Title: [WTS] Silver and Copper NORFED (Liberty Dollar) Rounds
Post by: johnniewalker on September 21, 2013, 09:03:59 PM
Hey everybody,
I have a separate post w/the copper rounds, but I thought I'd just make it easier and put them here, too.
2 x NORFED 1oz Copper Rounds.

As far as copper, I have 2 x 2007 $1 (classic design). I also have 1 x 2008 Error Round-it has the "Peace" (NORFED was involved in a legal battle, hence Peace instead of Liberty on the front) front with the Ron Paul "Vote For Truth" reverse.

Each 2007: http://btcticker.appspot.com/mtgox/8usd.png
Error 2008: http://btcticker.appspot.com/mtgox/9.25usd.png

These prices include a coin capsule and shipping anywhere in the US. If you are international and interested, let me know.

Thanks!

These prices are pretty good, compared to what they usually go for at auction.
Is this an offer just to bitcointalk folks for bitcoin only sale?
I am going to pass it to some collectors who aren't yet using bitcoin, maybe this will get them to start.

Thanks. I've had them and I figured I might as well sell off any duplicates in my collection. If someone you know is interested, I can do PayPal. Just tell them to feel free to send me a message-thank you!

Great, if you are a collector rather than a user of the currency, I have some New Liberty Dollar triple-struck proofs to trade.
We have taken in quite a few original Liberty Dollars in trade from nervous hands under the impression that they might get confiscated.  Some would rather have our more easily legally defensible currency.  The New Liberty Dollars seem to be easier to sell on eBay and such, no restrictions, and I enjoy even the worn original Liberty Dollar pieces which have circulated, for my own purposes.  As a maker, I like to see how they hold up over time.

If you are looking for even more exotic alternate currency items, I have a few of the nearly-impossible-to-get pieces.

What would be your bitcoin price for all the 2007 and 2008 pieces shipped?
I can get you some NLD and some of the new (First minting today) of the Bitcoin Specie pieces.

Also, you should know that Liberty Dollar was one of Satoshi Nakamoto's inspirations for Bitcoin:

Notice also that the coppers are avoirdupois ounces (AV) instead of troy ounces.  Liberty Dollar was the first ounce copper piece and did it the right way.  This is because copper is not a precious metal.
Other makers of copper pieces have weirdly used troy measurements for copper pieces, which is simply wrong, go figure.
One AVDP pound equals 16 AVDP ounces.  There are 12 troy ounces per troy pound.
The troy ounce is 480 grains, compared with the avoirdupois ounce, which is 437½ grains (0.06479891 gram)

Right. It was listed in the Constitution (or at least by the Framers) that silver and gold were to be measured in troy units...weird.
