Post by: skcdaking on April 03, 2018, 06:10:38 AM
I know all members have problem with rank up (except legendary members) but some members who dont know enough english for describe himself or describe their opinins have bigger problem.

I am Turk and I usually looking Turkish forum cuz I can understand easily , I can share my all opinions in my language. Its good but there is a problem There is not enough merit sources in Turkish forum. I think all local forums have this problem. We need more local merit sources . They will share merits in their local forums.

Its not a selfish request I want it for all local forums.

I will be waiting for your opinions guys :)

I think this would be a good idea. Members who don't have English as a 1st language are struggling to gain merit on the main English boards, and often fall foul of some of the established members.

It would be good if they could discuss Bitcoin and crypto on their own local language boards.

Don’t you think that could lead to spam English boards as soon as they get higher ranks?

Most, if not all, campaigns pay for writing in English. I don’t know of any campaigns that pay for writing exclusively in local languages. So, if we get a lot of people ranking up using only their local languages they may spam the English boards with poor English after.

It could be argued that if they are good posters, they can learn English when they rank up, but I think it is better they learn before and rank up after.

(Edit) I've just seen that, definitely, we don't need more merit sources in local boards:

Of course, this is a danger, and, once again, it comes back to sig campaigns and their spamming.

Bitcoin is a global phenomenon, and this means that many users will not have English as a first language. In fact they may not even have English as an nth language. I think it is a shame that they are forced to have a reduced use of Bitcoin Talk because of the actions of sig spammers, and their irresponsible managers. The answer is to control the sig sponsors, and not to reduce the global appeal of Bitcoin Talk in my opinion.

Believe me on the local forums no useful information I myself after 2 months of studying the local forum came to the conclusion that there is practically zero information. Then switched to English and at the same time learn the language. Himself from local Russia

I agree, that would be the best solution.

The same happened to me. There is hardly any interesting info on my local board.

English is not my first language, but I fully agree with you. And the worse part is that some of them are currently running bounty programs. They have for one shown beyond a reasonable doubt that they don't have the ability to give articles written in good English the recognition it deserve. This while really shitty articles written in dodgy English scored top marks. More merit sources in local boards will only lead to lower quality posts in English boards.

I dont like the idea, this is a bias idea and will cause too many merit abuse on local boards.

Yes, I know there are too many members that cant speak or write good english even "ME" I cant write or speak english well but I do research and I use google translate sometimes its a challenge it is also good for us to learn.

In fact I really want to suggest to "disable the merit sending on local boards" because every time I check recent merits to look for abusers I can see that there is a HUGE number of merit abuse on local's they think that we cant notice them because we cant understand them, sometimes I ignore some of abuse because Im lazy to translate the page.

Turkish is board is the second easier local board to get merit. I agree with you that local boards need more merit sources, but not Turkish and Russian! They have plenty already.

I was taking a look at zentdex's  Where the Merit Pours? (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3093768.0) and found this image:
