Title: [Tips] Guide for forum search Post by: coly20032003 on March 15, 2018, 06:56:59 AM I believe a lot of you have used the search function in bitcointalk before, but maybe not all people know all the tricks to make your search more accurate/effective. Today I will try to write a simple tutorial about more details on bitcointalk search.
You can access the search easily by clicking the "SEARCH" tab on the top of the forum. There are two types of search that is available on bitcointalk, Google Search and Forum Search. (If you directly use the search bar on the top right side of the forum, it is default to be forum search.) https://i.imgur.com/05aA535.png Google Search Advantages of Google Search:

Title: Re: [Tips] Guide for forum search Post by: TheBeardedBaby on March 15, 2018, 08:35:35 AM Really good guide.
While searching for something specific with the forum search engine I often get server errors so I gave up using it, but the google search is pretty accurate. I'll list your guide in my Comprehensive guide to Bitcointalk (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2534500.0)if you don't mind. Code: site:bitcointalk.org earn bitcoin Title: Re: [Tips] Guide for forum search Post by: omali on June 21, 2018, 11:12:10 PM I believe a lot of you have used the search function in bitcointalk before, but maybe not all people know all the tricks to make your search more accurate/effective. This is very helpful... I have been having trouble with the search... Thanks for this post Title: Re: [Tips] Guide for forum search Post by: bill gator on June 21, 2018, 11:17:54 PM If I could leave you another tip, I might suggest that you do not need to quote the entire post,
You can either just reply, or simply quote the section of the post that you are directly replying to. Also, this thread has had over 3-months since it has last been bumped. I'm going to assume that you search function lead you to this thread, so you couldn't have been having too much trouble ;). Normally, people dislike posts that are "This helped me" kind of posts, because there are endless newbies spamming similar posts for malicious reasons; it hits a nerve around here. I would suggest shooting OP a PM, unless you have more to add to the discussion. A friendly "thank you, this helped" PM is much more pleasing than a "Thank you" post-reply, if that makes sense. + When you search by Google, put bitcointalk.org at the end of your words. Example: "Ann thread bitcointalk.org". So all result will show from Bitcointalk. If you want to find more detail or more information, put more words. Google will go through only bitcointalk.org to find result Title: Re: [Tips] Guide for forum search Post by: jallu74 on July 21, 2018, 06:04:21 PM Thank you! Your publication is very useful to me. I used to think that when a forum recommends me to use Google search, it just sends me from the forum to Google because the forum doesn't have what I need.
Title: Re: [Tips] Guide for forum search Post by: vit05 on July 21, 2018, 06:04:31 PM You can use duckduckgo.com (https://duckduckgo.com) as well. By not tracking your searches and not tracking you anywhere you visit on the internet, I would recommend using it instead of google.
They use the same codes as google. Just enter the terms you want to search followed by: Code: site:https://bitcointalk.org So if you want to search for satoshi, it would look like this: Code: satoshi site:https://bitcointalk.org satoshi (https://duckduckgo.com/?q=satoshi+site%3Ahttps%3A%2F%2Fbitcointalk.org&t=h_&ia=web)You can search in specific sections too. You just need to put the right number of the section. Altcoin discussion is number 67. Code: site:https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=67 Ethereum (https://duckduckgo.com/?q=ethereum+site%3Ahttps%3A%2F%2Fbitcointalk.org%2Findex.php%3Fboard%3D67&t=h_&ia=web)Bounties is number 238 Code: site:https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=238 pay me to (http://pay me to site:https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=238)Development & Technical Discussion is number 6 Code: site:https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=6 To find discussions about fee on Technical Discussion fee site:https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=6 (https://duckduckgo.com/?q=fee+site%3Ahttps%3A%2F%2Fbitcointalk.org%2Findex.php%3Fboard%3D6&t=h_&ia=web)Title: Re: [Tips] Guide for forum search Post by: samarnaaz on July 22, 2018, 07:10:55 AM Yeah you are really good to tell about something and i got many thing from your message and i ll try it in anytime thank u so much..
