

I personally do not handle some kind of pain with pain killer(especially synthetic pain killer).

I think some pains are our bodies way of telling us something is wrong in our bodies. In my opinion, suppressing the pain without adequately treating the cause can be dangerous
I try to eat more healthy, drink lots of warm water, exercise(doing house chores alternatively), and adopt a healthy lifestyle... If the pain doesn't go away, I'll then use painkiller(still not synthetic). There are lots of natural pain killers around. Maybe Googling will help.

yeah needs doctors prescriptions because the long you use Pain reliever and the dosage you take is getting High as time passes by.
so better find another option than Pain Killers as we need to use this only in times when we needed it most and not just because when our body aching.

Can ya tell why do you have the pain though? Like spondylitis or some sort of that? I used to live a sedentary life and I also used to get such pain in tremendous amount and what worked for me is walking 30 mins a day for a week or so. Try to exercise and handle it slowly. You will surely see the results! I hope you recover from it brother :)

I think there are a lot of aches that should be advised by a doctor if they do not work well at home We are a lot of people who do not care about pain  it is very large in size at one time. This is why we should go to the doctor so that you can cure the pain a little later and no problem will arise.

Chronic pain is different from sprain because both have different durability.

For back pain and any bone related chronic pain, we can try Chiropractic treatment which is effective on most of the cases and relives pain soon after the treatment ends.

I have tolerance in pain.

I also have a very high tolerance for pain. But there are certainly different levels of pain that even a person of such "high tolerance for pain" couldn't even tolerate or manage, if and when such a thing happens.

When we are sick, we often stumble upon what we cannot do. Focus on what you can do instead of what you can't do.

Initially, I want to avoid the use and reliance to medicine when it comes to pain management.
Generally speaking, I use mind over matter instead to handle pain as much as possible. And if in case it becomes too unbearable, I try to seek alternative options instead and then decide from there which route I take later.

For pain arising from accidents, the initial pain due to impact is usually temporary. But if there's any pain experienced immediately thereafter, you can either self-manage your pain and do self medication or have it checked by a doctor instead, depending on the severity of the pain involved.

Would have recommended herbs to people who don't like the "artificial drugs". Certain herbs(from tree, plants...) work wonders in my body (very quick relief).    You will be surprised how quick/effective the green plants/leaves you see around in abundance can heal illnesses.
It'll takes good research and "intuition" to know what works well for you and how to use it.

Eating/drinking healthy, taking such herbs and working hard help alot. And it's important to know how to eat/drink to avoid undisirable side effects of certain food/drink combinations. Mine is usually Bad foods/drinks = bad side effects.... Bad foods/drinks + good foods/drinks = bad side effects.

There are usually many types of pain in humans many people take many steps for this some are natural and some are on the advice of a doctor first we need to change our thinking every work must be viewed positively be time-conscious you have to have some entertainment for yourself. For example one can simply sit comfortably in a chair and take a deep breath with a fixed gaze at a point in the wall to avoid stress you can exercise regularly talk to your co-workers in the space of work or meditate.

You really need to consult a doctor it might be an indication of something serious but I hope its not. We should not ignore an unusual pain, its our health so we need to take care of it.

Aside from yoga, gentle massage and physical therapy can help to ease the pain.

If you have psychical pain then a glass of wine doesn't help.
It might make you forget that you are in pain, because you will have alcohol in your blood and you might feel dizzy but when the alcohol leaves your blood then you will feel the pain again.

I always ask to have a massage and it's really giving a soothing feeling.

Smoking marijuana is never the right solution to manage pain it never relieves pain but does a lot of damage to health. Let yourself be confused chronic pain demands your attention focusing on other things such as watching movies enjoying activities with friends and family reading or starting a new hobby can cause your thoughts to focus elsewhere. Focusing only on other parts of the body diverts attention away from the feeling of pain take treatment if necessary.

There are may painkillers available in the market. Chronic pain is really hard to manage and it might be a sign or a symptom of a disease or there is something wrong with your body so try to consult first to your doctor. But if really dont want to, and you are finding a non pharmacologic alternative, try having a massage, acupuncture

Pain is something that comes and goes. In the moment of pain one always feel like it's not gonna end but what we do at that moment matters a lot. Personally, when I feel pain, I just take my time to relax and try not to think about it. The pain goes away after a while. Like they say, time heals all wound.

My body system reacts negatively whenever I take anesthesia or any pain relief drugs. So I handle my pain with weed, whenever I smoke I feel alright.

Sometime I worry that pills for pains don't really solve the real cause of the pain instead they just suppress the pain ... so I tend to avoid them, or I would take natural "pain killers" that not only suppress the pain but also help treat the root cause of pain. My main natural pain killers are things like tea, warm water with herbs, banana(& certain fruits/veg), exercising, fasting, fresh air, etc

I try to avoid bad foods and bad drinks. They contribute alot to pains

These are quite an effective way as you need to engage yourself in some other things which will help you to keep yourself busy. Also, if you have happen to have some close friends then sharing is always better as you may get some solutions or just you will relax yourself after speaking out and will not be just within you.

To relieve this, he tied sandbags in his arms to stop himself from scratching the skin, which was banned by the doctor. except the sandbag, he played online games to distract himself and it helped. the real pain for me, is when I lost him, I relieved my pain by talking to my friends and meting new people :-\

Self-hypnosis is a popular relaxation technique that can be effectively used for healing and pain control. A hypnosis strategy, called glove anesthesia, is to imagine yourself in a trance with your hands numb, heavy, and wooden. Then, take the part of your hand or body that feels pain and imagine that these parts feel equally relaxed, heavy, and numb.

Musical pain pain patients can relieve pain by enjoying their favorite music. Patients can sing while listening, or they can close their eyes and listen quietly, and move their hands and feet with the beat. This can both distract attention and relieve tension.

Lack of exercise during the period is also one of the common reasons for the high incidence of back pain. Therefore, patients must pay attention to exercise, develop good exercise habits in life, improve joint flexibility through exercise, relieve muscle tension, and achieve back pain.

Dear diary, keep the pain magazine. Through careful observation and when you experience pain, sometimes you can find certain patterns and then try to break or change these patterns. You, for example, may find that you develop your symptoms when you do not get enough sleep, do not get enough physical exercise, miss a meal, eat certain foods, or visit relatives.

Keep your mind active and talk about common interests and hobbies with your friends. You will find that things don't always go according to plan, but when you do, don't feel uneasy or panic because the pain will increase. Listening to soothing music, self-hypnosis is very helpful to alleviate pain, look at the way to control pain-maybe you will never have a day without pain.

well, I find trouble with my boyfriend or ask my friends to quarrel with me over something, thus I'll forget all those pains and get entirely devoted to the quarrel or fight thing. I really enjoy it, it's funny. of course you should pick up the right time to do it in case that your partner/friend is busy/upset then and control the situation for its worsening into a really quarreling/fighting. you can pretend that you fart around him/her to slightly annoy your quarrel target... ;D

First, make sure you see a doctor, make sure you know what type of chronic pain you are suffering from, what the cause is, and whether there are medicines that can help you. Make sure your doctor is with you, make sure this is chronic pain caused by "X", and they are willing to treat you. Many people, including PhDs, think that everything is in our heads. If you have fibromyalgia, like me, it has been 40 years and diagnosed several times, then this is what I think-they think the cause of fibromyalgia may be an imbalance of chemicals in the brain. Find out the cause of the pain, what (surgery) will help.

When you're in pain, it might help to focus on breathing. When your pain is intense, it's easy to shallow your breath, and shortness of breath can make you feel dizzy, anxious, or panicked. Breathing deeply and slowly, you will feel the pain under control and the body will relax slowly, preventing more muscle tension or anxiety as the pain worsens.

The first thing to do is to take a rest and avoid excessive tiring activities. The pain can be relieved by restoring stress factors. Secondly, some anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs can be used for treatment.

This could not be a permanent solution as stress in our daily life’s will happen but that does not mean you should keep drinking to avoid it. Also, it effects health in the end. So need to find more suttle way to handle it. You need to know why that problem arose, was it because of you and was it controllable. Work on it so that does not occur again and move on.

Drink a lot of water and try to relax your mind and body . Pain can be triggered if you always think that you're in pain , just turn around your self to other stuff that might enjoy you and help you to forget that you're in pain . Meditation and avoiding too much overthinking may also help you to handle pain.

If the chronic pain cannot be relieved after regular pain diagnosis and treatment, especially for many degenerative diseases, there may be indications for surgery.

Same strategy for me when I am in pain I would force myself to sleep and hope that it would be okay when I wake up or at least the pain would be lessen.
It would also depend on how I could lessen it sometimes I would make myself busy by reading manga or watching movie,
I would do whatever I could just to lessen it until it goes away.

I guess diverting the attention to things that can produce feeling that is opposite of the pain.

I usually prefer to let my pain stay, then try multiple things to see what works for me consistently and very effectively.
As a religious person, diverting attention to deep prayers, having enough faith, deeply focusing on GOD's Words  work for me always. .. But sometimes i feel I don't have to keep bothering GOD for thesame pains/illness I most likely caused myself by always allowing unhealthy things like bad foods/air into my body, probably due to the environment I live in, and that I'm unlikely to stop living in soon ...  I then decide to try multiple natural treatments like:
1. drinking blended fruits/vegs,
2. drinking warm water,
3. drinking warm tea/herbs,
4. doing nice things to people (which kind of increase happiness/joy) , etc.
I think doing 1 to 4 (esp 4) works consistently for me... but tend to work gradually rather than immediately.  The faith-based ones work quickly/immediately.

For small thigs the home remedies might work. But generally, I do consult the doctor right in beginning because at times stretching for long days on such things might not be right when in the end, we must visit doctor only. So better just to get the right treatment from the start which is more beneficial too.

If it is a physical pain, you have to grit your teeth and persevere, turn your attention away, and think about other things to reduce the pain. If it is a psychological pain, you have to grit your teeth as well! Too often, only if you are strong, you can overcome everything! Psychological pain is nothing more than being broken in love, losing a loved one, failing in business, being in debt, being deceived, etc. Now that it has happened, it is better to face it! Being immersed in pain and unable to extricate itself will only increase pain! When you face it with an optimistic attitude, the pain is naturally less and less! At any time, it is better to rely on others than on yourself!

If it is trapped nerves, pulled muscles, ligament issue or sciatica then stretching properly sometimes helps and correcting poor posture, sleeping position along with correct breathing technique unless your issue is related to a serious medical illness or injury. Sometimes pain can be a useful tool to keep your mind focused on more important things and helps purge weakness from your mind and body but that is for another discussion.

My pain is in my lower back, shoulders, and neck.

What do you do to handle pain?

You could try natural remedies that can reduce inflammation but if your pain is in the areas you specified then you need to keep moving. It might be the worst thing you can think of right now but you can not allow your joints to seize up through inactivity.

Do some light stretching & if you can face it a short walk could help. Seeing a chiropractor could be an option, as could using heat gels to massage into the affected areas.

Pain, no matter the type is not what I would wish for my worst enemy. I mean not fully understand the degree to which you feel this pain, but I've read storage of people who suffer from chronic pain. I to myself have experienced some sort of acute pain which usually goes away after a couple of days. Right now, I can only speak about the acute pain I have felt in the past and what I did to ease the pain.

Sometime in the past I used to have terrible headaches. I didn't know why but after some introspection I came to the conclusion that it was as a result of lifestyle changes. For example, I stayed too long at my computer screen, I barely got up to 5 hours of rest, I was drinking so much alcohol and less water and a whole lot of other things I didn't take fruit I ate more of junks. To ease the pain, I scheduled a regular time for going to bed, I've started taking more fruit instead of alcohol, I bought a blue screen for my laptop and tried to spend less time staring at the computer screen. I mean I only used it if I wanted to do an important work. Within a couple of days, the headache subsided, and I felt better.

If the discomfort is in the areas you mentioned, you can experiment with natural remedies to reduce inflammation, but you must keep moving. You must not allow inactivity to cause your joints to swell, even though it could be the worst case scenario you can think of right now.

A little walk and some light stretching, if you're up for it, might be beneficial. Potential remedies include applying heat gels to the sore areas and seeing a chiropractor.

Pain, no matter the type is not what I would wish for my worst enemy. I mean not fully understand the degree to which you feel this pain, but I've read storage of people who suffer from chronic pain. I to myself have experienced some sort of acute pain which usually goes away after a couple of days. Right now, I can only speak about the acute pain I have felt in the past and what I did to ease the pain.I suggest using /348mBs]Pregabalin (https://[Suspicious link removed) to reduce the pain.
Relaxation techniques such as meditation, deep breathing, yoga or progressive muscle relaxation can help reduce stress and pain. Supporting loved ones, participating in support groups, or seeking help from a psychologist or therapist can help with the emotional aspects of chronic pain. It is important to remember that each person is unique, and methods of coping with chronic pain may be different. It is recommended that you see a medical professional for individualized guidance and appropriate treatment.

I have also a lot of pain in my back (I have scoliosis, and actually I'm on wheelchair since 2006 after surgery's fail) Since I started to work in gym, I feel more comfortable and with less pain.. Thats my tip.. But chronical pain is probably something different. So sorry for u, but I wish u all the best! especially health, thats the most important thing :)

Listen to me. I am an exploration diver and my brother is a SEAL. Myself broke both ankles twice, 3l and 1r knees surgery, broken right hip, 2r shoulder rebuilds and 1 left. I can run 10 miles and swim one before breakfast and still throw weights and ladies on the daily. My brother more or less the same. I am 50 he is 46.

We both live mostly pain free (aside from pain of an activity but who cares).

YOGA YOGA YOGA for the body and mind.

and when you done with yoga do more yoga.

Swimming is also another great activity.

Honestly your pain sounds more like stress than any injury, just say'n

I'm sorry you're dealing with chronic pain. Since you avoid painkillers and don't have a bathtub, you could try creams, self-massage, and specific exercises. Get advice from professionals for your lower back, shoulders, and neck pain.

It's just best to seek medical professionals when the pain is too much. With all of these DIY pain removal creams, etc, they may help temporarily but it might be back eventually.

That's why whoever has a lot of suffering and feeling lots of pain, you go immediate with a seek help from a professional that handles these matters before it gets worse.

What kind of pain you're talking about, for physical pain i think that there's one and only solution for that, it's to become epicure, that's a sort of philosophy you can search about and it is endless, it's about the degree of your pain, for the psychological pain, personally i do some meditation it always helps me to handle it, listen to some relaxing music and try to think about something else and try to nit get depressed all the time.

Pain can be managed in many ways to relieve your physical pain you must be physically active. For this light to moderate exercise is important to keep well. Regular exercise not only lifts your mood but also helps keep you physically fit. And to improve mental health and relieve stress and anxiety you connect with your family and friends. Bonds made in person are much stronger and more beneficial to the mind.

We all have pains in our lives, our lives are full of frustrations because we have to face many problems in our lives that we have to face ourselves.  We have to move forward so we can remove these pins of our own and fix ourselves in our own language
