What does everybody else pay in electricity and where are you located?

Not the best but could be worse, at highish altitude so it doesn't get very hot here.

Our rate (counting service and transfer fee etc.. is between $0.11-$0.13 depending on the time of year and what mood the electric company is in. We will be looking into installing a natural gas generator this summer to make use of the gas well on the property and hopefully get at least half of our power free by 2019.... I really hope that works out. :)

Con Edison is a rip off.   You use $100 of elec,  you get $350 bill.


I mined BTC a few years back, made $1000 in bitcoin, my electric was $1000.

fuck them bastards.

I was paying 8.9 cents per kilowatt and Con Edison charges 13.4 cents per Kilowatt delivering them plus taxes and fees about .35 per kilowatt.

You are guys lucky that you are living in the place with low electricity rate. Here in the Philippines, the rate is almost 0.27 cents. If we are mining with AMD cards almost 50% electricity bill, unlike Nvidia card that you can lower the watts while the hashrate is higher.

AMD cards even if it's undervolted it can only reduce a small power consumption.

Do you think guys it's still profitable to mine ethereum with AMD cards? I use some calculator, but it takes years before that I can break even and get the return amount of my investment.

It all depends if AMD decides to release mining specific cards. I have a few of the Sapphire 480's meant just for mining and they are less than impressive. Nvidia cards seem to be where it is at!

Never tested yet mining cards specific like p104-100 or p106-100 There are many sellers here in my country about that card the hashrate is high and the price is fair, but it would be hard to resale these cards because it's not a gaming card. They are made only for mining purposes and miners prefer gaming graphics card because the price of cards also increasing due to low supply and higher demand.

So for me, I just choose if what is the best to choose, and I can resale them with the higher price.

Currently in Northern Virginia, I am paying .127 per Kwh.  I feel like its on the high end of medium in the United States. Although previously I lived in Hawaii where it usually was 3x or 4x times as much so it feels really cheap.

0.14 in southeast US - feels high... bill usually isn't too bad though. ;) Gotta love undervolting!

About seven cents per kilowatt here in Northwest PA. I used to pay around 10 cents per kw in South Carolina, nice change moving to PA. It's also been relatively cold this year so the few miners I have left after selling most off have been running with no temp issues. Nice for heating the garage when the temps are in the teens or below.

I am in Michigan and i pay .135 for the first 17kw/h per day and then .15 after that. There are some new plans that might reduce my rates so i might be trying those soon. I wish i had that cheap power some of you get.

Where at in the northwest? I didn't realize how lucky we had it here! If you check out the article I posted in OP, we were just reduced to 5.8c

Man, how do you guys keep your mining operations afloat with such high rates...

You guys are very lucky because your country's electricity was very cheap. I also lived here in the Philippines and we are ranging from 26 to 27 cents dollars per KWh.

If there is a difficulty bomb released the first affected are us because of this high electricity cost. This is the reason why i quit mining.

$0.044 (USD) with delivery charge brings it up to $0.06

It was $.07 USD, but it looks like its gone down to $.055 USD for the next 2 years after our township worked out a better deal with the local providers.

0,13$ in Europe.. Still a bit high :(

If you "drill down" that site can come up with some useful info, but price WITHIN A STATE can vary a lot.
Example, most of the Seattle area pays 12 cents/kwh more or less, go 150 miles east into Chelan or Douglas counties and your RESIDENTIAL rate is right about 3 cents/kwh (small business rate almost identical, and "large" business/industrial rates in both counties AND in Grant county next door can get under 2.5).

The largest concentration of cryptocoin mining in the USA is almost definitely in these 3 counties, as they're the 3 LOWEST COST ELECTRIC locations in the US, even for us "small fry".
Grant is the worst for small folks, as the residential and "small" business rates are around 4.6 cents/kwh.

It's hard finding anything less than 5 cents/kwh for INDUSTRIAL level rates anywhere else - and tends to only happen in small pockets near hydropower dams (which is where pretty much all the power generated for the 3 "land of low cost power" counties comes from, each county PUD owns 1 or 2 LARGE Columbia River power dams - note that the Grand Coulee dam (federal owned) is on the border of Grant and Okanogon counties on the Columbia as well, and there are a few other federal-owned large power dams along the Columbia in Washington on the part of the Columbia that is the border between Washington and Oregon).

Note that these figures are "all up" everything included, NOT just the "base rate" - there are places I've lived (like Alliant Energy territory in Iowa) where the base rate is LESS THAN HALF THE FINAL COST most of the year due to the surcharges for stuff like "fuel cost adjustment" and "energy transportation fee" and such.
Con Edison sounds like more of the same, but even worse.
