Hi Friends, I am a new-bee dealing with multi-graphic cards.
I have a Asrock 870 extreme motherboard and I want to install 2*5830+1*5850 card.
There was 2*PCI expressX16 slots, I plugged two cards inside and everything looks fine for me now. But I have problems for the third card.
There are two PCIexpreX1 slots on the motherboard and I think probably I can run the third card by the extension cable.I bought one from cablesaures

But I am not sure how to connect them together. Could anyone be kind enough to give me some instruction?

It is correct method to use the extension cable?

The pictures didn't load for me but that could be my PC, either way yes there is a correct, you will notice the cable is split in a way that has a gap between the two segments and if you look on the video card it has the same gap, so you want to match the little short piece (closest to video input) to the exact spot as on the cable. Just match the two up and you should be good. Sorry I don't have a picture  but just look at the cable and your video card you will see what I am talking about.

If I am right, the "gold finger" of the graphic card (PCI exX16) is something like this

Is it right that I only the Female end of the extension cable to the blue part, leaving the red part empty to the air?
I want to make sure about that. It is the first time that I used the extension cable and I am a litter afraid that I may burn my motherboard into ashes.

You are correct, the way you showing it with the colors.

To ensure the card doesn't short out or cause problems make sure the exposed area (Red Lines) don't touch anything, best to hang the card from a support, look around the forums and see how people are hanging their cards using PCI-Extenders. Personally I went with the metal shoe holders, to get some ideas check out how other people built their rigs. http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=7216.640.

A little electrical tape over the exposed connector goes a long way to solving that, and helps keep loose extenders in place to boot ;)

Which would be perfectly fine.  You do not need a full 16x connection to mine.  I have 4 cards running well on 1x -> 1x extenders.

[Edit] NM, I see where the OP mentions 1->16x extenders where the illustration indicates otherwise.
