Masternode operators have two big challenges: Firstly the lack of tooling to ensure 24/7 operation: There is no superordinate watching tool which helps gathering all the relevant masternode information into one place. There are some out there, but they are separated coin wise. It's getting problematic in case you want to watch different nodes/coins at once. Sure, there are some websites for specific coins, but how to handle them on the go in an easy manner? All in all it's pretty problematic: No alert systems, no monitoring, bad aggregation of all the relevant node data.
Secondly it's pretty difficult to get the wallet up and running (especially on Linux) especially for beginners. Cloning GitHub repositories, compiling the wallet, etc. - all these tasks are not that easy to handle.

We know, this is one factor slowing down the growth of the whole masternode community. This is bad for all the masternode coins out there. Many people decide to use a "shared-masternode-service" and get scammed, which is also bad for the whole community.

That's the point where we join the game! We offer a comprehensively watching tool for all your active nodes on the go (Smartphone, PC, Mac) including an alert system if a node is down or another unpredicted event happened. Get notifications if masternode or staking rewards come up and so on. Our software is now at an advanced beta stage and beginning of Q2 / 2018 we launch the official beta phase for 100 testers.

why than cloning the code from HarvestCoin which is a ugly copy&paste clone from NovaCoin which is a fork from PeerCoin. Same aged codebase of 2014, like all other masternode scams coming and going since 3 month.

"professionals" would (transparently) fork the dash or pivx codebase. That would be a good starting point for a new coin. But not the Nova code from 2014.

Funny I consider doing a project like this. The MN state of things when it comes to guides and tools is pathetic, and if you know linux a little you see that. Also many coins to not have binaries or build guides out for GUI wallets on 17.10 witch in fact is the current version of ubuntu that most people run on desktops. As for servers its fine to focus on 16.04 but wallets should be out for 17.10 for every coin.

BUT after reading or how outdated their code is, on how someone owns all the coins on one address and shit like this I do not consider this trustworthy at all.

I worked for a week+ on a ansible playbook and roles that make it incredible easy to deploy coins, where EVERYTHING is done with automation. Server security, compile or download of binaries. Multiple NODE support on one VPS, even its the same coin using different IP or port. Not yet educated on what coins actually only need a different port. Systemd service AND the coins daemons for each coin all have their own user and do not run as root.

I am playing with the idea of forking a coin that has well maintained code that is up to date and has a easy build chain for current ubuntu versions out. I can actually not code c, c++ (I am a web php, HTML, SCSS, JS, guy) but I do not intend to actually technically do anything exciting I just think about cloning a coin and create a community around master-nodes. People helping themselves out, building a well maintained ansible project for running nodes together. No promotions and stuff like that on discord (or actually I would prefer a open source alternative). A investigation team for spotting scams and crap coins. Would that not be great to have a community of masternode holders when you can talk about every coin objectively. I mean if you hang arround dicord chats of coins, dev for example they have this retarded rule that you are not even allowed to talk about other coins. Its like a sect! And there are so many noobs who need a place to go to not get sucked into scams and crappy MN guides that do not even add the coin to the autostart. As soon as the VPS reboots their node is down.

Not sure what you both are talking about. Its possible and rc.local its a crappy way to do it. A systemd service will make sure the deamon is ALWAYS running, if it crashes or if the VPS reboots. So you need to still restart that from the desktop wallet if its a cold wallet? I am actually not sure about that part and am perfectly fine with admitting that. That does not make me a noob. In fact I bet the way I run my MN is way more professional that 99% of the people who just run a node like the crazy guides tell you, some of them just way run the coin binary not even in demon mode ... as root ... also some guides create the swapfile direclty in the root dir some in /var and some even somewhere else. There is no consistancy and this guides tell you to copy in line by line with is simply annoying, especially for noobs who want ot get up fast. Some coins offer setup sripts that at least make that part easy but mostly in a crappy way with things I mentioned.

Also I could imagine something like a raspberry pie running at home and restarting your nodes if there is a need. I won't believe the fact that a MN takes 24/7 attention. In fact from my experience I just start them and as long as I do not mess around with the server, its all fine. Funny that I just did that for the past week to test my ansible scripts out so I actually had to restart my nodes a lot. I redefinded things and now the daemons actually ONLY get restarted when the config actually changes.

I am not sure that this coins team are working on, some supposed app that makes it easy to setup node. I am gonna claim that what I am doing is better unless they use ansible as well but I guess they are not.

Hi, I have a masternode with friends, and we noticed that rewards seem to be randomly distributed. Is that really the case? or is there something that compensates for those who haven't had reward for a long time?

Masternode rewards are kind of the same as mining you and your friend could have the same amount of hashing power mining same coin and you
could find the block or your friend could there is still come luck involved but by the end of the week/month your rewards will even out.

Im heavily in and actualy my initial coins have a value higher from 1$ at the moment since i multipled them a few times. I will stay for a long time with this one, i even sold some of my ICX, ADA, NEO and some others perspective masternodes to buy more XAP. Im not an idiot who belive that a 100$ investment on some shit coin will buy me a "lambo" but i know when i spot a hidden gem! I strongly belive in this project. Has a huge potential and if you do research to see what are they doing you will be also. I am aware that 95% of high roi masternodes are ponzie schemes and scams with no real purpuse or any project behind. I qould easily multiply my initial investment like with any other insane roi masternodes but this time i didnt dump.. Im just building more masternodes. When this project becomes a working product, (first version will be released very soon), and with some better exchanges it will explode but if you dont invest in masternodes maybe you will not understand the value of this project and the potential of this platform that they are building..

We’re pleased to announce that since launch on March 3rd, 2018, we’ve had 688 masternodes brought online!

FUNDING
The core team started Apollon only three weeks ago, and it just exploded!  We’re self-funded now by our team members, but in order to continue development and pay our people, we need to raise some money from our XAP holdings.  In short, we will be selling very small amounts of XAP every month on a fixed schedule to cover our base development expenses.  However, as revenues for the Masternode Service increase, we will shift from our base XAP holdings over to revenues in order to support the company.  Ultimately, we will reach a point where we can sustain the business through revenues and not have to rely solely on the market dynamics and pricing of the coin in order to build the business. 

COIN PRICE
We have heard from many of you on Discord on the fluctuations in the price of XAP.  While we have no direct control over the market price, we are monitoring the situation closely.  Our primary goal is to create a market economy for the coin outside of masternode purchasing and coin trading.  By launching our Masternode Service in the coming months, we will create that external demand for coin purchases.  While we cannot guarantee that this will have any upward price movement on the coin, it may create a higher buy demand. 

It is also important to address the rumours around price manipulation by bots trading on the CryptoBridge platform using API exploits.  It has been suggested that these bots are involved in causing the current high sell demand on XAP which is driving the price of the coin down.  Apollon has no direct evidence of any bot activity on the coin, however, we have reported to CryptoBridge that our community has flagged this as a possible manipulation that is happening on their platform.  We have not yet heard back from them as to whether or not this is true.  We will continue to monitor the situation and report to you as we learn more. 

EXCHANGE LISTINGS
We are actively seeking additional coin exchange listings. We have paid the listing fee to what we hope will become our third exchange where Apollon can be traded.  We have also contacted additional exchanges and are awaiting their response.  We will report to you as we hear back from the exchanges.

Setting up masternodes really early and having earned them back already, I am quite content to see the project going forward so promisingly. I'll keep following the project and might use my recent additional gains for an extra masternode. The only reason to need the local wallet to be on a VPS, is if you use Apple.  Otherwise, you can skip that section

Big Rocks!  There… we said it.  We’ve got big rocks!  

In every organization, it can be hard to focus.  But it is especially hard to avoid the allure of bright and shiny objects in the exciting and fast moving world of cryptocurrency.  That’s why we’ve created our three big rocks.  

1. Ensure freedom to operate

2. Release the software

3. Ensure the integrity of the XAP blockchain

The purpose to these is simple.  When any Apollon team member picks up a task at their desk, they have to ask themselves one simple question, “Does this task address one of these three big rocks?”  If it does, then proceed, if it doesn’t then you know you’re off course.

1.    Ensure freedom to operate

LEGAL UPDATE
Countries around the world are struggling with how to classify and regulate cryptocurrencies and cryptocurrency-related businesses.  In some cases, it’s perfectly cut and dry.  For example, “cryptocurrency exchange’s” have to be licensed as any other currency exchange and are regulated as such.  However, in other cases, when a cryptocurrency is created by the originating team in order to draw customers and/or capital to the project, many other questions have be answered.  As we work our way through these questions, above all, it is the Apollon’s team’s duty to make decisions and take action that ensure that Apollon has freedom to operate within today’s laws, and within any potential laws that might come into effect in the future.  

In order to achieve freedom to operate, the originating Apollon team has hired a legal team to review XAP and the Apollon software project to provide a written opinion that answers three questions:

COULD ANY OF THE XAP COIN SALES BE CONSIDERED SECURITIES SALES?  This surrounds the transactions that occur between the originating teams that create a digital currency and their purchasers.  Most countries, are simply falling back to existing law and defining things such as ICO’s as securities purchases rather than “token” purchases.  This is simply because the capital raised through the token sale is deployed by the recipient in order to build the business, whose plan is designed to drive value to the tokens.  If the business is successful, it will drive the tokens value, if it is not, the tokens value is expected to decline.  This is also how shares in the business work, so many countries are equating tokens to shares.  The problem is that the investments have not followed the law on equity investing into private companies, i.e. requiring an investor to be accredited if they are not family-related or a close personal friend.  At this time, we are asking whether or not some of the transactions that occurred in the very beginning of XAP, could possibly have been considered securities sales.  If the answer is yes, we will move immediately to remedy those transactions, if it is no, then we’re good.

COULD XAP BE DEFINED AS A “PYRAMID, PONZI OR MATRIX SCHEME”? XAP was not created with the intention of being a scheme.   And whilst we do not believe that XAP can be defined as such, it is important to ask this question and receive a written legal opinion on the matter and to share that with our community.  

HOW SHOULD THE PREMINED COINS BE HANDLED?  The originating team holds all of the premine coins in their possession.  You’re welcome to check the originating wallets on the blockchain explorer and it will show that these coins have been handled very responsibly.  To date, all premine coins the originating team have used have been for activities directly related to support the acceptance of XAP, the distribution of XAP and the development of the Apollon platform.  However, in order to ensure that the Apollon software has complete freedom to operate, it must hold itself at arms distance from the premined XAP coins with the legal structure in place to support that separation.  This may seem at odds with the teams original proposal and intention, however, Apollon seeks to provide a software platform that supports thousands of masternodes made up of various coins.  If for any reason in the future, laws were put into place that would put pressure on the XAP currency, if the two are not separated, then the pressure on XAP could put Apollon’s business in jeopardy.  This, obviously, cannot be allowed to happen.  

This all may seem like WAY TOO MUCH INFORMATION, however, our team feels it’s extremely important to let you know that we taking the necessary steps to ensure the long-term success of both XAP and Apollon.  

TEAM UPDATE
You are probably asking yourself at this point, when are we going to meet the rest of the originating team?  The answer is “soon”.  However, as you can see from the above legal challenges we are working on solving, there are several answers we need and actions that need to be taken before we can expose all of the originating teams identities.  We want to ensure you that is our intention to reveal the identities of the originating team, however, doing so before we ensure that the proper legal structure is in place and the proper actions have been taken to ensure that the project is fully compliant with the law, could potentially jeopardize XAP, Apollon and them.  We ensure you that by keeping their identities under wraps until the legal ducks are in order are in the best interests of all who are involved in the project, including any of you who may have purchased XAP coins thus far.

2.    Release the software

NODEBUILDER v0.2 beta WAS RELEASED TODAY!

Beta’s are kind of like having your first baby.  For 9 months, you’re happy and excited, you think it’s going to be all cupcakes, rainbows and starry eyed moments… and then… IT arrives…. this... monster, this… devil, this… creature from the swamp that…. just... needs... and poops.... and needs and cries aND Needs ANd EATS AND CRIES AND POOPS AND NEEDS AND…. and completely changes your life and doesn’t give you a moment’s peace for the next 30 years!

But… you love that little baby more than life itself.  You can’t imagine how such a thing can bring so much love into your life.  And that’s what’s true of babies, they bring so much love with them, that you can forgive them of anything.  <dreamy-stare-off-into-the-sky>ahhhhh…. </dreamy-stare-off-into-the-sky>   Now where were we… oh yes, the beta.

The beta is actually going much better than we expected!  There has been very little crying, Markus and Philipp are actually getting enough sleep and the poop’s have been relatively clean (none of the messy up the back stuff… parents, you know that of which I speak).

The primary hiccups have been surrounding the communications between the QT wallet and the NodeBuilder app.  These communications and restarts have been cleaned up for a second round of testing by our beta test group.  

The first group of beta testers was 13 testers (15 were invited) and we have invited another 17 into this weeks release for a total of 30 testers.  We have sent out emails to everyone who has been selected for this round of testing, they should be in your inbox now.  

For those who are still on the waitlist, we appreciate your patience and we hope to release to even more of you next week.

We do not have an final release date available at this time.  As the beta progresses, this will become clearer and we will keep you updated.

XAP MARKET PROGRESS

The total value of masternodes online is now close to $3,000,000 USD!!  

 - As of April 5th, 2018, 1,000 masternodes were brought online by the community.  As of the writing of this update, the total stands at 1,048!  

 - The original team had set out the goal for these numbers to be hit by June of this year… they’ve been hit almost a full three months ahead of time… not too shabby.  

XAP CALCULATIONS

It was brought up in #general chat on discord that the calculations for the XAP reward structure may be incorrect.  We are currently testing this question in our testnet and will respond to the community with an answer shortly.

We've released beta v0.3 today!  We've added our first coin outside of Apollon to the platform, Stipend, welcome aboard guys!  The NodeBuilder itself is quite stable now with only a few minor quirks holding it back, so we're getting closer to a full release.  In addition the payment system is being built out now and we'll have recurring billing payments coming out soon.  We just invited another 20 users to the beta and we're pumped to get their feedback.  This is gonna be big!

Are you talking about GIN? What other similar projects do you know? Apollon will do more than GIN does and has a established large community, about 2000 nodes running, which is one of the highest number of MN coins. The devs are dedicated to the project and creating the company structure now. I have yet to see a more committed team than this one. Have a read of the whitepaper and come back.

It's been a busy week as a few of you guys probably noticed. We were working really hard on our updated wallet and it's finally done.
The new wallet version should, amongst other improvements, stabilize the masternode payout frequency that a lot of you inquired about.

The update will be mandatory by block 155000 (~2 days from now). It is very important that we have a majority of updated nodes in the network so please take a moment to update your nodes and wallets as soon as you get the chance.


The changes include:
- fixed some potential exploits a lot of other coins were suffering from as well
- removed darksend features from the QT-wallet
- removed inoperable remove/delete buttons from masternode tab
- updated reward structure to address hyper-inflation (more news tomorrow)

As you are all aware the team are at present investigating the current issue with the chain being stuck on block 155290.

We are working our way to a resolution of this issue but whilst we do it is important we protect the community from inadvertently losing any of their coins.

In addition to this we are also anticipating a further updated wallet release to fix the current issue.

Therefore as a result of this, and to protect our community, we have asked Crypto-bridge, Coin Exchange and Graviex to keep deposits and withdrawals closed for the time being.

Once we have a fix we will release the wallet to the community and following a short period, once we confirm the chain is operating as expected, we will work with the exchanges to open deposits and withdrawals ASAP.

We would like to thank you all for your forbearance and patience whilst we resolve this issue.

- Mandatory wallet update 1.0.5 to fix exploits at Block 155,000 that resulted in a hard fork
- Chain stuck due to retargeting issues
- Identified further exploits that are still being abused

- Mandatory wallet update to 1.0.6 which will result in a hard fork at block 157,000 that will be used until the coinswap is processed

As you are all now aware we are forking to a new chain at block 157k. At the time of writing we are at block 156978 so the fork is coming soon.

I would like to bring your attention to the reduction in rewards once we hit block 157k. We announced this yesterday but feel it is worth mentioning again.

Once we hit 157k the block rewards will reduce to 1 per block. We have taken this step to prevent the bad actors on our chain from benefitting any further as we move towards the swap.

We are working on a plan to mitigate this impact to our genuine coin holders and we are expecting to provide further details in the coming days.

Once the fork is complete and we are sure the chain is stable we will work with the exchanges to update their wallets and open withdrawals. Unfortunately we cannot provide an accurate timescale for when this will be completed as the exchanges will process our requests as soon as they are able depending upon their workload – we will endeavour to keep you all updated however as this progresses.

Further to our updates yesterday we would like to bring you all up to speed on the latest position regarding the coinswap and the steps we are taking to protect the long-term coinholder value.

Now that the chain appears to be reasonably stable we have decided to release the new wallet to the exchanges.

The exchanges now have the new wallets and are progressing their updates.

We have asked each exchange to provide a timescale to update the wallets but please bear in mind that this can take up to seven days to complete – of course we will be working with them to improve on timescales wherever possible.

Once each exchange has completed their updates we will agree a date with them for opening withdrawals ONLY. This is to ensure those bad actors holding exploited coins cannot send them to the exchange and sell them on.

As a final update we would like to assure you all that we are making good progress on the new wallets and we hope to be in a position soon to give more information regarding the coinswap steps and estimated timescales.

I believe the feature is still there but I don't know how to enable it with the updated wallet. Try contacting the support team in their Discord channel and I'm quite sure that they will be able to help you on that.

By the way, the swap went smoothly from my side and I received my coins (with the additional reward) in about 15 minutes without any issue. Must say that this is one of the swaps the I experienced with no hiccups along the process.

Your wallet should stake as long as you have it unlocked. XAP has recently gone through a coin swap. You need to make sure you have the newest wallet (v2.0.1). Go XAP's discord and you can find everything you need if you have not already done the coin swap.

If you do not intend depositing any XAP today on CB I would still recommend you visit the exchange and create a new deposit address ASAP.
This should avoid any issues if you send coins to CB at a later date and do not remember to take this step.
We would also recommend people send a test amount first as a general rule for any transactions to an exchange.

Do you have any purpose for your project? Or do you only selling master nodes and hoping to provide a passive income for the people? I said this because I didn't find the whitepaper about your projects.

You can always check the purpose of their project by reading carefully the things listed in their OP and in their website. You don't have to ask anything about it because all of it is present in their website/ANN thread. And if you find out that some information is missing, just go with their Discord channel^[1] and ask some questions there. There are a lot of people lurking in their channel that could definitely answer your question.

Regarding their whitepaper, they had a business model update last July and because of that, they need to update everything together with their whitepaper. They are currently doing the work for it but it takes time and they are still gathering information about it. Again, going in their Discord channel would help find all the information that you needed.

As far as I heard this projects do not have competitors? There are those that partially do what they plan to do, but no one completely? Is there already a minimum working product?

They do have competition. $GIN and $GTM are the main ones at this point.

I noticed that there no latest development about their launch of the bounty program. Any update dev for the bounty campaign? Also, I didn't totally understand how these platform can be more useful in the future.

If I'm not mistaken, there's no plan about the bounty program being discussed in their Discord channel. When that's the case, it is safe to assume that there will be no bounty programs for this coin in the very near future.

As for you second question, in essence, the main purpose of this coin/platform is to provide people a very easy way to setup a masternode with just few clicks using their Node-builder. You may need to read more about masternode coins and their ecosystem for you to understand clearly the usefulness that this coin can provide in the future.  ;)

Cat A coins - These masternodes have been in contact with our community coin research team. The community coin research team endeavours to establish four core business details in order to understand where the business is within it’s life cycle. The team looks for

1) companies with a visible team who have verifiable online profiles

2) are a registered corporation or foundation

3) have a business plan that outlines a clear path to revenue and endeavours to reach a sustainable cash flow position, and

4) have a detailed pro-forma to share.

Cat B coins - These master nodes have been selected to be supported by NodeBuilder platform by our community. No due diligence has been performed on these coins.

Cat C coins - Other coins listed below have been added as they are listed on major websites such as master masternodes.online, masternodes.pro, etc.

NodeBuilder Update v0.2.2 is now available for Windows and Mac. Please restart your NodeBuilder to auto-update your installation.

This update fixes a critical performance bug which found it's way into the codebase with the last v0.2.1 update.

Another subtle but important announcement from them is that they also added new coins (MEDIC, DEVIANT, COIN2PLAY) in their platform last September 15. The team is really progressing well with their platform and is trying to add several coins (on different tiers or categories) every week. This post of yours is quite vague and lacks credit for it. Who gave this statement and what does it do with XAP? Is this from XAP development team?

We're committing to accepting only XAP on the platform with the release of RYON, currently estimated to be on or before December 31st.

We're also committing to finding a solution to reduce the "pain of paying" long-term for the NodeBuilder platform as a whole.  We don't know what that solution will be yet.

The RYON launch has continued well and we're acquiring nodes at a good rate.  The price of the coin has been up and down (what else is new?) and I give a background as to why we sell our revenues into the market.  Lastly, we'll be shutting down our HOSTED node service and just operating our RYON service going forward.  If you haven't already, please move your HOSTED nodes over to RYON before January 16th, 2019.

Watching your web platform i see that hosting a masternode will cost 99 cent a month actually... But looking at xap masternodes reward, It seems less that the actual montly cost...

Does this means that running a xap masternode it's not profitable even on xap own platform? Or for xap masternodes follow terms that I'm not aware about?

sorry to resurrect an old topic, but i wanted to know if anyone knew anything recent on this cryptocurrency? I'm interested in hearing whats going on with it, i read through the post thread, and it does indeed appear dead, but i've seen the currency on livecoin, and even inquired about it with them. All they have said is that there's network trouble and that's why the wallet is disabled. but it looks to be traded still, and masternodes appear to be running. in fact, i have the wallet on my mac, and added in the masternode addresses, and now it appears to be syncing. please no shade, just trying to see if there's any life left in these old bones. Thanks. I wouldn't mind volunteering either if there was anything i could do to help it out.
