Title: [WTS] Scrap Motherboards, PCI Cards, RAM, Processors, etc for Gold Recovery
Post by: BtcNmcMiner on July 25, 2011, 10:53:21 AM
I run a sma;; computer recycling business and occasionally sell old hardware and components for Gold and precious metals recovery.

Currently, I have the following three auctions on ebay and would accept bitcoins for payment if anyone is interested. I can also get together a list of the other hardware I'm preparing for sale, along with the price I'd like to receive. Of course I would accept bitcoins for payment for this other hardware as well.

46 lbs scrap motherboards: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170671709884&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT

21 lbs scrap motherboards: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170671688016&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT

5 scrap laptops: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170671690833&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT

I also pick-up and recycle hardware in Northern Indiana, Eastern Illinois, and Southern Michigan with no fees:

 beware of him!

I think this boy is a SCAM.

Last week i've sent a payment (9BTC) for hiring his cards to mine in my pool.

One week later, (and some emails) i have not response from him. So beware.

(if he starts mining or returns BTC. ill keep you informed)

Aside from the other posts, gold recovery from mobos and CPUs is hard, and not very profitable.  Hunt it up on the web and you'll see just how little you actually get.

If anyone is interested I have like 20ish Pentium 1 processors I'd sell for some BTC.  Don't know what they're worth but I don't plan on doing anything with them otherwise.

exactly unless you have a large operation it isn't profitable.
The cost of the acid's to go through with it. Some sort of area setup to handle the work being performed. If it was worth the effort of recovering the gold I would bet this guy would be melting them down.

I put my scrap stuff on ebay and get a surprising $3 a lb for scrap that I used to throw out.  I collect it up an sell it in 25 lbs boxes and do calculated shipping.

As the market for scrap is pretty specialized, selling here would not make sense unless a bulk buyer was using bitcoins.  I can write a note to each of my buyers just in case to try to get them on board, but I do not see it happening anytime soon.

I volunteer at a computer/electronic recycling project which a local charity organisation runs.
Its good therapy to pull computers apart and hit them with a hammer.

I don't know about scam, I started a mining contract with him on July 19th and the mining stopped about 11 days ago with no communication since 8/23 when he was having some equipment problems.  Also, you can see that the website he linked to is down.  He told me that it runs on his home computer while ihis mining equipment runs at his office.  Unfortunately, it's not easy to tell, but assuming something happened to him, things might have slowly failed given the lack of maintenance.  Could be a scam too, I mean, I probably got 40 days of mining out of my 180 day contract (insert optimistc so far), but that could be because I got in early.
