Title: Is mining still viable on GPUs and CPUs?
Post by: ArteMixer on March 19, 2018, 07:41:57 PM
Tried mining with my GTX 750ti, but the results were ridiculous. Is it the GPU or is the mining on GPUs dead in general?

You should post this in the mining thread for optimal answers. Is it a 1gb or 2gb? For btc, gpu mining has lost its viability. However, for other coins there is still a high sense of optimism. You wont get huge profits with a gtx 750ti overall, but look into mining monero or etn.

Always depends on what you are mining.
If popular ones you will see very little from a card so old.
To see anything you need 1050ti or above to see anything from what you are mining.

It might be for ETH, but I found a thread on here that might help you:

1. Your card is a bit old it may lead to loss( reward lower than electric bill). If you want to invest in mining you should find some new cards with generate high hash-rate and cost low power. Such as AMD Rx580.
2. GPU mining still be there for the alt coins which was built resist ASIC.
3. https://whattomine.com/coins support the calculator quite accurate you can find you best choice.

mining is a competitive thing, so you will need a competitive set up to be able to be a valid part of the mining operation! you can't start it with only 1 GPU and a GPU which is rather old. your GPU will give you about 240 Hash/s while other newer ones are getting 10-1000 of Mhash/s.
you can find a bunch of good information about that here: https://miningchamp.com/

mining is still an option which can be a good one too, you mine altcoins with GPU by the way. but it depends on your equipment and the costs such as electricity cost that you have to come to profit.
