I've been there several times, and a few times, there has been hundreds of kids all over the area crawling on the rocks (which is allowed), so the man has a valid point if one of those rocks was unstable, it could fall on a kid..or adult.

Every time I go there, it is a lot of fun, and I'm always amazed everyone makes it back without any injuries.

Better tear that all down then before somebody gets hurt.

Or close off access to humans...

I think charging him with a felony is excessive.  Especially when everyone is climbing on the structures causing little bits of erosion (or vandalism).

Reminds me of rock formations in those old Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner cartoons.

Since this is public property (state park), shouldn't they have consulted the other 2.855 million owners before making modifications?
I agree.

Everybody is bold at defending its own private property but noone is defending public domain... This is everyone's property, you can't touch it if I do not agree.

You can be killed by anything if you are an idiot

Update: http://www.ksl.com/?sid=27300414&nid=148&fm=most_popular&s_cid=article-popular-1

Original videao: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZQlPrnsfoc&feature=youtu.be

Just when you thought this story couldn't get worse, over and beyond the death threats, these adults are Boy Scout leaders and are now lying about their actions.

In the video, it clearly shows that their only intent was to move the hoodoo where it's been resting for eons. Upon completing the task, cheering and high fives were given and the narrator, Hall, states that they have "...now modified Goblin Valley. A new Goblin Valley exist." Glen, the "Hoodoo Houdini", only said as a humorous aside, "Some little kid..." whereupon Hall expands the humor with, "Some little kid was about to walk down here and die..."

Now, they're taking those aside humorous remarks and using it in their defense for their actions. If at the onset of the video they stated that what they are about to do is for safety concerns, then they may have a case, albeit doubtful.

Even though BSA has in their handbook "leave no trace", Hall offers up that there's nothing in the handbook that describes what to do when encountering such a situation, hence taking the matter in their own hands, completely ignoring the "leave no trace" rule. It seems that two smart(?) guys couldn't go to the park rangers and express their concerns, where if they were warranted, the rangers would have fixed the situation somehow. That rock wasn't about to come down within the next two hours.

Bottom line, they did it for the laughs... until it no longer became a laughing matter.

ahhh i can see it now the bottom picture some half backed fat person walks to the middle of the arch and starts jumping up and down then suddenly it gives way the arch and the man fall down and after the dust settles the mans there on his ass in a rock pile saying i told you it was dangerous

theres lots of dangerous things in life if your worried the best way would be to bubble wrap your children and keep them in the basement until there 16

think of it this way did you do anything stupid as a child?

I agree. The "for the children" was a childish attempt to save face after the fact.

At that point, it still wasn't about saving face--just expanding upon the humorous act. The saving face aspect only came into play when they stated getting feedback from their YouTube video, of which has nothing stated in the description as to why they did what they did--to save the children.

Soon, we'll start seeing the memes about these Hoodoo Houdinis, starting with "The Misadventures of Horrible Hall and Goliath Glenn".

To paraphrase Walker Brennen: "You see that mountain over there? Yeah? Well, one of these days we're gonna move that mountain to save some kid from dying."

You never know with these rocks. They quietly and sneakily sneak behind you then drop on your head when you don't expect it. Stop rocks now, before they kill all our children.

The rocks don't look very dangerous. If you stay away from them, you should be OK. They look very nice, so I would not want to damage them.

Thanks to your post, we can safely assume that these guys were filming their getting-their-rocks-off along with the organism, and if anything arrives from their act, they won't be aborting any children.

BSA now equals _______________ (?).

Glenn Taylor filmed pushing 2,000-pound rock one month after filing lawsuit saying he was disabled (http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/man-pushes-2-000-pound-rock-month-filing-injury-suit-article-1.1490926)

Quote
Glenn Taylor was filmed pushing over a ton of sandstone at Utah's Goblin Valley State Park after he filed papers against Alan Macdonald, claiming he 'endure(d) great pain and suffering, disability, impairment, loss of joy of life' from a 2009 crash involving MacDonald's daughter.

Quote
Taylor you are cooked. You didn't think before you acted. Your lawsuit will now lose some power, maybe all of it as "indirect" punishment for your childish move. Judges don't like frivolous lawsuits and you just provided maybe all that Alan Macdonald needed to toss most of it. And besides that, you will now be viewed differently (negatively) by everyone that ever knew you. You just had your 15 minutes of fame by the way. How was that, good?

"I think their next project will be to fill in the Grand Canyon....you know...just in case...." one YouTube viewer suggested in one of the video's comment section.

This is a frightened city. Over these stretches of land, over these streets hangs a pall of fear. Fear of a new kind of violence which is terrorizing the city. Yes, gangs of old rocks attacking defenseless fit young men and women....

"It could've fell on someone" is just an excuse for stupid people to have done something stupid; they had no intention or harming or helping anyone, they just wanted to push the rock over and needed a reason after the fact to make them appear as though they were doing good.

"It could've fell on someone" is just an excuse for stupid people to have done something stupid; they had no intention or harming or helping anyone, they just wanted to push the rock over and needed a reason after the fact to make them appear as though they were doing good.

Again, the reason shown in the video was them joking, and only after being called out did they expand upon that joke to justify their actions. The BSA even saw through their ruse. And now Glenn will probably have his lawsuit thrown out pertaining to some accident that took away his ability to enjoy life to its fullest.

This video comes to mind: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ioVk9MeZNGg especially part two http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xeEqxWTz8Ls
