What is 0xBitcoin?
0xBitcoin (0xBTC) is an open source mineable ERC20 Token, meaning it's only obtainable through Proof of Work.

Abstract:
 0xBitcoin is the implementation of Bitcoin on the Ethereum blockchain using the EIP 918 Interface and is the first mineable, completely decentralized ERC20 token. The 0xBTC smart contract was initiated on Feb-06-2018 04:03:46 AM +UTC. This token utilizes the same SHA-256 Proof of Work Algorithm as the original Bitcoin created by Satoshi Nakamoto. It also bears the same difficulty adjustment every 1024 blocks, halving, eras, and max coin supply of Bitcoin, but with the speed and versatility of an ERC20 token on the Ethereum blockchain.


Purpose:
 The purpose of this project is to provide the Ethereum community with a tool.  This tool is the first truly Proof of Work mined token on Ethereum.  This tool is also the first decentralized payment mechanism on Ethereum besides Ether itself.  This is important because Ether is not designed to be a currency or to be a base pair.  It is designed to be the lifeblood for the Ethereum Network.  Ether is only a 'means to an end' for that purpose and would not exist if the Ethereum network could be secured without it. Therefore it is very important that the community looks to shift payments to a token that is 1) specifically designed for the purpose of payments and that 2) interacts with all standardized token services unlike Ether.

THIs is old coin or new coin?

This mineable token was deployed this month as you can see on Etherscan.  We posted articles about it on this website a few weeks ago and on reddit.  Now the mining software and pool servers are improved to a state where the community feels comfortable with them.

Also yes that is correct there is/was no premine.  There have been hundreds of users mining this from day 2.  On day 10 or 11 people started building their own closed source mining software and it got really hilarious/crazy.  Anyways it had been posted all over reddit and other websites and a community formed in discord!  Feel free to join.

given the fact that there are so many tokens under eth platform and with the same features as yours, run on a faster and more secure and more decentralized network, the challenge is the community that will patronize your services. without solid base, this will go nowhere so i believe that's one thing that you need to strategize.

I believe this issue was caused by the server falling over on saturday night - It couldn't have been worse timing, after spending three days staring at it to make sure it would handle the load while I went away to my girlfriend's new apartment with no internet, 30 minutes later it went down! (I definitely owe her a date night after dragging her back across the city to fix this!). So I assure you this was as much of a pain for me as it was for you!

I've since upgraded to a 5x more powerful server and restored all of the data. In the next couple of weeks I will be moving the management of payouts from my server to a smart contract that will alow everyone in the pool to withdraw whenever they wish to, rather than having to wait until a balance of 15 tokens!

This, along with a load balancing system to ensure 100% uptime, will guarantee issues like this never happen again.

This token will only ever be as powerful as the community behind it. I urge anyone who's interested in this new development in the ERC20 space to come along to the discord,  get involved with the development projects and have a go at mining. There is a lot of potential here, and is definitely one of the more innovative tokens I've seen along with having an awesome community.

Also the miner originally did not support pool mode. It only supported solo mining which required sending transactions to the block chain which required a private key. The pool mode should not require a private key.

0xbtc miner for AMD consume much more power than Etherium or Equihash miners.
But with current price profitability is the same as for coins from WhatToMine site.

I mined on this pool with 450mh and got payouts every 3-5 hours.
But now didn't receive anything for 22h!

The pool is actively being worked on and this will be fixed! Payments are occasionally not being properly broadcasted to the ethereum network, but full logs are kept and payments will be re-sent. If it showed up in your wallet without mining it, it was probably someone spoofing 0xBTC with that Ethereum "exploit" that recently came to light...basically people can make their own coins that look like others and spam them to everyone that has ETH.  Has nothing to do with 0xBTC but check the contract address I bet it's not really 0xBTC ;)


All pools have a minimum payout of around 10-15 coins.  If you are mining with your CPU this may take a very long time...your balance of "360849" is currently only .00360849 0xBTC.

As mentioned earlier, you do have to hit the min payout on your selected pool. Some of them go as low as 5 0xBTC, I believe. Note that your balance on the pools doesn't update until the next block is solved. Keep an eye on your Shares/Share % until then.

I tried both the Oxbtcminer version 2.10 and Cosmic 3.4t, both appear to be relatively new, but I get the same error regardless.

Mining difficulty finally risen to where I am no longer making money hand over fist, BUT it is still more profitable than ETH mining which is cool  ;).  PLUS the coin has a ton of room to grow in value and a lot of hashing power left recently which means the difficulty may adjust downward  :-*  Takin' this thing to the moon.

i'd like to mine this but its all pretty confusing with the gwei and gas. I don't really know how that stuff works. I've only mined with ccminer and ewbf, where I just input a wallet address and i'm ready to go.

also, every pool has like a 5% fee. that seems pretty high, especially if the miner has a % dev fee as well.

i like the token but unless i can get past these hurdles it may not be the one for me. maybe i'll buy some instead.

You don't need to pay gas/gwei if you are in a pool, the pool owner pays the fees to mine and the transaction fees to send you your 0xbtc

i'm still going to pass on mining this though. the nvidia miner has a 2.5% dev fee and all the pools have a 5% fee. i'll buy some though.

It just came in front of my eyes and at opening the thread saw few interesting things. But since it is ERC-20 token it can't be called decentralized unless it has own chain. May be it will move towards decentralization easy by easy. I will look at the features and information in more details later to understand what it is all about.

Just found this project from Coinmarketcap . Logo kinda reminds me of eBTC , but this one got Mining build in  . Does 0xBTC had ICO ? and where i could see people behind this project ? Can't find on website 

No ICO - this is only mined for fair distribuition. And as for people behind this project :) well there is Infernal Toast who deployed the contract and there rest is community driven.

And who is Infernal Toast ? Any real names or just Nickname. Novadays you can't trust any project . So many scams around especially the ones with no people behind it , just with Nicknames

Well the thing is, 0xBitcoin is not a work in progress. Unlike 99% of ERC20 tokens which are released through ICO and have deveopmental roadmaps, 0xBTC was released complete. The code can never be changed. Infernal_Toast could die tonight and the token would function just fine. He could have died the minute after deploying the contract and it would still be true. For all we know a sentient mouse could have coded the contract but it doesn't much matter since it's done! That's actually why I like this project, since it makes no promises and has no need for a long drawn out process of creating artificial hype. It's all community driven!

Are you asking how well it would work to turn a rig that currently mines Ethereum to one that mines 0xBTC?
Interesting question. A lot of Ethereum miners will need to switch to another algorithm when Ethereum 2 comes out.
In the 0xBitcoin project, we anticipate picking up at least some of that hash power.
If you have specific GPUs in mind, please tell me.

Hi! 0xBTC/ERC-918 tokens are mined with the SoliditySha3 algo (an implementation of Keccak256). So, your hashrates will vary from what you'd see using an Ethereum miner.
What sort of hardware do you use? Unlike traditional Ethereum mining it is not memory-hard but is very computationally (GPU core)-intensive. So the way to go is higher GPU clocks, lower memory clock. nVidia hardware has been the most optimized for and is the best suited for the job.

AMD hardware gets respectable hashrates too- but it's probably more profitable to mine a memory-intensive algorithm with those cards (Ethash, Cryptonight variants etc.) and then buy 0xBTC on one of its listed exchanges, Uniswap, DEXes etc.

Its implementation means that as/when Ethereum makes its move to Proof-of-Stake consensus, tokens will remain mineable. :D
