Title: [BlockChain & PeerBet Withdrawal] BitCoin Information Faucet [Newbie Section]
Post by: Mitchell on October 09, 2013, 09:48:39 PM
Hello persons in the Newbie Section,

I thought it would be fair that you guys could also see this topic, so I decided to post it here too. Anyway, welcome to my faucet topic!
My faucet was the first one that implemented an easy to use PeerBet withdrawal system and a fun way to get BitCoins through a puzzle.

http://i.imgur.com/STZom32.png (http://www.bitcoininformation.info/faucet.php)

Click here to go to the faucet (http://www.bitcoininformation.info/faucet.php)

Payout

The faucet pays out BTC0.00000050 minimum and BTC0.00001 maximum. This is randomly selected.

Payout Information

BlockChain Withdraw: The BTC will be send when you hit the minimum of 5430 Satoshi's. When 10 people reach this minimum we payout. This will be checked every 30 minutes and you can requesting a payment every hour!

PeerBet Widthdraw: Fill in your name and the faucet will send you your payment right away!

Prize Win

There is a 1 out of 10 chance that you get the Prize Win.
If you get it, your payout will be multiplied by 3! This means that you get: BTC0.00000150 to BTC0.00003000!

Special

There is also a puzzle faucet (PeerBet withdraw only) with which you can earn another BTC0.00001! I believe I am the first to made one. :)

Just click here to visit it (http://www.bitcoininformation.info/puzzles/puzzle.php).

About me

I'm Mitchell, currently 19, studying IT and the creator and owner of BitCoinInformation.info. I have been creating websites since I was 12 and always liked to code. I have been using the BlockChain API a lot for my faucet and I thought that it would be awesome to add PeerBet to my withdrawal methods. I might even add more later on!

I use BitAds to sell my adspace, it counts unique ip's and you can always bid on them:

Other News

I have decided to close the faucet for now. There is no ad revenue and i cannot run a faucet without it. It costs me to much money to keep it running from my own pocket.

I had a great time giving away Bitcoins and supporting the Bitcoin community. If you want to donate to me, this is my donation address: 115TJLNHbc4opemg4k22Liu4qjFjS1UpiY (http://blockchain.info/address/115TJLNHbc4opemg4k22Liu4qjFjS1UpiY)

I like the puzzle faucet, it provides something fun other than just boring captchas.
I encourage you to make more game-based faucets :)

PeerBet is now using CloudFlare which fucks up API calls. This means I cannot transfer funds from my PeerBet account to someone else. I have e-mailed them and disabled CloudFlare on my website for now. This is because the CloudFlare service isn't stable at this moment which fucks up my website. Let's hope everything will be quickly resolved.

I am very sorry for this.

Thanks. I try to keep my payout as high as possible. The more ad revenue / donations I get, the higher the payout will be.
If you have any comments or suggestions, please do tell me.

I tweaked the referral script a bit. If someone used your referral address, you can also request within that same hour (I fucked that up. Sorry). Also, if someone uses your referral link, that referral address will be saved for 2 hours, so if you are lucky, you can get two/three payments.

Total PeerBet Payments send: 11076
That is quite a lot. Are you guys enjoying this withdraw possibility?

Hello everyone,

It seems that I keep getting 403 errors for no reason at all. I have already contacted my hosting provider, but they won't reply till tomorrow (you know, time difference and stuff). I hope this gets fixed quickly, but until then, please bear with me, the website will be back as soon as possible!

Apparently I use to much server power and there are to many people hitting my website. There are multiple IP's who hit my website over 200 times in the last 24 hours. That doesn't make any sense.
I am trying to work things out with my hosting provider. I might even have to move to a VPS. I hope my budget can handle that.

Thanks guys. I am thinking of counting the amount of visits per IP. If they reach over 50 they will get blocked or something.

The website is temporarily up so that I can change my code (thanks my hosting provider for that, they are great!).

And we are back! I have merged the puzzle faucet and the normal faucet together. Increased the interval between balance and payment checks. I also increased the caching factor and bot preventing factor on CloudFlare. If you have any problems with my website, please do tell me.

I will be working on the website for a while, to decrease API calls and things like that even more.
Thank you guys for patiently waiting!

Hello everyone,

The site is down once again. I have already contacted the support but it's Sunday, so please bear with me. If this happens again I will either buy a VPS or sell everything. Will see.

Once again, I am very sorry for this.

And we are back! They disabled the website because of to big error log files. Well, I found the problem, deleted it, removed the error logs and they enabled the website once again!

I will donate some BTC to the faucets later on.
Thank you guys for patiently waiting!

Is the payout quite low?
Yes. I have decreased it a bit, because I couldn't keep up. I gave away more then I get from ads (and that is what I use to pay the faucet from). Still, this is one of the highest paying faucets and we have a PeerBet withdrawal possibility ;D

There was a small double spend problem (don't ask me how it happened, because I have no idea), but it has been fixed and the BlockChain withdraws have been enabled again.
I would like to thank the owner of LandOfBitcoin.com, because he helped me through this mess.

(continuing this thread here instead of the more general topic from which it started)
Well guys, why do you think the payout is so low? Not because I don't want to give something, but because I haven't been getting any advertisement revenue lately. I cannot keep throwing BitCoins at people. I am already very limited on my BitCoin supply. Instead of nagging, try to help me out. Be happy that someone is giving something to you.

I will remove removed the Captcha and try to fill up my faucets again with what I have left I filled up the PeerBet faucet. My TX fee has always been that low. I never have had a problem with that and I won't increase it, but I have increased it. Now just wait patiently for your free BitCoins.

A few suggestions:
  • the tx fee should be 0.0001 per 1000 bytes, so it doesn't always have to be increased
  • can you remove the alert box when the puzzle is solved, it seems unnecessary and requires an extra click.
  • can you clarify your referral system, does it only work for blockchain rewards and not peerbet awards?
  • add a link to this bitcointalk thread from the faucet page to encourage more feedback from users

And to end on a positive note, thanks for such a great faucet  :D

  • I don't like calculating so I set the fee at fixed 0.00025 BTC. That should be good enough for now and I can always increase it later on. :P
  • Hm, yeah I can understand that. Removed.
  • Good point, will add that to the page! Added.
  • Smart suggestion. Will add that too. Added.

Thanks for the compliment dude!

Why not try to also sell the puzzle image itself as a ad spot? An ad spot that the user actually needs to interact with would be worth a lot more than a static ad that users are accustomed to tuning out.

I still want to do that, but haven't had time to fix a bug in the puzzle script / the willpower to start looking for it. It cuts away a part of the image, not that handy.

Hi... you should put a custom url ad inside your bitsad.net ad... That way you will get more hits on it and it will look more appealing to advertisers...

Also, drop the price... 0.01 btc a day is a high. If you get 3 advertisers giving you 0.005 btc a day you will make more then... :)

Whatever happens just know we really appreciate you and your site - the faucet is no doubt one of the best that the Bitcoin community has ever seen, and just a plain great site! Looking around at the other pages on the site really shows how much work and dedication you have put into it. Great work!

The faucet isn't working properly. The balance isn't updating every 45 minutes anymore and submitting the form results in an error message about insufficient bitcoins. But if you win the 3x, it doesn't result in the error and falsely claims you win the amount, and also adds you to the recent payments list, even though it doesn't really transfer anything.

I will look into it and fix it as soon as possible.

EDIT 1: Peerbet has changed their API, so I will to change my script too.
EDIT 2: Balance update is fixed. I will now fix the price win bug.
EDIT 3: Should be fixed now. I will try to add some funds as soon as possible.
EDIT 4: Sorry for the reply earlier. My back hurts like hell and that doesn't have a positive influence on my mood.

I know it was hard keeping your faucet filled given the increasing price of bitcoin.  However, now that peerbet takes a lot of alt coins such as litecoin have you considered shifting your faucet to one of them?  It may open you to less botting and your coins might go further.

Thanks and good luck!

For of all thanks ;)
I know they have added more coins. They changed their API because of it and that fucked up my website, haha. Anyway, I don't plan on changing to other coins. Because, well, I only have Bitcoins and I don't see any reason to switch to another coin.
