In the first one fourths of the year now is a bit low than last year, cause i remember last year, the price of bitcoin in the first months was skyrocketing then took a big dip during summer bit it easily came back up within the next 4 weeks, but this year the price has been especially low and there is no sign of coming back up again until march.

I think bitcoin prices have decreased compared to last year.
The price of btc around this month last year is just 1k USD, So comparing BTC's price last year to this year, I can say that the price of BTC is still high. Well, no one would have expected BTC to reach 10k~20k USD in just a year,.

Last year when btc hit $1000,i thought it has reached its end and that it will reverse but this year its moving between $10 - $11k, it shows the price is very high than last year, but as per % change, it may be a different thing.

No shit sherlock.

Don't see the point of your discussion. It is quite clear that the prices are down compared to the highs of last year. Now, what else do you want to discuss aside from the obvious. :/

If you want to compare it to the price it had at the exact same date as last year, it is still way up as it was just about $1,000 at this time of the year last year. But from your thread you seem to be talking about the highs of bitcoins last year, so I don't think you meant that.

Since bitcoin markets really behave like this, the prices today is quite acceptable. Though it might take a very long time before it surpass the $20000 mark. May educated guess is that bitcoin will reach it probably next year. When new adapters are starting to dive in and old investors going back to try again.
Right now the public is not very educated about cryptocurrency. When that time comes that will drive bitcoins price even further.
I think the bitcoin market have a cycle of peaks it might reach that next year for me.

I think bitcoin prices have decreased compared to last year.
There are lots of charts and statistics available that will clearly show you price is weather decreased or increased from last year.

Bitcoin price is quite volatile so a sudden increase and decrease is normal.

Bitcoin prices did not have that much time to go up or the other way because it's only February. Last year is doing good so far.

I think that everything is not so bad. Since yesterday, a new version of Bitcoin 0.16.0 has been released, which fully supports SegWit and therefore all bottlenecks of bitcoin are eliminated, after which it should show good growth in price in the next few days. The altcoyins will follow him unequivocally, the general revival of the market will begin and everything will go up. The two-month deep recession and trampling on the spot will finally be over. Therefore, this year may be such that before the summer of the Crypto currency will grow and will achieve no worse results than last year.

If I see bitcoin from last year bitcoin has increased when viewed from the time of the month, too, because the highest price is at the end of 2017 and now it's only early 2018 early, and I'm sure that later in 2018 the end of bitcoin price is definitely higher the price compared to last year, if in my opinion bitcoin price increases when viewed from the side of the year.

Not much difference, the growth is happening almost in the same pattern. Expect the gradual growth in price for a short time period after which if there is no more fake news getting circulated can expect good pump in the price as China has once again got into the market with dominance even after regulation.

Bitcoin value went up very high up to USD.18k or more before the year ends. It was a great time for all who have invested. However, in the first quarter of 2018, it was observed that bitcoin price has fluctuated to like USD.8k or lower. It was really a big fall down but I believe that are still many bitcoiners who have maintained trust that bitcoin will rise even more higher. It is a normal cycle in everything, there is high and fall and bitcoin is gonna survive this season due to the fact that bitcoin is an online currency that is strong and has brought wealth to people.

I think bitcoin prices have decreased compared to last year.

Do you think?  :D

Many experts expected this to happen because the price was increasing too fast last year and a correction was inevitable. Some news about regulations in some countries also affected Bitcoin's price, because it involves investors behavior and exchanges traffic/performance. But if we think more about it, BTC price isn't so bad, it seems very stable near $10.000-$11.000, it's just waiting a while to get more breath and go up strongly again.

compared to last year bitcoin prices are very low at the beginning of the year and by the end of 2017 bitcoin has increased very high. whereas at the beginning of this year bitcoin has declined in price but if compared to bitcoin prices at the beginning of last year with bitcoin prices at the beginning of this year is very different, higher bitcoin prices earlier this year than at the beginning of last year. I think the bitcoin price at the end of this year will be higher than the bitcoin price at the end of last year.

Bitcoin price in the history of Crypto currency reach a very high price of about $18,000. from about $900 as at Dec. 2016 and about $1000 as at Feb. 2017. It is a known fact that the price of bitcoin this year 2018, is low compare to the price of Bitcoin last year. The Exponential rise in the price of Bitcoin last year  bring bitcoin to lime light world wide as a Crypto  currency  to invest in. The Volatility of Bitcoin causes prices of bitcoin to increase or decrease, and this was experienced since December  2017, and usually after a period of the dip, prices of Bitcoin will actually begin to rise again. As at this month of February 2018, it will be too early to conclude that the price is low, since there are about 10 months ahead. To be able to effectively compare last year 2017 with  this year 2018, the year should have reach more than half to be able to Comparatively compare them.

if you compared the price between last year all time high to this year that's not a fair comparison.

last year price was less than $2000 at this point and now it is $10,000+ which is 5+ times more. how do you consider that as "decrease">!!!!

With regard to Bitcoin's price rise in early 2017, Bobby Lee, CEO of BTCC, predicts that Bitcoin's price could reach $ 7,000. For him, the ongoing increase in Bitcoin prices, seen from eight years earlier to the present day, is not surprising. Because he believes Bitcoin is more promising. He stated that all Bitcoin users must understand Bitcoin's uniqueness, and moments like this have been waiting for many people.

I like the poll tho. Not sure what to vote for. lol

This year has started far better. At this time, exactly one year ago,  in 2017 the price was around $1,100 and now it's $10,530 now. The price is 10x bigger than it was last year at this time.

This is the price chart for Feb 28. 2017 to Feb 28. 2018.

obviously yes, currently bitcoin down compared with last year's price. nothing special with the rise and fall, it all depends on the situation. by 2017 the value of bitcoin is too very fast in growth. and the effect is painful correction. This shows a healthy market.

I think bitcoin prices have decreased compared to last year.

You should elaborate your question more so that it can get some more meaning! I would say there is no correlation between the last years prices and todays prices of the bitcoin. Back then the prices were dependent upon different factors and after the 20X spike in the prices of bitcoin things have changed a lot and new regulations are taking over to drive the prices of bitcoin. So this years price and market cap is completely different and its all because of the different reasons.

The prices can be compared if bitcoin had been stable since it was created but suddenly something happened to cause it spike or die for instance! Then we could have been discussing the real ting today.

Yes, the value of bitcoin this year is much lower than last year. But its price is still quite high. Discounts at the beginning of 2018 are not worrisome. I believe in bitcoin. Its decline early in the year may be the beginning of strong value growth. The difficulties early this year hope bitcoin will quickly overcome difficulties and quickly anti-price increase

Really? Btc's value march last year isn't even a quarter of its current value today. Its useless to compare since btc adoption then isn't as high as it is now and a lot has happened over the past few months. We're just getting started this year and it seems to be a decent start at the least aside from the bug correction in january

There’s no comparison at all, why? because we can’t compare a 2017 (whole year) and a 2018 is at (1st quarter). So to start with we can’t compare this apple 🍎 to this one 🍏 . So I can only conclude that only few days after the end of 2018 we can, as of the moment don’t look at the past but open yourself on the future price as all of the years can be good and bad in a slight turn around.

Bitcoin has done well and it is good we should appreciate our current position and 2018 is going to be the best year in the history of cryptocurrency.

Use the opportunity to have more profit or buy lots of bitcoin before 2018 end, if we see in various year befor bitcoin price always goes up. You should know in 2018 will be launched lighting network that will attract investors to invest in bitcoin. Try to positive thinking will calm you down.

indeed compared to last year's price now quite quite different.
in this year prices tend to fluctuate and like aga hard to increase.
IMO if we want to continue to increase at least we have to break the price above the figure of $ 12k for the price trip can continue to rise and will no longer tend towards the decline

By far the best post in this thread, although I am not very comfortable using the term bubble. I rather speak about an overbought market. Overall, I can't do anything other can completely agreeing with that. I have said it some days ago as well, and that's the fact that the previous bottoms are somewhat of a guarantee that we will not dip under that as long as the demand keeps increasing. It's a very solid bullish cycle indicating either growth or stagnation in demand. In that regard, it was actually a very easy money making opportunity, because with the aforementioned in mind, one would be foolish to not buy instantly at any level below $7000. Time will tell whether or not the next ultimate bottom will be above or under the $10,000 level.

The price of bitcoin is growing. It is impossible to apply the tactics of templates. The price is influenced by many factors that can not be predicted. The price of bitcoin this year will double compared to the last year's high. This means that at the end of this year we will see a price tag of about 40,000 dollars.

In addition, the yearly lows for BTC in 2015, 16 and 17 all have been in the month of January. In 2018, it may have been February 6th. (We do not know for sure yet as the year is not over...)  But it looks like the typical V shaped bottom that BTC has had in the past.

Past history is not indicative of future prices and I am not sure if BTC will have the same percentage gains as 2017 which was huge compared to conventional markets.  One thing it has going for it is continued mass adoption. If it follows Metcalfe's law, it should have year over year gains for the next several years.

I think the price from last year when we compared to this year is not that huge. Remember, we are just on the 3rd month of this year. So many of us had the predictions on what maybe the price of bitcoin this year ends. Maybe bitcoin price this year may going higher than the last year.

This is something many forget, the price increase last year was completely unexpected, and many of the things that happened were unexpected as well, like getting 20 forks all of a sudden and japan accepting bitcoin as a currency, and that is why the price grew so much, so the fact we got a decrease in rice is nothing to be worried about it will eventually recover but it will take sometime before that happens.

Don't compare the movement of the price last year to the current movement, the reasons why the price of bitcoin last year is different it's because of block halving where the block reward reduced to half from 25 to 12.5 bitcoin per block. Since bitcoin reward reduced by half the supply reduced and the demand still the same that could result in higher demand and low supply. So the price of bitcoin should increase and today the movement of the price of bitcoin is normal I don't see any differences compared to past years ago, 2017 is not included because last year there are many reasons why the price increase a lot like some company suggested using bitcoin as payment for their services or product.

No one can predict the price of bitcoin so maybe this year the price of bitcoin currency become much higher than last year.

we must understand that the year that Bitcoin has risen to $ 20,000, will be remembered for a long time, until we see more figures on the maximum value of the price of Bitcoin. to date, Bitcoin seems to have stalled at $ 10,000 or $ 11,000 and seems to be not going up any time soon.

I think bitcoin prices have decreased compared to last year.

How do you mean decreased, do you mean in market capitalisation or in adoption? because if its the latter, I think the first quarter of this year has shown so much activity of bitcoin compared to last year and it would suggest that the prices are better off.

But Market dominance has indeed decreased, around this time last year, BTC had 84-85% dominance and now it has barely 38-41%, that's pretty much because of new altcoins flooding the market everyday.

Charts wise we are seeing the same trend. Bitcoin falls in the beginning of the year and rises at the end and the circle continues.

Bitcoin's market value has dramatically decreased over the past few months where it went down to 5K USD mark. If we look at the graph, it's really evident bitcoin's struggles but at least, it started to climb back again now as it reached 11K USD mark.

Well , there are a lot of thinks that have changed compare to 201u , and one of them is the value of Bitcoin  . In 2017 Bitcoin has begun to raise up to a literally new "level " , he raise up to 8k at first and then he continue raicing up until at the end of the 2017 he  reach almost $20.000.  In just one month bitcoin raised up to$ 19k , and that was incredible for all of us . Actually everything that happened in 2017 it's happening again right now , bitcoin dropped to almost 5k just like he did last year and after that he raised up with a double price .

It is too early to make such speculations.  As far as I know,  there is only a possibility for price increase or price growth.  We speculate too much about prices that is why when it never happened,  we get disappointed.  We can compare this year's price with last year's price but we should expect that what happened last year in the price will also happen in this year's price.

There is a lot of time and a lot of months before this year ends,  no one knows what will happen and we can only hope the price to increase.

As we see in this year bitcoin prices faltered in the $ 9k price range. This situation is very difficult for bitcoin to reach the maximum price like last year. Everyone has their own predictions about it, but I am optimistic it will not last long. Mid-year this may be a turning point for take off towards the moon.

Right,  long days are still waiting for changes in bitcoin prices.  We do not know if it will increased and skyrocket again but we can patiently wait for it.  The market is very volatile that any changes might occur anytime.  What we need is to control our emotions and carefully think of what we are going to do.  We might need to sell because of financial needs but if it is not that important,  it is much better to hold.

Many traders are making the mistake of selling at low price but if you really want to earn profit and big profit,  try to hold emotions as long as you can.

LOL really?

End of March 2017 Bitcoin was $1000. Now is $7000. How can you say prices had decreased when prices increased 700%. +700% you get in 10 years when you invest ins something. And only if you are lucky.  Price increased drastically compared to last year!!

Bitcoin will continue to fluctuate over time. Compared to last year maybe this year bitcoin performance a little choked up, but everyone can not predict the bitcoin in the future, we can only wait whether bitcoin will reach the maximum price like last year or vice versa.

Op you need not to think as to whether Bitcoin price has decreased from its previous height last year but what we are seeing with Bitcoin value fluctuations is more than 50 percent decline in the market value of Bitcoin since the beginning of this January this year though I believe with time upward trend will start.

yes, it is true, it is very different. especially by the end of 2017 getting a very unexpectedly increasing increase, thanks to the trend of all bitcoin users, but when it comes in 2018, there's a lot of negative news from starting banning ads on facebook / google and illegal status in china, where a lot of users cryptocuurency part of china. but it all did not close the possibility if at the end of 2018 this price will soar again, due to positive news from G20 that discuss bitcoin regulations in the world. Last year 2017 was the year of bitcoin, there was a massive growth in bitcoin market. It brokes so many records last year. But this year the price of bitcoin is fluctuates. There are so many ups and downs in the bitcoin market. The growth is not healthy. So many dips happened in this year. According to coinmarketcap this dip is temporarily. Soon the bitcoin will back with massive growth in upcoming days.

We have to move on and that's we need to do right now. We saw on how good the prices before but early last year you need to realize and accept that it was around $1,000. Price comparison from last year to this year is only what others are doing when they can't accept the fact that bitcoin is slow in moving. Fluctuation is happening from time to time and there's no assurance that this bearish can last. Price today is more than 100% in increase so stop comparing it.

The market situation this year is slightly different than last year than the price is already different, last year in the same month the price is still around $1000, different from now. but the equation is the beginning of 2017 there is no special movement no surprises whatsoever same as the beginning of 2018 at this time

True, to mention that there are a lot of cryptocurrencies emerging..the more competitors the more the market becomes dense..so i expect that last year is very different to this year.

Hoping for that to happen. Indeed, last year was the year of bitcoin because as we can remember in that year when the bitcoin goes up into $20,000 especially at the end of the year. However, compared before bitcoin is now having a small value due to negative interpretation because of scammers. I am pretty sure that it will be just a temporarily and in a next few days bitcoin will rise again and will become enormous.

The difference is totally big and it's not just slightly but it's completely different. $1,000 last year --> $19,000 --> $6,000 --> $8,100 (current price). A lot of things happened for a very short period of time. And if that equation or calculation since last year that there's nothing much movement then we are just experiencing it again. What's good about it is chances of being in the bull market again can be on June until the end of the year.

I do not even know what real figures can be predicted in the future, especially if we analyze the last year and the current one. I think that the growth of Bitcoin is incomparably 20,000 dollars and today's 8500 dollars.

Crytocurrencies generally have responded to more FUDs than before. Bitcoin prices now are more volatile than 2017 and may remain so for a little more time.

Just search them here in the forum and there are many figures that will come out on what will be the figure of bitcoin in the future but there's no sure figure for it. Most of them are speculations so don't expect that there is someone that is sure of what he's saying. It's like an intelligent guess with an analysis base to the market's happenings. Remembering or comparing the growth of bitcoin that was once reached before $20,000 is really far from today's price.

We should expect bitcoin price to still go than a little before see another good upward price movement. Bitcoin has been doing very well as at October to December every year and we should not expect a different events this year 2018 and by then can we really being able to tell if it is good this year or bad.

Of course, we all know how bitcoin and the altcoins showed to us their potential and how bitcoin reaches 20,000$. Contrary to that, bitcoin has plunged down deep since January this year but  i could not actually compare their prices yet as we are just in the 1st quarter of this year. Who knows, it will exceed more than 20,000$ before the last quarter of this year starts? :)

I think bitcoin prices have decreased compared to last year.

This point of view is relative, because we must bear in mind that at this point last year the price of bitcoin was barely around $1,200. But taking into account that the year 2017 was an absolute exception regarding the historical performance of bitcoin, it should not be a valid reference to compare in real terms the current performance of bitcoin. I find it more useful to compare it with the years 2015-2016.

You are comparing the all time high versus the current price and when you do that it is obvious that the price may seem low, but when you compare the price that bitcoin had in this month in the previous year you will realize that the price of bitcoin is higher than back then, also it is very logical to think that the price of bitcoin will go down from time to time, after all when the price skyrocketed at the end of the year everyone knew that that price was impossible to maintain and that it was a bubble.

The bubbly nature of bitcoin is nothing bad because it gives it edge over all other conventional investment markets in the world. What we need to understand is that it takes time to get expert in any field and same is happening with bitcoin. It is not fully grown yet and needs few more years for getting little bit more stable in prices. I am of the view that we should keep supporting bitcoin no matter what happens.

I think this year is good than the previous one because the price is much better than before. Investment cap is also higher than that of 2017. More people are aware of cryptocurrency and putting their money in it to earn more and more. As time passes cryptocurrency will hold the market all over the world. Gradually the use of crypto is increasing.

The price today is more less than the last year. If we see the price last year ago which is highest price is already increased $20,000 and the price today is $7500 and if we see the price is very big difference but it is good compared to the last few years ago which is the price is hundreds dollars price. But we have 7 months before end of this year and we will have more time to increase more the price again.

I think same situation like last year, but compare to last year this year the price is decreasing so much. But last year at the end of December it would showed it's tremendous growth. No one expect such growth. Likewise this year also it will creates some record in the upcoming months. We cannot judge but let us hope, because now the price of bitcoin is in neutral stage. Neither increasing nor decreasing so much. It struggles to between $5K to $6K. It would fight between within this limit only. Surely by the end of this year the price will increase and it will make the bitcoin users very happy.

The bitcoin price last year has been very exciting, as we remembered it was just around $8k until the 3rd quarter until it reaches very nearly $20k on november, but u fortunately it went down before the year 2017 ends, and for this year 2018 i can feel the same thing to happen, that before the year ends it will go beyond $20k, as per last year’s peak price. And surely everyone in the community is waiting and wishing the same thing.

It would be an incredible dilemma if the prices of bitcoin mimic the previous charts and trends even with the changes and forth-coming long-awaited adjustments to cryptocurrency regulatory oversight.

The prices of bitcoins this year will increase even more and it will surpass the price of $20k dollar since there are a lot of countries today who are legalizing cryptocurrency on their area.

As much as I don't want to think about it, it still comes to the forefront when thinking about how far the bitcoin price had gone and how retreated backwards in last couple of months but if there is any consolation, its an assurance that its possible. It might not get there again, it reach an surpasses the all time high, but its not something we imagined again because its been touched before which is what makes me glad.
