Title: Lego Folding Build - Too Cool!
Post by: mikeo on July 19, 2011, 09:41:14 PM
I know, it's not a miner, but the build is really beautiful and may give someone here some interesting ideas.

Awesome!

I wonder if anyone's built a rig with K'Nex?

I'm not familiar with the cost/availability of Legos so I'm wondering how much a build like that would cost?

Second that. I have a few old boxes lying around but nowhere near enough of the right pieces.. Also, I have heard there was actually a designer program which allowed you to do CAD style model and then gave you a part list to order... that may be quite useful too...

EDIT:
trying now:

Let us know if you get something reasonable out of the Lego Designer. I looked at it and didn't know where to start :-/

Look through the rigs thread.  I'm pretty sure someone in there has built a K'Nex rig to support his/her cards :)

yes those are lego...and duplo...It's a holdover until I get some time to build the wood frame.  Two 6970's at ~360MH/s on stock voltage and one 5830 at 270MH/s, also on stock voltage...all running on linuxcoin.  Using the GPU fans @ 50% they all hover around 73C in my basement drawing 720 watts.

I believe you're thinking of an Erector Set (https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Erector_Set). Went out of style with the chemistry sets... Sharp edges and chemicals? The children could be killed!

I am so incredibly grateful not to be a youngster today. They don't have a clue how to actually build anything. Nor do toystores have anything resembling a decent model section anymore.

That K'Nex build is actually pretty elegant. Being an 'old fart' I have no idea where one obtains K'Nex though.

Im impressed with the K'Nex one that had to take some time to construct it. But I wonder how fragile it is, can you move it as one piece if you had to?
