I've seen many people using cardboard under the base of their motherboard, and i'm wondering, isn't cardboard a fire hazard?

That's the risk they're taking.

The thing is, most people leave their rigs on 24/7 and go to sleep at night, yet i haven't heard of a single report of a house burning down in flames.

Those cards don't go above ~250F or they will auto-shutoff.

Cardboard I believe to be more durable to heat.

i'm more worried about small pins on the back of motherboards. They don't use much energy, but they get very hot.

cardboard would require almost a direct flame to catch fire. A GPU or mining rig would not produce near enough heat.

The 451F thing is largely popular opinion based on the book "Farenheit 451" but realistically different kinds of paper will have different autoignition temperatures depending on their thickness, coatings, impurities, cotton/wood ratios, etc.

Yeah that's way more complicated than pulling 451F out of your ass, but suffice it to say the resulting number IS somewhat higher than the 105C (221F) most cards shut off at.

As for the solder, yes some varieties melt at temperatures as low as 90C but those varieties would never be used for computer parts. More likely would be solders in the higher end of the temperature range - some solder doesn't melt until 450C - so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

I was trying to show that cardboard theoretically would be more heat resistant than paper.

+1 I agree completely, I have been running several months using a small piece of cardboard to life one of my cards up and never had any problems and the cardboard piece is not hot.

i wake up at night sweating lately. usually i use 2 blankets. now i sleep naked because of my 2 rigs.
