There were some problems yesterday in Binance exchange, I'm quite sure everyone knows about them by now.
But with these problems another scam attempt is rolling currently.
Somebody (possibly several users) is trying to impersonate binance CEO on twitter and he is offering a giveaway (but user must first to send eth).
He is using same name and same picture in twitter profile and usually replies to the actual tweets of original account of the CEO.

This is valid for almost every single twitter account related to cryptos or technology. Even Elon Musk is being impersonated by those scammers.

I would just avoid the comments section since every top comment is someone making asking for ETH.

Only illiterate can be a scam by the impersonator. It is just like the same as bitcoin doubler if you send 0.001 you will receive 0.01btc.

So, I think people right now are smart they cannot easily fool other people who support and use binance.

Hope that people are smart before they enter to cryptocurrency.

There are many hackers and scammers these days unlike before. Just like the phishing site with fake electrum wallet.

Right now we should be careful in scammers and hackers just to protect our investment and don't feed them because they will stay if they found they can just easily earn money by scamming or hacking.

Scammers are everywhere and its normal for them to ride with the flow if they do see incident like this ex. Binance issue then they would really use up this thing to make advantage for those people who do support it and might easily got victimized or easily believe with this scenario but as a smart person you can able to detect with just your common sense that they are just simply scamming out people.Who the hell would sent out eth just to claim some money?If you think up carefully you will answer that question for sure.

I have caught unguarded for a minute by that scam, under the CEO tweet about Binance announcement. I thought it’s legit and wanted to part for it rushing because of excitement, then I stop and calm myself down and revisit it. So that’s it, it is a different account that copied CEO’s profile. I’m not so careful and it’s a mistake. This is a lesson learn, but it needs action not just word.

If they are really binance wouldn't they just send compensation money to their customers directly instead of having them send them money first and then sending back a larger amount? That essentially consists of a investment scheme which I don't think they're even legally allowed to run, even though it may seem like a giveaway.

Anyways it's obvious that it's an impersonator account. Reporting the tweet will do its job. And the CEO of binance literally has the "not giving away crypto" part in his name as a warning. Anyone who falls for must not know how to read.

Also previously, I saw a similar scam with a yobit twitter impersonator, doing the same thing, claiming to be giving away from coins but in reality scamminsg people.

And only lazy people will be fooled by this kind of scams or some greedy people who believe that there is some kind magic in cryptocurrency that when you send some ETH you will get more ETH ::)

Giveaways make me excite. But if you are asked to give even small amount first, 1000% sure, it's a scam.
Does someone happen to know the ETH address the scammer is referring to? It's a bit significant I guess to know how many individuals (if there is) were fooled by this scammer.

That's obviously a scam watch out for too good to be true deals in the internet cause it has a high chance that it will turn out to be a scam. If you see bitcoin doubler and abnormal deal that could make somebody rich in an instant avoid it before it's too late.

Mostly they post it along with their magic words with the tweets of famous account in Twitter, or they will give some links where you will be redirected to the payment page.

And some of them has balance already which has been received from these lazy people and scammer's believers and didn't think twice if it's legit or not.

It may not be a funny matter, but I can't help myself and laugh at how ridiculously fake everything looks, but noobs still fall for it. I have been active basically everywhere for years now, and never have I seen people with a lower IQ.

The crypto 'community' is the lowest of the lowest when it comes to common sense, ability to separate fiction from reality, calculate risks, and the list goes on. It's literal an all time low on each and every aspect.

Do we freaking need to spoon feed everyone here with online safety etiquette in crypto land? If you fall for this, you're an utter noob and mentally challenged. Cloud mining. Bitconnect. Twitter scams. It's all thriving........

That's the reality unfortunately.
Crypto market is not regulated in any way, anyone can join and nobody is supervising the transactions.
You just need an internet connection and some money (maybe not even that) and that's it.
Because the number of stupid people exceeds by far the number of intelligent people in the world and because the crypto market is so open, the result is obvious: a lot of idiots join the market.
There are plenty of people thinking that they could invest 100$ and become millionaires overnight. So they are looking for "opportunities" like the one from the topic.
And of course where is demand there will be an offer for such things. People working in the shadows will not pass such an abundance of fools.

Just people are not understanding how can they send higher amount if you send the minimum amount to them. Just think twice before falling for these scams. We have to be very careful with these nobody will ask you for funds just be careful.

I'm afraid that even spoon feeding won't work entirely. Main point of importance is that regardless of how "knowledgeable" the current crypto generation is, the problem remains the same due to the immense influx of newbies entering this market. That's exactly the reason scams manage to remain relevant, because they just know that the constant influx of newbies will make sure they have enough business to entertain themselves with, and that for many more years to come. The best way to learn for newbies is unfortunately to fall for a scam, because that will surely open their eyes. As long as they don't lose money, they won't be seeing a problem in anything.

Lmao did anybody fell for this ? You really gotta be a special kind of idiot if you can fall victim to this.How difficult it is to grasp the basic logic ? We have came too far off the barter system and only money is traded in exchange of goods and not in exchange of money.

Every single exchange now has these sorts of scammers trying to feed off their customer base. Binance is just one of them. Even the CEO seems to be aware of this scam.

Surprisingly as it sounds I actually saw a thread with someone falling for the exact same scam, except on yobit's account. Some people believe in this stuff because they want to make a quick profit and haven't done their research.

Before acting on any announcements that is supposedly official, you always have to research. Does the twitter account have the right number of followers and history of tweets? It's easy to spot these impersonators if you just invest like 1 minute of your time.

Of course the ceo knows. That's why his id ends with "(not giving crypto away)". But people sometimes see what they want to see, not what is real.

That's what happens when you bring in marketing tactics into crypto. People forget that this is supposed to be a space for you to control your own funds, unshackle yourselves from the tyranny of the state and of banking, etc, etc, etc.

But no, let's all marvel at the new suits and ties, jump onto their bandwagons and lap up their promises. They're giving away the future, and we should grab our share of riches, why don't we?

What's fascinating here is that if you check the tweet of those scammers, there are a lot of replies that provide false proof of them receiving the coin. Dig deeper into those accounts and you'll be provided by evidence that they are just bots that are programmed to reply in those tweets so that it will look like a real giveaway. You can also check the specific address mentioned in the scam tweet and you'll be surprised that it received countless amount of coins, meaning people got actually scammed by it.

People should be very careful with these type of tactics. Bad people are always coming up with unique ideas to take advantage of those who are greedy.

Anyone falling into this type of scam is a fool; sorry for the bad language but it is still the truth. How on earth will Changpeng Zhao give out free coins and ask for coins in return. What a perfer planned out scam; just after the rumored attack on Binance. I didn't know that Binance does charity  ::) There is NO free money in this world, its painful but its high time people start getting used to it.  

I think those scammers are using "tweetstool" that you can automate's your comment, follow, likes and retweet.

And I think he can handle many twitter accounts to make his post look legit to fool other people that they are legit...

Just like what happens in blakchat niche if you are promoting a fake website and you wanted to make good leads you need to lie to many people just to make money.

The bad thing those people are improving their skills to scam anyone. So if you are not smart, you are not checking and reading carefully you can be a scam and lose your money forever.

Hope that twitter could improve their security and they don't allow twitter accounts with the same photo or image.

People are really trying all sorts of stops to try and get rich fast without putting some work into it, good to see that Binance  acted fast upon this because people would have really lost a lot of money on a cheap scam as this one and Binance reputation would have been on the line, just hope people who fell for this were compensated in some way.

Only the one who want to get rich quick might fall under such scams as it is clear that it can't be anything more than another scam because to giveaway free coins why would you need to send eth to them.

People without a common sense might loss on this. Have seen many other fake accounts on Twitter. ..
