Title: Gpu0 0 Hashrate After Windows 10 Creators Update
Post by: juanichiloco on February 28, 2018, 05:04:44 PM
Just wondering if anyone else has seen the above behavior when mining Eth using Claymores software?

When I connect a monitor GPU0 works as normal but when removed it goes to 0.

Any suggestions appreciated, I have already reinstalled the graphics drivers.

Thanks in advance!

Looks like this may be an issue specific to Win 10 so the current alternatives would be to install Win 7/8 or Linux, does anyone have any other ideas to avoid this?

You need a HDMI DUMMY PLUG (https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Delectronics&field-keywords=hdmi+dummy+plug) , plug into your vga card, and you are good to go :)
(only one plug /  mining rig )

It seems you are using AMD cards, sometimes dummy output needed, it makes driver can read temps, fan, etc. Also, it would make sure your card working in a right resolution. Basically, it's just a trick in order to make the card into thinking there is a monitor connected when there really isn't. Some case, Claymore can't read temps and fan (purple lines), and this trick would bring back those purple lines.

Don't forget to turn off power savings. It will make system thinks that the monitor always on. For newest cards likes RX series, one dummy plug each rig is enough, just like xxcsu said above, but in old series (R9) sometimes need more than one dummy plug (I experienced with it).

Nop, its not problem with Win 10. I have Win 10 on my rig with few GPU's , and I never had that kind of problem. But I have Nvidia cards. What Geraldo said is only explanation, and I'm interested if this have solved OP's problem. If same thing happens to me, I would like to know how to solve it.

Thanks for the replies, I'm using 5x RX 570, I'll look into getting the HDMI dummy plug, it's just strange that I didn't experience this issue before this update using Win 10 with the same setup.

all of you are noobs, u dont need dummy plug, the creators update effectively has something to do with thats issue, reinstall w10 and deactivate windows update
