  sMerit is taken into account when changing rank. If you score the required number of posts, but not enough merits, you will not be promoted! Why, the purpose of its introduction?
  Recently, a large number of new accounts have appeared, many of which are registered in batches by one user for the purpose of their promotion and sale. There was a lot of Scam, empty meaningless messages on Bitcoin Forum.

  At the moment, buying and selling Merit is punishable by painting your trust and negative rating.
  Write useful posts, give good advice, be really useful on the forum and your Merit will grow!
  Forum tired of the barrage of empty posts that clog it and make it useless, drawing people's idle chatter. Let us develop and help others.
  Starting with the rank-Member, the user is given a one-time sMerit. Depending on the rank of the participant number sMerit different (the higher the rank, the greater number of them).
  If you want to send Merit to another user, you need to click +Merit. The number of merits transferred depends on your rank (maximum 50 for each).
  For example: you send 2 sMerit, then the person to whom you sent them will receive +2 Merit, and +1 will be added to your sMerit.
  Remember that Merit does not fall!
  Danger: Do not refresh the page where you send sMerit, otherwise it will be charged every time you update!
  The maximum number of sMerit that can be obtained from one user per month = 50.

Before creating topics to share tips/ tutorials, you should search to make sure they are not posted/ solved somewhere in the forum. If they are available, and you have better solutions, you should start a new one. If not, please don't do it. If you have only small tips to improve, post it in available topics to contribute to current discussions.

Well it hasn't helped you by quoting that post in full. I very nearly put you on ignore, so you would have no chance of getting merit from me.

Quoting long posts that just repeat information that is in a myriad of other threads just clogs up the boards. If you must reply, then please clip the post down to a couple of lines. There is no point in repeating it if it is in the post above yours.

At the moment?  ??? You're putting that in a way like it is going to be allowed to buy/sell Merits at some point in future. You should simply say, "It is not allowed to trade Merits." without putting a "At the moment," part at the starting. That makes it sound completely different, and wrong too.

By the way, you just posted a useless thread, containing the same content that has been excessively repeated in many sections already. So, congratulations for being a lazy-head who never cares to read before posting, and, it was a very good try to get your first Merit trying to help some people with a post like this, but I can only see a 0 (zero) in the Merit column of your account, and that might have made you understand that this is not the way to get it.  ::)

Thank you for sharing this information! As a newbie, I appreciate informative posts like this because it will surely guide our steps. Knowing the basics helps us in strengthening our foundation in this industry. What you shared about merits actually equipped us. I am looking forward to reading more of your posts!

And more surprising that many are making the topic of "what is the merit?" "how does it work?", "how are the terms and regulations?".
However, there are still many new topics from some newbie with the same title or intent, which is "How to get merit?".

I regret some of the newbies here who go into the "jungle" but they always ask about the "direction", whereas the "signpost" is available in "along the way". :(

The application of merit is an incorrect decision. I as a new user in this forum feel unfair

The ones who feel unfair about the system has only one way to react and that is by leaving the forum.
The system has been implemented to reduce spam and spammers from the forum, and so it is doing. Now, for everyone, there are only 2 choices. They either live with it, or live outside the forum.  ::) Choice is yours.  ;)

There are many complaints about the merit system and it is true that it is much more difficult to rank up. But theymos has implemented this for a reason to reduce spam and bad quality posts (as zanzay mentioned). Merit is here to stay, so learn to live with it.

That's why spammers never rank up so fast, and meriting system is a good filtering system in this forum. Merits is earned for those members that is really worthy.

Your article does not add anything new to it, not sure why you even bothered to post it in the first place ???
Both Meta and Beginners section are filled with Merits Whining and discussions topic, no need to add more to it :)

If your post are high quality you won't have any problem with Merits

When I first joined the forum, I wasn't familiar with the merit system or why I should really care about it. I wasn't very knowledgable about Bitcoin other than the very basics and certainly had little knowledge to offer really.  Not much has changed! Except that I do now understand the benefit of merit.  But it's all about quality content and patience.

Although some people seem to think cryptocurrency is the fast track to getting rich quick - in my reality it's more about getting involved and slowly building a portfolio that goes up and down in value.  Over time it will hopefully grow if you make smart choices and stay patient rather than demand the instant gratification of an immediate and big payoff. My belief is that Bitcointalk merit acts in much the same way. Get involved and slowly make meaningful statements about the topics you come across.  Make smart choices in what and how (and how often) you contribute and stay patient (rather than demand instant merit like it is your birthright) and it will eventually come.

If any of you are familiar with the site MyLot - it is a discussion forum where you can earn money by making contributory and original posts based on how others view and respond to you and how you in turn interact back. It is not fast building bank account and it is not a lot of money. But over time it adds up.  Many at MyLot are quick to point out that if you are there just to make money - you will end up disappointed and leave with nothing. But if you invest time and thoughtfulness in your words, and make that effort your primary focus instead of earning money you will do well.

The merit system here I think works the exact same way. Make the process your focus rather than the end result and you will learn something along the way. :)

Good information, i always hear merit rank from j.member and above, as a beginner we need to seat up, and make the forum, with a constructive post and more interesting, for a better future.

You as a new user benefit the most from the new merit system.  With a new account, you are starting fresh and can earn merit as you rank up. The only people it really hurt was anyone who was a week or two away from ranking up that now have to catch up all their merit in order to do so which could take months or longer. It is totally fair for new accounts unless you just made this account to troll how it's unfair because you are in another category or just wanted to rank up to earn money with spammy posts.

Yeah, you are right! As a newbie, you should learn more about crypto world (basic knowledge about blockchain, ledger, explorer, anonymous transactions, ICOs, DAICOs, masternode mechanism, etc). How to do this, reading more in the forum and available websites, using search function in the Google and the forum. Try writing constructive threads, improving your quality (contents, grammar, vocabularies, and formats) over time. Some day you will earn merits.

Merit are supposed to be earned by the right way, with making some useful or meaningful post/thread.
And i think buying and selling Merits are illegal..
