Title: Google to ban ICO and cryptocurrency AD
Post by: tokenpool on March 14, 2018, 11:01:02 AM
Google is going to change its financial product policy in June this year. They have mentioned in the recent blog post that cryptocurrency ads, Initial Coin offering and related content like cryptocurrency exchanges, cryptocurrency wallets, and cryptocurrency trading advice will be removed from June 2018.

This will affect all of Google's ad products, meaning companies will not be able to serve crypto-related ads on the search engine giant’s own sites, as well as third-party sites in its network.

Just after a month of Facebook announcing that it would enforce a similar policy that bans advertisements involving bitcoin and initial coin offerings to prevent cryptocurrency related promotions that might deliberately misguide investors, google has decided to update its financial product policy.

Wow, this is a new policy, starting in June this year.
However, the policy also shows that Google can still provide advertising information for the country's encrypted money market, if national policies allow it.

This is really bad news for the crypto market. Despite being well developed, there are some media that have prevented the development of cryptocurrency. Facebook and google really have no interest in bitcoin and they are giving the policy against the cryptocurrency market.
I do not know what their purpose is, but it really deters electronic money.

Advertisers offering Contracts for Difference, rolling spot forex, and financial spread betting will be required to be certified by Google before they can advertise through AdWords. Certification is only available in certain countries.

To be certified by Google, advertisers will need to:

Be licensed by the relevant financial services authority in the country or countries they are targeting
Ensure their ads and landing pages comply with all AdWords policies
Comply with relevant legal requirements, including those related to complex speculative financial products
Advertisers can request certification with Google starting March 2018 when the application form is published.

There are reasons why Google need to put restrictions on those ads. Maybe because there are too many scam project/investment offers.

First, it was Facebook who banned it.

Now, Google joins in the fray. Wonder who will be next?

What exactly is their concerns? Are they worried that they couldn't jump onto the crypto bandwagon? Thus losing market share?

Absolutely a sad news for cryptocurrency community, this will give an effect to the market imo but I hope it wont give a serious bad side effect. This is just really unfortunate to see they are going to ban all crypto-related content instead of just ICO ads.
I do not understand why they decide to do so, there are still few months left and hopefully they will reconsider and revise the decision.

I believe this will never be a welcome development to the crypto market. Why are all these regulations coming up lately? I am sure it has the backings of some regulatory bodies and some other authorities. Google cannot just come up overnight with a regulation that won't be favourable to cryptocurrency. This would have also caused some forms of panic to some people and might result into more plunging of the crypto market. Nevertheless, the policy in a space of time can still be changed.

CAT token should make this news a big platform to skyrocket to the moon

Actually I'm not surprised. After Facebook started banning crypto Google was supposed to be the next.
I guess all the US located/originated ad.services and socials will be forced to do it sooner or later.

Nobody else, or at least it wont matter because Google and Facebook are taking the lion share of internet ads. I think that this ban will have little-to-non impact over crypto currencies, because ICO's are not relying on traffic for FB & Google anyway.

I think this temporary phenomenon of advertising bans is cryptocurrency. Vkontakte also blocked advertising related to the crypto currency, but as it was quickly again allowed. By the way, what news on the prohibition of advertising crypto in Facebook? And it seems to be banned, but something is not felt yet.

I honestly don't see why they are even taking a stance on this. Google usually does not care at all about consumers. They ongoing allow chinese companies to advertise fake products or products involved in customs fraud on their platform.

I have seen so many ponzi scam coins are running its service. This is why google will try to ban all of the ico related advertisement in june. I remember when bitconnect or even regal coin which both can be considered as scam projects were using it.

Google is always extremely conversation about allowing advertising of anything that might fall into a legal gray area.  While there's plenty of crypto that is clearly legal, they may feel that they aren't in a position to review every crypto ad to determine what locations it's legal for...making it easier for them to just ban the whole category for now.

This is just another bug company jumping on the appeasement bandwagon. Everyone try to stay on the Trump administrations good side. I’m sure there are more people get scammed by Google ads for health good than cryptos. I won’t hokd my breath until a similar policy for them is out in place.

This will be huge, i would expect much bigger influence than in the case of Facebook ban. If we link these restrictions with lastly SEC statement about ICOs i think that ICOs will have much more problems and many projects will end during their campaigns

Recently, some fashion went to talk about the prohibition of crypto currency in one form or another, but later. While the market is falling, someone comes. And closer to the date of the blocking, the clarifications begin - "they did not mean exactly this," "do not prohibit, but introduce regulations on regulation," "we are still in the process of discussion."

And here until June, apparently, they will not be very bothered by "harm to consumers." :)

I assume there were forced to do it as well as Facebook to follow the laws. Though these are negative news but I think that it won't give so much effect on the market as you can expect. Btw, I haven't seen any baned ad on Facebook since their announcement. I do several bounty shares per day with #ICO #Blockchain and other hastags and they are not blocked as well as all the ICO's facebook accounts.

I think they are not so against advertising as against fraudulent projects! I think over time, all big companies will understand that cryptocurrency is a future that can not be ignored and will begin to use cryptocurrency in its work. it's usually good that such big companies are struggling with scammers, but this can be done in a variety of ways

I think its a going thing if we take this in another way. All(most of them) these ICO'S have caused share dilution. Imagine if all these shenanigans were happening with stocks? No one would want to invest. And You will still be able to find crypto. You just won't be able to advertise. So less option for phishing.

Anti-competitive Major Company Behaviour

So basically, Protecting Consumers from themselves or assuming they can't make their own purchase or investment decisions (and assuming they can't take responsibility for their own decisions if an investment doesn't work out), is 'The Reason', why Governments and Corporate entities need to remove competition and freedom of consumer choice altogether!

What is the point of the so-called, "Free Market" if competition is not allowed to exist?

How can Democracy be proclaimed or even exist if free speech, the free market and competition are suppressed?

Bitcoin and its whitepaper are clear. The message and decentralized model or example of "Decentralized Trust" given to us by the blockchain is clear!

Facebook, YouTube and Google Censorship is clear!

And therefore, the Road Ahead for Cryptocurrency Blockchain Developers is now clear!

To protect future free speech and to protect free trade cryptographically we must use Blockchain to develop the following:

Continue to Build and Accept Decentralized Cryptocurrency
We must build decentralized networks, including Social Networks whose direction is only dictated by the consensus of the majority who use and support it.
We must build decentralized search, programs and applications.
We must be prepared to build a decentralized Internet!

Bitcoin, DTube and Steemit have shown us the way.

Enough is enough. The Elite Must [Be Enforced to] Compete!

Korea To Reverse ICOs, Will The Market Reinvent?
Even news is speculative these days! Miền madness. We need proper and responsible journalism, not imbeciles penning things in a hurry and fanning wishful thinking. Yeah and the same article has just been posted everyday for the last month. So fucking annoying. Either news is news feed to bottom feeders. This is seriously comical I can not keep up with this. Thinking of checking out for a while from the news since I'm not a trader anyways.
South Korea is smart. They want the tech edge to be made in their country. Nếu có ICO 100 in korea và hai quá lớn sẽ sẽ được tốt với đó. Simple as that IMO. Đây là great news for crypto though!

This is the worst news for crypto market at the moment but I think everything will be fine cause Google is not the only place that we can use to advertise ICO project or cryptocurrency. Although Google is the most effective place to advertise but with other place we just need to increase appear times in a days for our advertisement and the result will be the same when we use Google to advertise.

I sympathise with all the comments about advertising should be allowed and we don't need protection from ourselves as we can make our own minds up. But the thing is Google has a monopoly of the internet. It basically runs the internet and so it is able to do whatever it wants with no comebacks. This is the trouble with allowing companies to get so big and achieve market dominance. We simply cannot fight back. So however much we disagree with their policies, including banning crypto ads from June, there is simply nothing we can do as we are completely powerless against them.

I saw these news in the Internet. And sure, I was disappointed a lot by two reasons. Firstly, it will bring  absolutely negative inflation on crypto currency. People need to hear and have an access to the information! Secondly, as for me, it is unclear position and decision for such great innovative company as Google.

With This news I believe the whole crypto universe has to be held responsible. Why?

Because a lot of startups overhype and promote their projects so much that it starts to constitute nuisance to people who as not generally interested in cryptos.

Only about 5% or less if the world population have adopted cryptocurrency or on the positive side of the crypto discussions, meaning there are potentially billions of people that are skeptical or downrightly against cryptos.

Bottom line: Google is a company, a global business that makes 80% of its revenue from ads. So when something is causing pain to a larger portion of their customers they have to do something about it.

I personally wouldn't be surprised to see Larry Page or Sergei is a personal fan of crypto, because this is purely business.

In fact, it's time for the cryptoworld to become self-sufficient. Now this world depends on centralized management, including in the network. A decentralized network, currencies, exchanges, other services all this is still separately and have not power. Needed to combine all it.
And Google and Facebook will not be able to do anything.

This take a lot of time, to create decentralized platforms which can compete with centralized ones is a long run work. The last case with google showed us, that if someone wants, so can change things very fast. I really don't believe that google will do this due to customers...to be people in safe in front of scammers...google does things because of profit or if someone force it to do something :)

As you may already know. Twitter also was forced to do exactly the same thing - but honestly I am sure that it is good for the crypto! We will have much less scam ICO and all that greedy stuff, we will see only trustworthy teams and respect to crypto will increase. So in long-term it is good, short-term probably will not so good. :o

Yeah, this is going around the crypto world these days. Its gonna be bad for the ICO and crypto industry. Google is a big company with large audience and we cannot deny the fact that it is contributing to the popularity of ICo, crypto and even those exchanges. If these will be implemented, we must prepare for another battle.

I saw a video talking about this, and I agree with the youtuber that says that other avenues of publicity will open and will help to grow these other channels that are crypto friendly and eventually when cryptocurrencies become mainstream they will have or feel forced to review their policy once again.

last two weeks, Google announced that they will ban or no longer support or accept any ico or crypto related ads on their platforms next to Facebook announcement.
due to that, investors and Crypto enthusiasts felt worried for the outcome due to Google's biggest help and participation on promoting ICOs and attract more investors.
But it's a game changer because scammers or fake ICOs were being advertised on Google and Facebook and ruins investors money as they fall into those scammers.
investor put their trusts on Google and Facebook because the advertisements look legitimate.

This is really bad informations for crypto market. Everything will change, i hope it will not destroy market, and will be good. Especially now when all prices are red

I really don't like to consider it a bad news for crypto enthusiasts or organizing crypto and ICOs because for me good ICOs could promote anywhere regarding their ICO information so google is not the only tool who could stop ICOs to promote and advertise their ICO sale.
I do believe that there are too many channels and places to pin their ICO ads like this forum.
I think this forum is enough for them to push their ICOs into popularity.

I don't think that this news would be a big hit for the cryptocurrency. There are actually many cases of crypto-commercials bans, for example facebook, yandex, and sooun twitter as well.

Google, twitter, facebook bans crypto ads which is a bad news,
But this will allow advertisers to create new platform where only cryptocurrency ads only allowed in cryptocurrency niche website,so there is no need to worry.

That's true, there are already these platform, this is mainly problem for ICOs, because ICOs try to attract new people via advertisement and mostly probably newbies so maybe this is not so bad news. If newbies will be more safe because won't invest into every scam which they see, the whole crypto world will look better

this bad news for cryptocurrency but best time to buy some coins and hold till end year, because all coins run to decline and we can get some coins with cheaper prices.
