I thought this might get some press for Bitcoin so i will be managing this effort. the idea of bitcoin donations is to give them out to ORGANISATIONS, and get them to promote bitcoin. not give them to established community members to transfer to FIAT to then donate to the organisation. Next time i will not follow thru with an idea until i have the board of Bitcoin director approve my plan. so let me get this straight. there is no prior agreement for them to accept bitcoin or even know what bitcoin is(as far as your aware)[1] he doesnt know you personally[2]. so i take it this bitcoin address does not belong to any of the organisers, but is a wallet with a private key owned by yourself. and you wonder why asking for a donation for a good cause gets such high attention. its to help ensure-assure people that the end parties actually receive the funds and that the funds dont end up in some random persons pocket, never helping the cause or the bitcoin community. i would suggest next time dont just pick a random charity/organisation from a google search and then request donations by flashing a few hyperlinks about. try contacting the organisation and get them setup with bitcoin first. once its established the charity or organisation itself is accepting bitcoins, the donations will start flowing.. and try not to get negatively emotional about people not willing to donate unless they see proof of intent/involvement.. Now, if you really want to help, try to get some NPO/NGO to embed a Bitcoin donation option onto their website and Bitcoin 100 will send them $1,000 USD worth of bitcoins if they accept. There are caveats in place, one of which Bitcoin 100 isn't going to donate to an NPO that only has a Facebook page. They would need to have a website that's not new and have some sort of traffic to their site, with being archived on the Wayback Machine an added plus. Also, can not be religious-based.
