Title: A moderator deleted my post for no reason
Post by: Libabit on March 11, 2018, 07:14:59 PM
I take part to an airdrop and It was required to post the proof of authentication on the ann of it.

After few hours a mod deleted my post and I don't understand why, because it wasn't spam and the airdrop required me to do it for dimostrate that I am not a bot.

I don't know what it is the reason  ???

Are you sure it was a mod, and not the programme manager?

Yes ,I am sure. They sent me this message:

"A reply of yours, quoted below, was deleted by a Bitcoin Forum moderator. Posts are most frequently deleted because they are off-topic, though they can also be deleted for other reasons. In the future, please avoid posting things that need to be deleted."

"some reason"

Maybe he doesn't know the reason for your post so he removes it.
Or he/she find it out of the blue, regular airdrops are only asking for some info from you and asking you to do some task before qualifying to their project, and order to let them know you are not bot is by catcha. Somethings fishy their----

I am fairly sure that it is against forum rules for campaigns to require you to post things like 'joined' etc. That's probably why it was deleted, although if this is the case I'm surprised that the whole thread was not deleted.

Perhaps someone complained about your post or the moderator considered it senseless and spam. This sometimes happens, and not always for objective reasons. People can be wrong.

Posts like "Joined", "Interesting", "Support", or other simple one word are most likely regarded as a spam by mod, even if the thread required to post something as a condition for airdrop.

Are you sure  that only your post is deleted instead of whole thread.

Actually airdrops thread, or giving incentives for posting in particular thread can be cause of ban. Please go through below post for more clarity.

Giveaway threads are not allowed (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=434310.0)  by theymos

PS: Mods are not deleting anything for no reasons, It is shame people using this forum do not want to take pain to read the rules, when they are clearly pinned.

It seems there was quite a lot of deletions by mod hands recently. A lot of experienced users are missing large numbers of posts as well. I guess campaign managers should manually count your posts in designated campaign time frame, but I am also quite sure that some of them will not bother :)

The post clearly specify to post the proof of authentication and so I did. I didn't write any joined and co. :-\ .

I also take part to other 2-3 airdrops with the same requirement and that posts weren't deleted.

I was reading that link that you post :

"Specifically, you are not allowed to give people any incentive to post insubstantial posts in your threads. You can't offer to pay people who post their addresses, usernames, etc. You can do giveaways off-site and link to the giveaway page in a thread, but you can't give people any bonus for replying to your thread."

I don't think that I broke that rule because who open the topic about that airdrop clearly specified to post a proof of authentication on that topic for a control purpose of who joined that airdrop and for demostrate that the datas that you sent to them on google form belongs to the same person.

It's not only because mods deleted many posts or trashed lot of topics. Users are missing lot of their posts because theymos recounted it recently.
I did a recount of post counts earlier today. There are several bugs which cause the post count to drift from its real value over time. The current count is the accurate one.
I'm sure that professional campaign managers are always counting number of posts manually because they have to check quality, exclude posts from some boards like off-topic, local and etc. So, it's not a problem. But there are lot if bounties with hundreds of users and terrible managers who only cares about number of posts made, not about quality.

I think the mods likely don't have much time and indiscriminately delete most anything that gets reported.
